  1. Is that a Scientific Measurement? :) Did you install lower cover? I couldn't tell and It is very important to keep temps up. Paul
  2. Here is some information on what can be done to improve MPG's with cold weather: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5511-how-to-improve-winter-mpgs/ If you can't make Grill Covers yourself, I can supply you with a set: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5616-grill-cover-sets-available-to-improve-winter-mpgs/ This graph explains what happens to your gas mileage with temp change without Grill Covers and with. :) Paul
  3. Was wondering what the rest of the cover looks like? :) Any results yet? Paul
  4. Welcome to the 600mi. Club! Good Job! :yahoo: Looking forward to other CMAX Members making a little extra effort to gone the 600 Club. :) Paul
  5. We could have a little trailer on the back that continues the profile and think of all the extra baggage space. LOL Wait a minute, it could be a travel trailer and travel all around the country sleeping in it for next to nothing at all! And it just keeps on getting better and better. LOL :yahoo: Paul
  6. I know my top EV speed in my 2013 is 86mpg using Garmin GPS. ;) I would think a minimum EV speed would be 70mph. I just talked to my FORD Sales Manager and he looked it up in his order books and It says 85mph max EV Speed. :yahoo: Paul
  7. Why would you want to get of your CMAX, is there a better car? Paul

  9. I'm sorry, but I didn't get that. I have gotten use to shifting now and am seeing MPG's in the 50's with temps in the 30-low 40's. :) Paul
  10. They would like to have 3oz, but could do it with more than 1oz. You could get oil from the dipstick tube with small hose, but I think it would be easier to loosen drain plug to get what you need. definitely messier. LOL :) Paul
  11. It would be nice if there was something, to keep you from going into reverse. ;) Paul
  12. Well Blackstone sent me another bottle to put my next oil change sample in. It might take me another year to get another 11K ICE miles(24k odometer miles)! :) I would think if bad things are happening I would start to use some oil. :headscratch: :) Paul
  13. Make yourself some Grill Covers to make back 2-4mpg caused from outside temps dropping. CMAX is affected by lower temps more than 2010 Fusion. If you are ever down in the Atlanta area drop by and I can show you how to improve your mpg's. :) Also check out the Driving Tips in the forum. Paul
  14. Well I'm back from my 3900 mi trip to AZ and back. I was able to do some Coasting Testing with varying road conditions and temps. I can say without a doubt that coasting can improve FE by 5-10mpg under the right conditions. :shift: Here is a List of important points. 1. Regen Braking doesn't work in Neutral so when you step on the brakes you are actuating the real brakes wasting energy and brake pads and disks. If you need to brake shift back to Drive before applying the brakes. 2. You can inadvertently shift into Reverse which luckily doesn't change anything. Still you need to be careful not to do this. 3. To do Coasting right you need the right conditions to make it work for you. a. Good road conditions, no rain or snow. b. Good weather conditions, no wind or tail wind. Strong cross winds or head winds limit your ability to coast. c. Terrain needs to be level or down hill, hard to coast uphill. 4. I had my best results driving between Tucson and Phoenix, AZ with slight to no tailwind, temps 50-55*F with overall drop in elevation of 1300ft. for 90mi. I filled up in El Paso, TX drove 265mi. to Tucson at which point my FE was 38.5mpg due to headwind and 50*F temps. By the time I got to Phoenix, 90 mi. later my average had gone to 43.5mpg's. Doing the math I was getting about 58mpg between Tucson and Phoenix. The technique I used was to follow a trucker going between 70-75mph and I would use a 2bar acceleration. Upon catching him I would let off the gas and shift to Neutral and coast down to 65mph. Then shift back to drive and 2bar accellerate back to the Semi, 75-80mph by that time, let off the gas again and shift to Neutral and coast to 65mph. Pretty Amazing! :yahoo: Unfortunately I wasn't able to do this for most of the trip because of the bad weather conditions. Paul
  15. I have 121K mi. now using an K&N filter most of them. Did Blackstone Oil sample analyst and everything was fine and I'm not using any oil. :yahoo: Paul
  16. It sure seems like it. LOL But the Smart Gauge would show more gallons being used. Yesterdays fillup had Smart Gauge at 12.8 and actual was 13.85 gal. I'm getting pretty good at coasting now. Last night I did 4 short trips for a total of 37.6 mi. and averaged 54mpg with temps from 32-36*F. Amazing. :) Empower Display shows instantaneous FE and Engineering Test Mode not practicable to use all the time. IMO The most important gauge for FE is an accurate WT gauge which the CMAX doesn't have unless you go into the engineering mode. You get the Best FE with WT above 202*F. I use IT, WT, TFT and SOC on my ScanGaugeII. In my old pic I have instantaneous mpg. :)
  17. Four sets have been delivered with one installed with no problems. Waiting to hear on results. Go to "CMAX Grill Cover Testing, 2-5mpg Gain" Thread to see what others have said in the past 3 years. Tonight I filled up at BJ's Premium 93 Octane made four trips: 13. mi. 59.7 mpg at 36*F 10.6 mi. 50.7 mpg 33*F 7 mi 48.3 mpg 33*F 7 mi. 60mpg 32*F with speeds 45-55 mph. IT 57*F and WT got up to 190*F and I also had top Grill taped off too. I averaged 54 mpg total. I think these are very good numbers given the outside temps. :) Paul
  18. I'm not so sure on my CMAX Hybrid, FORD did the ICE Smog update and it didn't appear that they unplugged my ScanGaugeII. I know when I had the ScanGaugeII and another Blue Tooth OBD monitor plugged in at the same time that it sometimes caused problems. ;) Never use vehicle health report and my MPG's keep going up. :) Paul
  19. I talked to Blackstone Labs and they said most people use Odometer readings. I got them thinking about adding ICE vs Odometer on Hybrids. For my case they said I was doing very well and 117K mi. to boot. :) Paul
  20. BTW just a reminder that you need to use funnel in trunk to put in NOS Booster or any other fuel injector cleaners in the tank, otherwise you are going to make a mess on the ground. Expensive waste. :) Paul
  21. Why? It only takes a minute to do. CMAX has two plugs, one under the steering column is the easiest to get to and then stick wire between dash and inside wall by door jam. Leave extra wire on top of dash. :) Paul
  22. I can watch fuel flow with the ScanGaugeII when I get it plugged in. :) Paul
