I have this nagging feeling that something is lost in the conversion from km/ltr to mpg. Everyone in Canada is getting bad gas mileage. Maybe they will get interested in my grill covers. :)
-
MikeB I was hoping to see your ENERGI, is there any differences with Hybrid?
-
Than I guess you will have to wait for Summer. I did test run today at 68deg.F stock CMAX 38psi ECO cruise at 70mph and got 38.9mpg for the 14.1mi trip.
-
If you drive it like a hybrid you should be getting atleast 40mpg at 40deg.F which would be 45mpg at 70deg.F. Today I was testing and at 68deg.F with no covers, ECO cruise set for 70mph and I got 38.9mpg. Are you taking short trips, less than 10mi?

2.1 MPG Gain with Grill Cover at 70 MPH, 27F
ptjones replied to plus 3 golfer's topic in Fuel Mileage
I appreciate the good job you're doing. -
What outside temps are you experiencing? Have you checked your odometer with portable GPS? Mine was off by 1.5% or .5mpg. You lose about 2mpg for each 10deg.F drop from 70deg.F on your gas mileage. Look at mileage forum, 3mpg gained with grill covers thread for more info.

From my graph it looks like we are going to have simular numbers change, maybe a little more. I did a little research on Prius and some people had a dip in the middle of summer. I assumed it was for AC use. Nice work Maximus.

Fuel Saving Tips and Tricks Part 1

You are suppose to check tires when they are cool. One time I checked mine and the sun was shining on one tire and it was couple of psi higher. That makes it a little harder. -

C-MAX Hybrid Forum: How Can We Make This Site Better?

Right! But my wife doesn't miss a chance to give me a hard time about my lack of writing skills. -
If you are interested, check out 3MPG gained thread in mileage forum. I could send you a prototype grill cover set to try out. It would take 5min to install and see what you think. Then send it back when your done. Your MPG's will increase after 5-6k miles by a couple MPG. BTW check your odometer with your Garmin, mine is off by 1.5% or .5mpg to the plus. I get around 44mpg on the hwy at 70mph. Good Luck Paul

Is it really water temperature that matters??
ptjones replied to littlebitfarm's topic in Fuel Mileage
I also agree ICE doesn't start until battery is low or you push to hard on accelerator pedal. The problem is that the battery is usually low coming home although I still can sometimes make it a 1/4mi to a stop sign. I'm still working a way to charge battery, it would be nice to go 2mi before ICE came on. -
Who says it can't be done-Post Highs here-over 25 miles traveled

I think most CMAX owners get about one mpg less than the display, some more. Would be interesting if you kept track of the difference on your fill ups so you could factor that in. The couple of times I tried Premium I think I gained 1-2mpg, but I not sure if it's worth the additional expense plus I have to use regular for my testing. Drafting I saw an average of 3mpg and if traffic is fairly heavy you're drafting whether you want to or not. Four to six car lengths works pretty well. Does anyone have any real data on how much going from 38 to 42psi increases mpg? -

Thanks for the suggestions. The "wife" confirmed the spell checker in Firefox and added "Speckie" to Internet Explorer! This hopefully will make a good improvement to MY posts! -

I'm using IE and FireFox and my versions don't. Microsoft OutLook does. Thanks, I will check into that. -

I also think this forum is great and maybe it is just me but spell check would be a great improvement for me. -
I don't see anything really new other than they might think 65mph is considered their hwy speed. Atleast to me it seems my Grill Covers are the only significant improvement in MPG without a big change in driving style. It appears most people didn't sign up for that. Temps in Atlanta area are suppose to be in middle 70's this weekend so I will be able to do more testing. According to my graph projections I should be to get 46mpg at 75deg.F with Grill Covers. We will see. Also be able to check ICE temps and compare CMAX WT gauge to ScanGauge at higher temps.
-
I'll be interested in seeing this also. My dealer was unaware of this when I spoke with him today.
-
Only one set left at $50 then they are $100 ea. Paul

You need to go to MyView and set up WT gauge on right side. For the ICE to be effient the gauge needs to read in the middle. I know it is probably at the bottom of gauge, not good. Running the heater is a MPG killer. Use heated seats instead. My grill covers heatup ICE alot faster saving MPG's and are more aerodynamic at 70mph for a total gain of around 4mpg. paul@star-instruments.com

Fuel Saving Tips and Tricks Part 1
ptjones replied to C-MaxJaxon's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Being a pilot you get use to scaning the displays automatically, aware of your invironment inside and outside the CMAX. It's a challedge but after awhile you get use to it. I have been doing all my testing with 38psi. -
Can I charge the 12v battery from the jump start terminals??
ptjones replied to Generalbeluga's topic in General Discussion
I left the accessory switch on and drained the 12v battery. Stuck 12v charger on it for 10min and the started the engine with charger connected Then quickly removed charger. No more problems, that was 2 months ago. -

How much MPG's does that make?
