Doom....doom...dooooooom I say....its like that one scratch I found on my rear bumper as I washed Maxine this afternoon (which by the way was a lovely 70F) and I was spewing I didn't buy the scuff protector. I just used the white magic on it and buffed it out. I know it's still there...still there....doom, doom, doom I say! :)

Thanks man, she still has pains from that crash but your prayer are much appreciated :) In regards to AAA, my quam is their ethics but hey, we're talking insurance companies here but I guess in this day and age, it's "whatever" and no more right or wrong. Sad :nonono:

Thats sad to hear, why the hell would an owner over here should effect how you drive - it's your car and at most, the posters here just give their opinion. This is suppose to be fun on the forum and to learn from one another. However, there are always certain individuals who will be negative towards everything. Just put that person on your IGNORE preference - wallah. I'm leaving mine on. Works for me to get the extra juice as I climb hill to get back to my house, gotta pay for the panoramic view you know :) Rachel - the battery does drain a little more but it will always switch on ICE when it has to - smart Ford. I know personally saved a ton of gas using my EV+.

loco? perhaps... Not proud of our Mel but hell, he's loco as well... Anyway...sorry to hear about the scrape. Superglue won't fix that but it'll fix 99.99% of other things like paper cuts. Hmmmh, that could be an expensive buff and rub and buff... :nonono:

Screwdriver and superglue. C'mon - the answer is always superglue.

Hey welcome there catsailor :) Nice posting and MPGs. Careful now, some posters have doubts that 47 is achievable, must be CR subscribers ;) -
You know, my wife went thru the same TBONE with her Jaguar late last year. That SOB failed to look and just turned right into her jaguar - right between the wheel and the drivers side door, the side bars saved my wife's life but shes still undergoing chiro for the soft tissue damaged. That accident knocked out our $30,000 Jaguar Vanden Plas. The kicker was that the driver admitted fault but AAA (the other driver's insurance) reneged on their admission and so its insurance company vs insurance company with no witnesses. However, the physical damage and photos prove it is impossible for my wife to be at fault...that SOB will have bad karma but the truth of the matter is that the other drivers will always lie. Anyway, glad you're OK and I hope you take lots and lots of photos cause that guy or his insurance will turn around the lie, I have no doubt. Good news was that I got the CMax and she's now driving my Jagua Vanden Plas, she luvs the bigger Jags and I don't blame her for trusting that car. PS Stay away from AAA, they are a POS - even offering a measly $1,500 to settle the case. FU AAA.

Having AC on only means your batt levels drains a tad faster. However, if you keep a decent regen cycle going, you're fine and won't notice any diff. Oh, AC on also effects the shutters and aerodynamics established by some posters. & Very nice Hannah...thats a decent distance as wel. Good to see your odo at 4391, you're well into the engine break-in based on my own experience. Look forward to higher MPGs. The sweet spot of this car is 45mph - 55mph - which is similar speed I drive when I do my runs to Ventura on Los Angeles. Keep'em posting Hannah!!! -

Jus-A-CMax replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Hey Plus 3, does using just the air flow (no A/C) effect the shutters? As you know, sometimes when you turn on the Climate, it automatically kicks in the AC and then I switch it off but leave the airflow on. Thanks for all the great research by the way - much appreciated :) -
Thanks Sparky - all added.

Thanks Ceemax71, I'll add it to the Post #1. Wow, you sure want to make me work... ;)

Its been mid 80s and my ambient temp actually touched 90 so yeah, lets settle this active grill shutters once and for all. Too many diverging opinions from the Engineers and the posters but I am glad ptjones and alike have the resources to try and figure this one out - these grill makes a big impact to the FE of the car. Speaking of which, I think this ICE high mpg mode has it purpose. While imo, the P&G is still slightly superior since you are doing 2 regen cycles and saving gas there - the ICE High MPG will do a continuous burn of the gas throughout but where it has strong merit is the uphill gradient. There a long stretch going east on the 118 that is all upslope between 1st and Yosemite (the Gen knows this) and this mode is great for that stretch when it will recharge the batts high and speed just a tad above the 65mph. I have the numbers for one run that is from Oxnard to North Hollywood (~50 miles) with the ICE High MPG and I am just waiting for another job in Oxnard to run the same route with the P&G. Such a fun car to drive and PLAY :) -
Nice experience, nothing like figuring out the goodies..oh, cool it does this, oh, cool it does that. I had people, when I park in Costco, walking around my car a few days ago and I happily recant my experience with the car and also let them sit in the drivers seat, turn on the ignition and show 'em my mpgs...they love that, and they were driving an F250. We are the start group for the CMaxs and by the end of this year, everyone will know what a CMax is...who knows, 5 years down the line the CMax will be as established as the Prii and Gen 3 will be doing 100 eMPG. As I said to Ford at Irvine, "if this is what you do with a 1st Gen, I hate to think to how sweet the Gen 2 will be". Good stuff, please continue to share your "oooh its a CMax" stories :)

I've had me SEL Cmax about a month & 4300 miles. Only averaging 33-35mpg
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jrust's topic in Welcome
Good for you, I am sure you can get much better MPG biking it ;) You have no idea of the road, the terrain, the traffic, the load or anything and my effort and concentration is just me - some call this fun and also, you have no idea that even doing 70+ is an automatic ticket from the CHP...because you have no idea. Such negativity...ssshh. -
Well congratulations on your new baby - enjoy the ride and you'll be one very informed driver of your car, thats for sure.

Jus-A-CMax replied to Jrust's topic in Welcome
...would you consider 51.5 MPG over 290 miles more appropriate? :) I sympathise, seems like some CMaxs are not even getting past 40MPG but I live in a much warmer side and my engine is still breaking in (8800 miles odo) and improving mileage. No grill covers here. Also in the Fuel Mileage section, do check out the Gen's ICE High MPG and see if that trick works if you have no choice to use ICE all the time. -
Thanks zhackwyatt...beat me to it :) Welcome back Laurel...lots of treasures all over the forum. If we told you where they all were, that would not be fun...go seek and you will be rewarded with more fairy mpg dusts

Seems like the Escape was more a competitor to the CMax than the Prii, both pretty and got a nice lift gate ;) Welcome to the forum lowbar :)
