  1. Just passed 200K. Mechanical issues: Fuel injectors at 175K, Rear shocks 190K I have replaced the windshield (multiple rock hits). 4 sets of tires I hit a deer about 2 years ago 10+K damage. Repaired at Ford dealership. Someone forgot to tighten down one of the undercovers after an oil change. I had to replace that. The sunglass holder spring is broken (will get fixed soon) A spring to the cover on the 12V access was broken and has been replaced. Then there are the recall and TSB issues (headliner, airbags, door handle, etc.) Brakes have not been replaced and are still good. The transmission has worked flawlessly. Quite honestly this car drives live a new one.
  2. The two times my car would not start were because I left the lights on. When you have a delayed turn off sometimes it is easy to not notice. I am not saying that is what happened in your case. It is what happened in mine. You do get an alert sound. If you are in a hurry it is easy to ignore.
  3. This week I should cross 200K. Setting at 199K now. My last tank averaged 42mpg. This was almost all highway miles.
  4. I guess I am lucky I have not had the transmission go out. It is mostly highway miles for me. Currently lifetime mpg 37.3. Early on I did get a 600+ mile tank of gas but I had to work at that. It's a little harder on the fuel than my old Prius. But... it is much easier on my back. This car is very comfortable to drive. I want to see how easy 300K will be.
  5. What it looked like was that my tires were bouncing. Good areas followed by heavy wear. The more I thought about it, it made perfect sense. That is exactly how it felt. You don't notice it until it gets bad because everything changes gradually over time.
  6. My 2013 just crossed 190K. 3 Sets of tires. Fuel Injectors. 1 deer hit 11K in damage (repaired). New windshield. I have not had to replace brake pad or front struts yet. Normal maintenance (plugs, oil, filters, coolant) has been done. Purchased in November 2013 with 20K miles.
  7. I started noticing a rough ride about 5-10K miles before I had time to address the issue. I thought possibly it might be a balance issue. The rear tires had an usual wear pattern. Shocks were the most likely cause. New rear tires and shocks made it drive like a new vehicle again.
  8. My #1 cylinder injector failed at 166K miles. I opted to replace all 4. I have been lucky it looks like.
  9. I am having the same problem. This just started in the last month or two. My car has been in the shop for tires and an alignment. I also had the coolant flush done. Ever since then my am radio is making that high pitched noise.
  10. Currently I am over 150K miles. Brake inspection at the dealer shows little wear. According to the mechanic the brake should go another 100K miles. Most of my driving is highway so very little use of brakes.
  11. Over the last 5K miles or so I have noted a particular event when turning the car onto a street from a moving position. As I approach a street say at 20-30 mph I put on the brake and quickly turn (left or right) and notice during the turn a surging (amost like the engine races) sensation is felt almost like someone pushed on the accelerator during the turn for a moment and it is gone.. Has anyone else noticed this event? Is it possible it is related to a recept system update? Or,.. is this a transmission issue? I am currently at 96K miles. Thanks
  12. I love the car. However I am tired of all of the time I spend at the dealer getting reprogrammed or recall work done. That is the reason I was looking to trade. The unfortunate part is that the trade in value is so low it doesn't make fiscal sense to trade. I hope I didn't lose you on that point. Like you in some ways I look forward to the updates hoping for an improvement in gas mileage and performance. I don't like the time it takes nor that I have to rent a car each time. By my count I have had at least 6 instances where updates were done.
  13. First of all I love my C-Max. However,... the amount of recall, reprogramming and the decreased mpg (it seems) associated with each of these has me thinking of trading mine in until I looked at the KBB trade in value. 2013 Ford C-Max SEL with every option except moonroof trade in value is a little more than 11K. I bought it with 20K miles in November of 2013 for $24,500 and thought I was getting a great deal. From new to 2 years old it has retained on 37% of its value. Unfortunately I will have to keep it unless I can get a private party buyer.
  14. 70 degress F today. Columbia, MO to Kansas City and back (airport) Going to KC 33.5mpg 74 mph Coming back 37.9mpg 68 mph I am hopeful the emissions and fuel mileage updates are helpful. When I first got this car it was easy to get 44-47mpg. Every single update seems to be taking a hit. Quite honestly I don't even know how many times it has been in the shop for recall work. I have four more TSB updates to do now.
  15. It's one of my major complaints in this car. In this day most cars are front wheel or all wheel drive and the turning radius of the C-Max is one of the largest. Honestly it is a big deal to me. It makes parking in tight lots more difficult. Even turning around on a two lane highway is a bit of a stretch.
  16. My deer cost 10K. Although my car never stopped running. I was able to drive home another 60 miles. I drove to the dealership the next morning. That was Feb 19th. My car was supposed to be ready today. However when I got in it the hybrid battery was dead and the ICE would not fire. Bummer. It ran better before I got it fixed.
  17. I just thought of another improvement. How about a tighter turning radius?
  18. I love my C-Max but a few things would make it a little better. 1). The center console could be redesigned. It needs to be longer and have more utility to it. Maybe a shelf inside for coins.... Etc. How about opening from either the left or right side? 2). Make remote start a standard feature. 3). Heated steering wheel. 4). Flatten the trunk hatch area without sacrificing battery 5). I get leaves under the hood in the fall. They tend to hide in the hinge area. 6) wiper fluid freezes too easily in lines while remainder in well is unfrozen 7). Make trunk area 2 inches wider near the seats.
  19. Just saw the new add during the Seahawks/Saints game. It all true. I am a former Prius guy.

  21. We just had a nice heavy snow. I drove from Columbia, MO to St. Louis yesterday. There was about 4 inches on the ground when I started. By the time I reached St. Louis about 10 inches. The highways were plowed but covered. I had no issues getting around. When I got off the highway the snow was much deeper. I almost got stuck. Then I remembered that I could turn off traction control. Once I did that I got around fine. As stated before my Prius would never have made the trip. I couldn't have even made it out of my neighborhood. Nicely done Ford!
  22. I was a little concerned about the winter handling of the C-Max. So far it has performed very well and much better than my 04 Prius.
  23. I just noticed my headliner was starting to fall down all along the front. When I put my hand there to check there was a definite gap. I guess its time to get it fixed.
  24. I am an old Prius guy. I used to run my tires above recommended PSI. I think running at max rated is a smart move. Has anyone switched to an 0W-20? I have not checked out the specs yet for this car but it met all the requirements for my 04 Prius. It definitely helped me add an additional 1-2 mpg on the Prius.
