HeatShield sunshade for the 2013 CMax
mtb9153 replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Jus, I was at Target over the weekend and they had a big screen on their display running video supposedly shot with the Go Pro. There were scenes under water since it is rated to 195ft I think? As a Video geek the quality of the video was flawless and all in High Def at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Plus it seems they have a 3D model if that sort of thing impresses you? I personally don't need it, just a high quality HD video is enough for me. Some of the footage taken by Snowboarders while jumping off mountain peaks down near vertical slopes is very clear and steady. Spectacular footage of your favorite extreme wintersport. -
Couldn't have hauled all that with a Energi, at least not as nicely. :)

HeatShield sunshade for the 2013 CMax

Jus, I'm hoping to get a GoPro HD cam for Fathers Day which would work excellent for just about any reason I need to record while driving or whatever. I put the bug in the wife's ear that I need one of them. We'll see if it happens? -
HeatShield sunshade for the 2013 CMax

I just ordered from Amazon The Intro-Tech Automotive Custom Auto Shade for $39.95 I will review the shade once it arrives and I can try it out for fit. -
Ok it looks like I'm going to need to try premium, at least for a tank or so just to see what effect it has on my low Average MPG levels. You guys are killing me.

Jus yes I remember the thread and thanks for sharing it. But I'm not sure I understand the manner in which you do this. Are you punching the gas off the line for a brief time and then letting off to glide or coast as I call it? How much do you gas it? just not clear on the process.

Jus I know that run, I think they pros call it "shooting the bowl" it looks like a crazy run and certainly out of my league. As a snow skier I was never very advanced or very good. Usually spent my time getting warm in the lodge getting to know the bartender. I always had trouble with shin splints and intense pain which made it hard to control the ski's. I gave it up.

Well if I ever have to change the cabin air filter myself it doesn't look like it will be as easy as my previous car a 2005 Saturn Vue Redline. It was located under the hood at the base of the windshield right on the cowl, where it should be. Why shove it under the dash where it is so hard to get to? I'm sure there was a good reason for putting it there? Like making sure the techs were the only ones to do it and they could charge for it. Glad I took the extended warranty and have a second one behind the first when it runs out.

Well here's what I have to say about running premium. If you can afford it, go for it, should give you better mileage because of the higher octane and certainly better performance. I used to have two performance trucks that were turbocharged and required premium. I got tired of the high price which is why I sold both trucks. I can see myself trying once and a while running premium but don't think it will ever become a regular thing. Paying $50 to fill up my Max with cheap regular is bad enough. Plus I'm not into performance anymore, it is all about economy now. Opposite end of the spectrum from my truck days. Come to think of it, I've never even punched my Max yet to see what it can do. Slow and go is my motto now.

Jus, not a bad idea. I haven't been to Mammoth since 1998 when I went there in the summer as an employee for a Mountain Bike downhill event. I used to work for a mtn bike suspension company called RockShox as a snowboarder I bet you have heard of them? All the engineers when they weren't racing downhill on two wheels, they were boarding downhill in the winter. I love the area, been there once in the snow and it was beautiful. Reminded me allot of Kirkwood where I was introduce to skiing back 1981. I could do an owners event in Mammoth, would be fun. Reminds me of the many owners gatherings we had every summer in the mid 90's in south Lake Tahoe always in conjunction with Reno's Hot August Nights. I was a member of the International Syclone/Typhoon Owners Association. We always met at a Best Western right off Kingsbury Grade just past Stateline on hiway 50. We always had so many trucks show for this that we would almost close out the Best Western. I was surprised they let us come back each year because we would hang out in the parking lot until all hours of the night talking cars or trucks in that case. And there was always lots of beer involved so contributed to the noise level. Patrons would complain about the noise and we'd have to tone it down for 10 or 15 minutes, then it was right back where it was. Great fun we had every year. How many of your pals in soCal might be in for something like this? If we did something like this? It would be fun in August around the 5th. Why the 5th? That's my birthday and we always had the Syclone Typhoon event on or around my birthday. This year is a milestone birthday for me, I hit 60...ugh! Yes I'm that old...vintage 1953. We can kick this around and see if there any interest? The wife and I were talking about going to Michigan as part of my birthday, but if they decide to have the event in September, unless I take time off to do it from work I possibly can't go.

Hi CMax Owners within the great San Francisco Bay Area. Since the weather is gearing up for summer and I'm used to having car shows during this time. I thought it might be fun to have a local gathering of CMax Owners at some convenient locale to everyone who might be interested. I would like to do this on a Saturday since my Sunday's is filled with my Church activities at least until 1pm. I know some of you might have kids with sports events filling your weekend free space so we'll see what can be done. This would also work great for promoting Green driving awareness for any passer-bys who happened to walk by. So location might be a plus in high visibility sites. I'm open to drive anywhere that might be best. We could coordinate this with food and everyone could bring what they like best. I just would like to get a big collection of these cars in one location since I'm seeing more and more CMax driving around the bay area. Maybe a local Ford dealership might welcome hosting this? Drum up some public awareness and possibly some new sales? I'm going to run this past my friend and salesman at Frontier Ford in Santa Clara to see if something could happen? Everybody chime in with a yay or nay to this idea. I know this might not be interesting to some since cars are just a way to move from point A to point B in these trying gas price days, but think about it and hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Mike

REALLY! went over to Prius because of the center console armrest and Prius V was bigger and got better mileage? Not if you try hard enough, just work at it and the numbers can be obtained. This forum has proven that point time and time again. Lets see a Prius get 700miles to a tank. I'm tired of the CMax bashing Sorry don't mean to be a hard head but Ford clearly has the better product. You caught me on a testy day.

Last production run for California was Dec. 19th?
mtb9153 replied to dalebunker's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Dalebunker, if anyone in norcal still has an SEL with 303a package, it would be my dealer in Santa Clara. Frontier Ford has the largest selection of CMax in stock of anywhere I've seen at least as of last week. If you call inventory manager Dan Duran 408-557-6236 and tell him Mike Bridges gave you his number, he will assist you anyway he can. He is very helpful and a great guy. He went out of his way to find me one of the black plastic thingys which goes into the center console to separate the cupholders. My SEL with 302a didn't come with one. Good Luck to you. -

Well CMax are not in short supply at my dealer where I bought my car in San Jose. Last time I checked (they had over a dozen in stock, mostly Energi models). Sales were brisk at first when I bought mine in September, but after the news over lawsuits things dropped off. -
Open invitation and question to those struggling with their mileage.
mtb9153 replied to Recumpence's topic in Fuel Mileage
I'm attaching two pictures I took today after I fueled up with my 25th tank since purchase in September. I ran the tank down to 2 miles from empty and took 12.754 gallons. When I reset my fuel history after the fillup it said 588 to empty, how will I ever make it to 600miles if my computer doesn't give me the numbers at refill? I was up to 43.0 average mpg at refueling. It had been as low as 18.6 but steadily moved up as the tank ran down which I thought was strange. I'm doing everything I can from the info I've got from this forum to try and reach the 600 mile club but can't quite make it. It's driving me nuts hearing from those of you which have reached that lofty goal and now someone has hit the 700 mile mark...geez. -
Very nice, you are very clever rigging this together. At first I was not sure about the spring clips, but after looking at the close-up pic, I see they are what most call a caribiner used allot by mountain climbers to secure their ropes. I use one to secure all my keys. Thanks for posting.

I doubt it will work very well. That is why it is there to complete the signal path. But give it a shot, nothing to loose.

Thanks Recumpence I will give this a try and hopefully I will see a difference.

What's your favorite My View and why?
mtb9153 replied to C-Maxgo's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I love the fact that we have an electric pump/compressor for the A/C. When I get caught in freeway traffic (which is allot of the time) I can sit at a dead stop and still enjoy plenty of cool air in the cabin. Not like the old days with a belt driven compressor which robbed power from the ICE and also caused overheating when in a slow or stopped situation with it running for a period of time. CMax is good -
I want to ask how in the world is that possible? I'm doing everything I've learned on this forum and I'm having trouble maintaining 40mpg average with 70 degrees on flat rural roads. Have you increased the air pressure in your tires above what Ford and Michelin recommends? I'm happy for you but green as hell with envy.
-
Just when I thought it couldn't happen, somebody goes and does it. Geez I'd be happy if I could just get 600. I'm having trouble getting past 569 as my personal best tank

keeping CMax in the family...I like that.

Love that color, your detailing looks very sweet. Love the shine on the tires in the sun.

I'm cheering for Rachel to pull this off. Come on Cajun Power!

Im sorry I don't know what E10 is exactly. I assume it is an Ethanol blend of fuel? We can burn it in the CMax? I thought it required a Flex Fuel system to use it?
