  1. The offensive writing on my windshield is gone. Goof Off removed it in seconds plus it cleaned allot of other stuff off my glass like bug guts and flying debris remnants from normal driving. Goof Off smells allot like a product I've used for years from 3M (adhesive remover) but can't find in local auto part stores any more. This product should be used in a well ventilated area since it has a strong smell. I suspect it contains property's much like CRC Industries Brakleen which can not be shipped to California anymore due to clean air regulations.
  2. Thanks all for your varying remarks. Now that it has been almost 24 hours since the incident occurred. I'm seeing it in a different light and leaning towards just removing the writing myself with a spray can of remover I have in my garage called "Goof Off", The Ultimate Remover. Shows on the can that it removes marker pen ink, crayon, and lipstick. So I think it will be off my windshield shortly. I did call the city police complaint desk and found that no police report was filed by the officer who wrote me the ticket. So there is no actual report on the incident in the daily police report which are posted online for public review. But allot more serious crimes did happen yesterday so they have much bigger issues on their plate to deal with. As ArizonaEnergi put it...I would clean it off, drop it, and move on. But putting it on Judge Judy does seem exciting as mentioned by another owner.
  3. I just read a post about the possibility of Ford doing some tweaking to computers in later build date CMaxes? My build date is September 2012 and hard as I try there seems to be no way I can come close to joining the 600 mile club. Even with all the great knowledge and tips and tricks I'm getting from owners like Jus-A-Cmax. I'm curious who else with a 2012 build date is struggling to realize high 40's and above mpg on a consistent day to day basis? I'm really curious to know and what part of the country are you in?
  4. Jus the driveway openings in this community are weird, it is a much older neighborhood and homes are worth well over $1million. The concrete opening is really part of the rolled up curb. Meaning the driveway is all part of the curb and causes quite a jolt as you drive up over it. There really is no break in the curb for each homeowner. Her driveway is a narrow old black top surface leading up to her home which is closed off by a wooden fence/gate maybe across it which is flush to the front offset of her home. It didn't look like a driveway to me in my rush to park there.
  5. Jus thanks for your thoughts. I have to decided if it is worth my hassle to pursue this or let it go. I'm just steaming right now that she did this. Once I can cool off and see more clearly I'll probably let it go.
  6. csavage7 great news thanks for posting. So you have a CMax built in September like mine. Your the first I've heard from. I knew Ford didn't just build mine that month. Enjoy the ride...
  7. Wanted to share an unpleasant experience I had at work today, see attached picture. I work part time in Palo Alto California as a supervisor for a school crossing guard company. Today was the last day of the school year and I was working at this particular busy intersection crossing students. When I returned from my 1 hour shift I found a Palo Alto Police officer standing next to my Max along with a nice older than me lady whom I found out was the owner of the home I was parked in front of. As I approached I asked if there was a problem? The officer said yes is this your vehicle? You are illegally parked in the middle of her driveway opening. She called and complained. I said your kidding what driveway? The officer said that driveway and proceeded to point to it. Sure enough I was indeed parked in front of her driveway which I never saw in my hurry to park and get to my corner for work. Rather than bore you with all the details I tried getting out of this obvious error on my part by using the excuse I never saw it or I never would have parked here if I had. Followed by can't you cut me some slack since I'm a city servant ensuring the safety of the city's children? The officer said sorry she (the owner) is filing a complaint so I have to write you a ticket for illegal parking per California vehicle code # XYZ. So I have to pay $46 to clear this up. Now here is the clincher and the root of my topic title above. Apparently the woman before calling the police took matters into her own hands, maybe to vent her frustration over my doing this injustice to her? I don't know. But as the attached pictures shows she took a black felt tip marker and wrote a note across my windshield which was strategically written right in my line of sight behind the wheel. The note reads..."Blocking Drive took a picture called the police. Now is it just me or has this sweet old lady crossed the line and declared war on my CMax? I think I have a case against her for trashing my private property. I just might make a call to the Palo Alto City police tomorrow. I was in the wrong I admit, but I think she crossed the line of her rights as a city property owner by writing on my car. I just hope the writing will come off otherwise I'm going to need a new windshield. As big as it is guess what that will cost? Comments anyone?
  8. Good Job, my platinum white isn't coming any where near those numbers. I'm not even trying anymore, it is what it is. My top mpg is 44.5, with my average at 40
  9. I think there is something wrong with my SEL. If a brand new owner can drive home with A/C on and already capture a 44.5mpg reading. Then there is something wrong with my car. I've been driving since September of 2012 and I can't get above 41mpg running on premium while driving on flat roads with the A/C off. This is really getting to me or can anyone tell?
  10. Hello forum, just wanted to review the Intro-Tech custom fit auto shade for my CMax which came today after ordering through Amazon for $48.30 total delivered. Yes it is very long as you can expect to cover the large windshield, but that's to be expected. After placing it up to the windshield it lives up to it's description as "Custom Fit" because it completely covers the entire area of the glass and lays flat along the "A" pillars on both sides when pushed into place with your hands. Then along the top tucked into place under the trim on either side of the rear view mirror. Lastly it fits in place along the bottom where the glass meets the dashboard. Once I had it in place it held there on it's own without the sun visors pulled down to support it, however the included instructions tell you to lower them for added support. The thing I really like is it lays pretty close to flat all the way across the windshield which is cool since I'm very anal about things fits neatly. From outside looking at the windshield it completely covers the glass and reaches flat to all trim pieces top, sides, and bottom no roll up issues as other have mentioned with other designs. For storage it rolls up easily after you pull it out from behind the mirror and roll it up towards you in the drivers seat. I had no problem doing this alone despite the large size. Once rolled up, wrap the velcro strap around it for closure and throw it in the back seat or behind in the storage area, but I can't reach it from there to install without getting out of the seat obviously. Later I will post pictures from the inside and the outside, but all in all I think this is the best solution available for the CMax to protect our large dash and interior like my leather seats from direct UV damage. Not to mention help with summer heating. Price for me was reasonable for such a nice fitting design. Much better than those zig zag fold up cardboard screens I used in my Datsun Z in the 70's and 80's. Or those weird twist and fold round twin screens. I rate it 5 stars for fit and design for the vehicle intended.
  11. Matt, I'm kind of thinking the same way. Since I will be buying gas less frequently, I might can go with premium to get the better numbers.
  12. c-mas sel? That must be a new prototype variant of the SEL? LOL :) just giving you a bad time, enjoy
  13. I would get a second but my wife is a lead foot, another would be a waste of money. She drove mine and registered the worst tank ever at 35mpg averge
  14. armoredsaint what LED lights did you use there? Curious
  15. tell me about it, I have two tiny dings like a pointed object poked my door right next to the drivers door handle. It happened at my church too. Can't even trust those I worship with, now that's bad. So sorry you have experienced this too
  16. I wish I could come close to matching those numbers. But the fact remains I can't even come close. No matter what I do. Attached is a thumbnail of my personal best tank of gas. My current tank is just under halfway and my average mpg is going back and forth from 40 to 42mpg and was under 40 for most of the first half. Got as low as 35mpg. Very discouraged, I'll never make it to 600miles at this rate.
  17. Well I have to say since getting into my CMax for the first time last September, I've never noticed any bouncing. About all I can say is if I let up on the brake pedal slightly while in "D" the car creeps forward as it should because I'm in gear and the batteries are running. The torque of the electric motor pushes the car forward as I let up on my foot pressure to the gas pedal. But as it starts moving forward in EV mode from a stop there isn't any bouncing, or at least not that I've noticed. Hope you get to the bottom of this. I will be interested to hear what it takes to get you past this problem. Thanks for sharing it.
  18. MaxwellHammer, Welcome. Always glad to hear of another newbie to our numbers. Yes Laurel put it very well, take things slowly don't try to do too many things all at once. I didn't first read my manual like allot of men thought...why read the instructions I can do it on my own through experience. As Homer Simpson would say..."Doh!" Well that worked for the most part but not for everything. Several key persons on this forum were instrumental in my learning curve. I wish I knew about this forum at the very beginning when I first got my CMax in September of 2013. My dealer walked me through an instruction lesson the night I drove it home. But he only touched on the tip of the iceberg, concentrating allot on the functions of the NAV and the dashboard screens using the buttons on the steering wheel. He mentioned allot more I'm sure but verbal instructions don't work so well for this guy. Goes in one ear and out the other. Well actually that is an incorrect statement since I'm deaf in my left ear, so really the instructions went in my right ear and came right back out :). I have learned so much more by just this forum, so you are in good hands. Once again Welcome
  19. Well speaking only from the perspective of the experiences I have with pairing my iPhone 5 to my MFT. Once the system see's my iPhone after I power up the car, the screen reads...Mike's iPhone 5 is connected. The reason it says that is because that is the name I designated for my phone when I connected it to my Mac Pro workstation and brought up iTunes and gave that as the name for my iPhone. That name is stored into memory on my iPhone and it uses that name when I connect to any other devices. You mentioned Samsung Galaxy S4, I know nothing about that phone but I bet there is a similar way to designate the name of your phone. Name it what you want and I bet next time you connect it to your CMax, it will show on your screen that way. Good Luck hope that helps?
  20. So far nothing is coming the the north. Funny I'm seeing so many CMax now around here. Obviously they do not check in on the forum or don't know about it? Or don't care to participate. I'm left to wonder about all the owners I'm seeing lately. I hate to think that their Max is just a way to drive from point a to point b on less gas? And don't want socializing with other owners?
  21. My SEL was built September 2012 Nah Nanny Nah Nah I'm older LOL...:) Welcome GreenChicgo glad you gave your car a new home.
  22. I have an iPhone 5 and stream my music through the bluetooth function almost everyday. Funny the song titles and music info showing on the large screen are hit and miss. But if I select streaming through the entertainment function on the right steering wheel knob. The songs titles and Artists names appear on the right screen all the time. Same if I'm playing FM presets, the station ID will display on the right dash screen
  23. I bought this and had my dealer apply it. It looks great and really beads the rain. Runs right off my Platinum White tri-coat and doesn't seem to spot as bad after the rain stops and the sun comes out and you have all this moisture sitting on your paint and it bakes there. Usually leaving impossible to remove hard water spots. I hated this on my black paint job sport truck I used to own. Clay bar was about the only way to remove those spots, but took allot of work. Also with this coating it seems my white paint doesn't look so dirty when it is. But maybe it just seems that way?
