Rachel keep reminding yourself that you are so much more fuelly while driving your CMAX

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
mtb9153 replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
This is reassuring since at home I switched to Apple computers to get away from the qurky issues related to Microsoft based applications and systems. Long live Apple and it's much steadier operation performance -
Rachel, it is sprayed on and I took the tires and wheels off, but the video's online (www.dipyourcar.com) from the guy I bought the paint from shows that it can be done with leaving the tires and wheels on. Either way.

Rachel, I have started using the coaching screen as the right side of my myview layout. The Accel, Braking, Cruising levels are very important to getting higher mpg numbers I found out yesterday after being coached by Jus-A-CMax. The trick is to maintain the blue efficiency line as close as you can to 100% in all three categories. Once I did this I logged my first 50+ mpg reading in the trip summary when I got home and shut the car off. I've still got allot of improving to do with the braking portion as my score was only at 84%. Jus-A-CMax gave me an "F" grade for that and told me to try again.

Fog lights / Retrofit
mtb9153 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I keep forgetting that my C-Max is really our C-Max! Meaning my wife and I, she has voiced plenty of negative feedback regarding my want to remove the fog lights so I'd better leave them as they are. Sorry to get your hopes up. -
Very nice, stealthy looking. I'm leary to do this here in Northern CA because I had this done on a pickup and a local police pulled me over and cited me for putting tint on my side windows, it was a mylar film application. Made me take it off. Glad it wasn't a tint to the glass, would have been much more difficult to remove.

Yah I know need lots of improvement on the braking side. It is hard to do long gradual braking around here as I approach an intersection. By this I'm referring to the busy 4 lane intersections in either direction of a roadway. People here get real upset if I brake slowly over longer distance to increase my braking numbers. Much easier to do this on the less busy neighborhood type roads with one lane in either direction. The drivers around here are mostly Indian, Asian and in such a hurry to get to their high paying Apple Computer jobs. They really get pissed if I try to improve my numbers. But it really surprised me much difference it made when I changed my settings in myview to include the braking, cruising, accel screen.

Fog lights / Retrofit
mtb9153 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
how easy is it to remove the light/grille covers from the front bumper? what is involved? I assumed the underside air cover must be removed from underneath the bumper? Or possibly the inner fender wheelwell cover to gain access to the back of the light assemblies? If I remove them then my fog light switch on the dash will have no purpose which doesn't excite me. I could possibly reuse/rewire it to switch on/off the white led DRL's I plan to add at some point once I find the ones I want. I'm wanting a 6 or 8 LED light bar to put in the front grille on either side of the Ford Logo. Philips makes one I'm considering, also Hella. -
Well I finally saw the biggest numbers I've ever seen come up on my dashboard screen. I feel it was all because I finally learned the importance of maintaining highest level of efficiency using the screen showing Braking, Accel, Cruising as part of the right side of myview screen setup. Take a look... I'm very happy to exceed a 50+ reading

Sounds great Rachel. Our family usually just meets at my sisters house on Easter, color eggs. Have great dinner together, then afterwards usually the adults will hid plastic eggs with small amounts of change inside the two halves. The kids will go look for them and once they are all found, sit down and count up all their change they found. It is fun to watch my sisters son(13) and daugther(21) and her boyfriend(21) look for the eggs and count up their money. But this year I'm not sure how it will all work since my Dad(84) recently moved into an Alzheimers Care facility. Maybe we will do the egg hunt there? Not sure how it will all work.

definitely like your thinking, mod on my friend

Fog lights / Retrofit
mtb9153 replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Funny you want to add fog lights, I wish I had the vents you have. The factory lights don't do much in the fog, pretty cheap in my opinion. -
Excuuuuusssse Meeeeee! each person has their own preference's for what looks good to them. Guess I'll stay out of Virginia in the future. Sorry Rachel this one got to me.

I have done everything I know to pull out three 500+ mile tanks, one at 500 flat, another at 515, and one at 520. Those are my best tanks. To get them I was running on fumes at the end. On the 520 tank the gauge said 1 mile to empty. The 515 tank was a bit more before empty. I just don't know how to get more? Or even if the car in it's present configuration is capable for getting more. Just when I think I've got a good shot at a 600mile tank after posting 300+ miles on the first half of the tank. The second half is less than the first with only 175 or 200miles. My second half away's seems to go more quickly.

Jus-A-CMax, very interesting comments thanks for sharing them and Rachel as well. I didn't realize MikeB was driving an Energi. I should have been suspicious with those numbers. I would be enveyous of his numbers but I can't do anything about it since I own a hybrid. Frankly I wouldn't want to sacrifice cargo space for that big battery unit just to gain another 100 or 200 miles per tank. But that's just me.

Welcome Joe, look forward to hearing more from you

Neat idea, I think I'll rig my small Sony Bloggie on a tripod and have it ready to snap shots of passing CMax. I've been seeing quite a few lately here in the south bay. If I use my 7 inch HD monitor and place it somewhere/somehow in front of me I can see to point the camera in the right direction without too much distraction behind the wheel. If nothing else it will be a fun fabrication project.

Jus a CMax to Mammoth Mountain and back!
mtb9153 replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
Great bunch of pictures Jus A-CMax, I tried skiing back in the 80's up at Kirkwood wasn't too good and never tried it again. No regrets since it didn't agree with my legs. Shin splints were horrible shortly after starting the run from the lift. I'm very impressed with all your statistics and graphs. What sort of software do you use to chart it all? Maxine looked awesome showed little dirt after driving in snow. My platinum white sel shows dirt the most on the rear end due to the dirty air buildup. I'd like to find a better way of getting the air up and over the tail end to prevent or reduce this problem. Thought of making some sort of roof air splitters/difussors across the width of the roofline in hopes of channeling the flow better from front to rear. But not sure it would have an impact? Was thinking about driving south to Irvine next week since I need to send my High Def camcorder to Canon for repairs. But decided it was more practical to ship it. Makes me nervous shipping a $4k camera, but I guess that is what insurance is for? Have a good week, safe driving. -
Aero Mods? You caught my attention since I've been wanting to do the same but do not know where any items can be purchased for the C-Max. Nobody carries them. Are you planing to make your own? I was toying with the idea of attaching a universal carbon fiber air disfuser under the front bumper. Also wanting to fabricate a rear disfuser but not sure how and not wanting to disable the hands-free tailgate function. Also a low profile roof wing of some design located on the factories poor excuse for a rear spoiler.

Great will love to see your pics after you are finished. I also dipped the Hybrid logo's on the front doors, along with the laser cut custom acrylic C-Max logo's I had done by a local plastic shop. They look just like factory logo on the tailgate or on both front doors on an Energi. I wanted my non plug-in SEL to look just like an Energi and confuse other owners.
-
Rachel how about this? I just made it with die-cut letters I bought at a OfficeMax store. Should get the word out to C-Max owners locally????
-
How in the world do you get 2 tanks in a row at 600 miles? I have to work my butt off to pull out a 500 miler. Very interested to know the secret. Of course it doesn't help me that in the mornings I have the heater at 74 and in the afternoon drive home I have the A/C on.
-
Rachel how well does that coaster fit in the cup holder of the C-Max? Or should I say is it about the same diameter? Or real loose fitting? Curious cause they do get nasty with several beverages sweating in there.

AAA has been my insurance since I started driving in 1972. Have no complaints with them. Very sorry this happen to you and your wife and your Jag. But glad she is healing. Prayers for a 100% recovery
