Came with paint chips and proximity sensor of another color
mtb9153 replied to nemonik's topic in General Discussion
Nemonik, I would think Ford would be quite concerned to hear of these mistakes you've outlined. Also equally I would think they would be eager to make things right for you, after all you bought a new car expecting nothing but a perfect car and paint. My C-Max is an SEL and the same color as yours. We have a 2 stage paint job so thinking you can fix scraps and dings with buying a bottle of touch-up paint isn't going to happen. If there is any you can buy it won't look very nice once you try fixing the bad paint. Others on this forum have talked about this same subject of DIY paint repair. Enjoy the ride... -
Welcome superseagulls nice to have you with us. As a new member you might not of had time to surf around on this forum. You might not be aware that we are in the planning stage of holding a National Owners Gathering Event to be held at a time and date yet to be determined. The place is all we have at this point while Ford irons out the specifics. The plan is to meet at the Ford Assembly Plant where all our C-Maxes were born in Wayne, Michigan. A tour of the plant is planned and a tour of the Ford Proving Grounds nearby in Dearborn I believe. Also there is the idea of taking a road trip up into the Upper Peninsula to visit a popular lakefront resort area off Lake Michigan called Sleeping Bear Dunes. Personally I've never heard of it, but suppose to offer nice views of the lake with sand dunes, great shops and nice places to stay if you have the extra time. Should be allot of fun meeting with other owners, comparing cars, options. Also at the gathering event we have the chance to meet with Ford Engineers who designed our cars. Pick their brains and give them valuable feedback we all are acquiring while driving these wonderful little cars. Will be a long drive for me, I'm in Northern California, but I'm looking forward to doing it. Has been a long time since I drove across the US, got in too much of a hurry and always fly to where ever I'm going. Anyway think about it and if it sounds like fun, will be fun to meet you in person. Take care and enjoy the ride.

I tried a trick another owner mentioned about setting tire pressure to 42psi. I did this to the front tires since they do the driving and I rarely carry a large load in the rear. The next day as I was driving my commute to Palo Alto, thats in NorCal for those of you east of the bay area. Right away I noticed on the trip 1 screen that my mpg had gone as high as 41.9 (just cant seem to pull out a 42). Before changing the tire pressure I never got more than 40.9. As hard as I try being fuelish I still barely pull out a 500mile tank, like the one I'm finishing today. It is a beautiful almost spring sunny day in the mid 60's here, sorry those of you in the freezing cold. Even so I'm not able to pull out 42+ mileage. Not sure what it will take to get there? Maybe my Max needs adjustment? I'm very jealous of those of you who are regularly seeing high 40's and even some 50's.

Yes it is pretty cool stuff, I had to do some touch ups after having issues with paint getting on the tapered surface where the lug nuts seat to the wheels. The nut as it was tighten caught the dip and pulled it off so it peeled back enough around the lug nut that the stock wheel color was exposed. So I had to repaint those areas. Only trick was getting it thick enough to blend in around the undamaged painted edges. But as you say after it was done and I drove it a few days, I can hardly find the retouched areas. The thing I really like about Plasti-dip is there's no need to scratch up the factory finish. Only requirement is that the surface be clean and dry before applying the dip. Don't like it anymore or want to change colors? Peel it off and good as new again. Great Product but noxious paint fumes, apply with good ventilation.

Very good thought, thanks for bringing it up, I did see some that could go in a grille, but they don't cost much so I'm leary of the quality. Get what you pay for they say.

I'm wanting to modify my headlights to include those white LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights) which are standard on so many of the new cars today. I especially like the ones on the Tesla Model S. I found a website with a promising possibility. But the question remains if they can be adapted to a C-Max Headlight assembly and not butcher the lights too much? Does anyone know if there is a way to get inside the factory lights to make such a modification? Might be trying to bite off more than I can chew with this project. I just wish Ford had spent the extra cost per car and made these standard or an option if desired. I would have paid for it. Think it looks good, but just my opinion.

Very sorry you had a boo boo, I did this very same thing to my passenger mirror. Fortunately though it only scuffed the paint a little. I also ran my right front fender into a work bench while driving in the garage and it put a 4 inch long crease in the paint and cause a stress ripple to form in the sheet metal further down the fender. Very unhappy about this turn of events. :(

Does anybody know if the 12 volt battery is available outside of Ford? I've never seen a 12 volt that has terminals like that so I'm thinking Ford will be the only place to get one. On my past vehicles I've always replaced the factory battery with an Optima Red Top spiral technology battery. They are pricy but warrantied for 10 years and easy to find at most auto parts stores. Also they can sit unused for a year and crank right over first time. Just wondering if anyone has any info regarding replacement options.

bet Hertz would be the one with CMAX rental cars, they are big with using Ford products in their inventory fleet. At this is the case I've seen at some of the airports I've landed at. Mustangs are always a big ticket option at Hertz.

Horn Notification of Door Lock
mtb9153 replied to darrelld's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
There is a way to tell whether or not your doors locked by touching the black square on the front seat door handles. At first for the added security I was locking with the FOB and pushing the button twice so the horn would toot! But I noticed something when pushing the black pad on the door handle. I have poor hearing and if there is allot noise around me I don't always hear the clicking sound that is made when the doors lock electronically. So here's the tip, when you push the black pad on the door handle, look through the front seat window and you will notice a small rectangular yellow light comes on next to the lock symbol on the center instrumentation cluster right below the volume knob for the audio system. At first I was pushing the lock symbol trying to see what it did...and nothing would happen. Give this a try if you haven't already found this to be true. Cheers! -
Very nice images, thanks for posting them. I especially like the one's with the fog showing through the headlight and foglights. Nice effect

yes I ran the meter up to the nearest dollar after the pump shut off on it's own. So that added a bit more to my refuel.

Well just racked up my personal best tank of gas since buying the Max in September, not 600 miles but almost. I think we need a 500mile club since the 600mile mark seems to elude me. Take a look. Took 13.88 gallons to refill and $51.00 out of my pocket. But the nice thing is I went for a week on that tank of gas

Ok I've found a way to resize the pictures of my painted wheels and caliper covers. What size should I make it? Thanks
