These cars can achieve great numbers both in town and on the highway. But not without very consistent driving on your part. No pounding on the brakes harshly, must be a slow gradual braking over a longer distance than you might be used to. That is the only way to get a 100% score under braking. You have to think ahead to your next braking and plan how to do it slowly and gradual. If I accidentally brake with a shorter harsher pedal my braking score will drop from 95% to 75% in one fail swoop. I find braking scores are my biggest threat to higher mpg ratings. Also pulling out from a stop light or stop sign requires a slower consistent acceleration over a longer distance. Starting out with a harsher pedal like in a jack rabbit start will eat into your numbers as well. All the nature of driving a hybrid I have found. The key is constancy from light to light or stop sign to stop sign. My current tank of gas is giving me a 45.3mpg average, mostly city driving. I drove 337miles on the first half of the tank. Still have a little less than half to go and hope to get a 550mpg rating. I'd love to make the 600mile club but it will take serious effort on my part I think to do it. Enjoy the ride...

I'm in northern CA and my plate is MAT 2 2 which is a bible verse for Matthew 2:2 (Where is He born King of the Jews; for we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him). Enjoy the ride. -
I've got 332 miles showing on my first half of the current tank. If this pattern repeats itself in the second half? I could be looking at a 600mile tank? Fingers crossed, but experience has shown me that fuel consumption rates are not the same in both halves of a tank. My best has been 520miles.

Well we here in the south bay area almost hit 90 degree's so it is definitely warming up. I saw a 54mpg during my commute on city streets about 10.3 miles total. I even had Max A/C running for awhile.

Really! I did not know this. Thanks for enlightening me as well.

thats pretty much what mine always says after a refill.

I pocket opened my hatch one time. Came out side and the hatch was open. Sort of like I'm always doing with my phone dialing the last person I talked with. Or random dial from my contacts list. A pain for sure.

B-MAX - Your car's little sibling in the UK
mtb9153 replied to Riddley's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I think this has a sliding rear door like a mini van. if you look closely at the picture I think there is a black track line for the door to slide back when opening the rear seat door. It runs into the tail light. -

love mine and do not regret getting it, however I bought from dealer inventory so it came with it. Would I have got it if I ordered the car? Yes, it is nice to let more light in and see the sky when driving both ay and night. Cool to be able to see the rain rush over the roof and speed. It was worth it.

...and a new fence too maybe?

Merchandise? I like the sound of that. I'll take one of everything just in case the stuff becomes collectable or disappears like in the case of my GMC Syclone.

water trapped in hatch door, drainage hole covered?
mtb9153 replied to jeff-tx's topic in Body Panels, Trim, etc.
I checked my SEL hatch and there are clear stickers over both holes on either side. No signs of water or moisture, but then it hasn't rained here much in the last month or so. I've never washed my CMAX since buying it in September, but the dealer did once after it was in for service. But I didn't check these areas since I didn't know about this, so who's to say if there was moisture behind them or not? -
I pay good money to AAA for roadside service anywhere in the US. Plus the coverage Ford extends with my extended warranty. I'm not worried about not having a spare. If I have a tire problem while crossing the country this summer to the gathering? Oh well, AAA to the rescue. Just my feelings on the subject.

Which Electric Buffer/Polisher to Get?
mtb9153 replied to Riddley's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
All I can say is why? At least the paint on my CMax is far better than any production paint job I've ever seen coming out of Detroit. Even when dirty my Platinum White looks like a million bucks. I would be too afraid of ruining the factory paint. Just my two cents. -
As long as I"m a part of this project there won't be any colorful metaphors, sorry. I think the use of the logo from the UK would work nicely on the front. As for the back, maybe a simple statement advertising the event and date once it is known.

woohoo great job and numbers :)

What's your favorite My View and why?
mtb9153 replied to C-Maxgo's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I use power+threshold on the left side with current average mpg displayed. On the right side I have the screen which shows my current power, cruising, and accel levels. I find by keeping these as close to 100% as possible most of the time has really caused my numbers to increase. Have seen it go as high as 51.3mpg -
awesome enjoy the new baby...

just keep the screen closed and your in good shape.

one more thing about leaving the wheels on. The plastic bags they supply you to cover your discs will be allot harder to install, not impossible with our wheel design having so many closer spokes in the wheel design. The ones they use in their instructional videos are much more open than the CMax wheels

After watching the on car wheel treatment video again at www.dipyourcar.com I've decided the on car technique might have been the better way to go. One thing I will say is be sure you have a fresh coat of tire shine on your tires before you start painting. I didn't and it made removing the overspray allot harder. I ordered the 4 cans of black dip, one can per wheel. Then three cans for the glossifer after coat. They market on their website a kit for dipping 4 wheels. Just choose the base color you want and the glossifer if you want a shiny finish instead of the satin or dull I think better describes it. After having mine done for about 2 months now they have become dirty with driving in repeated rainy days here.. I'm glad I used the glossifier since they wouldn't look so good without giving them a bath. Just my opinion.
