  1. +1 that is the main reason why my business for our family's new CMax went to Galpin Motors. There is another thread here that is useful for us new CMax owners, basically testimonials/comments as to which are the :runaway: service dealers and which are the  dealers : http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/917-recommended-dealers-for-purchasing-and-servicing-a-c-max/
  2. Someone got :baby: pwned :baby: ? Ha....congratulations and enjoy the car!
  3. Hee... pretty sure they did. They were happily cruising at 65mph and I was -umh- P&G close to 10-15 above the limit and gliding down on the right hand side, occasionally cruising to their lane to go past some slow traffic. As a new owner, if I noticed them, they would have noticed me. Who knows...this is a small world, perhaps they may come across this site... I am biased but I am sure glad Max is prettier than the competitor...*blows and polish the knuckles*
  4. Ha...thats what my wife said when we were at the rental place..."go pick up the van so I can use it to move my stuff". did she, nope :runaway:
  5. The Volt never entered into my look-at-list and the way Max is panning out, the fold flat seating and high roof space is SUPERB. Max is working out to be a great all around car for all our long haul trips and saving me gas money at the same time. Ever dollar saved is more beer money, gotta luv that.
  6. I am luvin the eco-cruise and here's where it helps - set it to 55-60mph going up a long hill. It will throw in the extra EV when it needs to. Also, I observed, and I have no documented proof of this, but if the batts are more charged (3/4 to full) more EV is utilized and the better MPG using this eco-cruise. I have seen it happen even at speeds greater than 65MPH.
  7. I live in the greater Los Angeles area. This city is DOMINATED by Prius and the CMax is still a pretty rare sighting. So it was with such great delight that as I shorty got onto the 101 freeway to head south, I saw another CMax cruising by me. Wouldn't you know ------ its the same Platinum White, same SEL model and from the same Galpin Motor dealership...whats the odds of that? So being an appraiser, my camera is always on the ready...and I snapped this as I drove past: Its brand new and I would say, less than a month old (CA DMV is pretty quick to send out your plates nowadays) and the guy was cruising at around 65mph. I was P&G especially on those rolling hills near Agoura Hills (love this stretch of the road). I think what was most memorable for me in this instance was to actually see a car just like your own, as it looks on the freeway.... :shift: So, here's my thread - if you see your twin CMax, post it here...
  8. No worries Gen, its cool and I was tired so I should not have posted.Hey heres a tip - if anytime you need to go from the 118 to the 101 use Box Canyon as much as you can. If you're like me, you spend some fuel climbing to the peak going west on the 118 and then it's an INSANE ALL ELECTRIC downhill to Valley Circle and then the 101. Its run like this that I WISH Ford could have given us bigger batteries, I could not charge anymore. This morning, I had a blue GT Mustang as I got off the 118 to head to the Box Canyon exit, he did not stay long on my ass....this CMAx can corner baby!!!!!! Heres another "short" run (greater than 25 miles) from Lindero Canyon Rd (near Kanan) and all the way to North Hollywood via the 101 and at 60-70mph. I think my engine is opening up, its just under 4000 miles at the moment: Yeah, I know my braking is sucky
  9. +1 on that Dodge Grand Caravan brick. When that nitwit hit my wife's Jaguar and tboned it to death, that was my rental car while she drove my Jaguar. Given the distances I travelled, I could not get anything out of mile-ing that thing including neutral hill descents and what I found out is that the idle rpms is pretty darn high and you're not saving anything by coasting it in neutral. Mileage really sucked but did I LUV the space in that thing....CMax storage on steroids.
  10. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the CMax. I've driven many long trips including some 5 hr hauls and I have to say, the seats are great, no backache, comfortable and keeps me alert. Do the light changes when its night with the engine on and doors closed (as obvious as that sounds, I know, I know). Lots of great reading and discussions going on here so jump in!!!
  11. Not surprising, its damn cold out there across the west coast and moving across to the East, hey it is winter and hybrids suck in the cold. Most of the time the ICE is on and also, as I found out, using the EV even at 55mph, seems to be less than "useful", in the sense that the EV power doesn't seem to give it enough oomph to sustain that speed as say, at 50F. The cold is taking a toll on the EV. We are talking about -4F here, as compared to say regular 50F driving. That's one of the observation from my second trip to Mammoth. Oh driving on the icy, snowed roads to the town, Max was superb, no spin, controlled and steered great.
  12. . Ha...I wish I could have doctored my MPGs from Mammoth tonight. Man I am tired, just driving back after riding the mountain. Oh Max hit a new low, low temp, -4F...that is cold. I wished I had ptjones grill plates that night.... :redcard: ...lighten up dude....for starters, its less than 25 miles so if you want to be a tight wad about it just cause it doesn't meet the OP subject title, but I thought I would post it as its a high anyway. Here, just take it as an amusement for your senses, as you are so concerned with me having a full battery charge and utilizing it to my advantage all whilst driving along one of the main and busiest east-west major roads in the valley with all the stops lights. C'mon, you know Victory Blvd, you cannot say its not a busy road loaded with tons of traffic lights start/stop. As an fyi, on this day, I drove from San Fernando to Newbury Park to Encino Hills (up and around Encino Hills) to North Hollywood and back to San Fernando for 43.6MPG and about 106 odd miles along the 118, 101, 170 and whatever street or freeway I may care to take and at whatever speeds and at whatever temps. Yes, my Max can coast and I am happy :wub2:
  13. When I was test driving the CMax, I notice the Micro$oft logo so I said to the sales guy...."dude, you know its going to get BSOD". Interestingly, when he pulled out the same car for the next test drive, it did a software reset when the car was turned on. So...the BSOD was replaced with some sort of system reinitialization or whatever. I am going to send my Max for an update at Ford, he said this should solve the issues with the GPS/map and hopefully this weirdness.
  14. I just came back from doing a 580 mile round trip from San Fernando, CA to Mammoth Mountain - I see this discussion is still going on so it looks like plenty of posters are trying to help out the OP.
  15. May be this is a bigger, hidden issue than first thought. I was also using the voice command to call that changed name and then it stopped working. At the time I was driving and everything seemed fine. Thats 3 of us having the similar issues.
  16. +1 Galpin Ford as well. I am a long time customer of Galpin Motors. Recapping, my history with them is Jaguars, all 3 of them. Their Jaguar sales is great. The Jaguar service is beyond great. Exception. They really take care of you there and I am going to give a big shout out to CarlosP in their service department. This guy is GOLD and the reason why my family stayed with this dealer. Now it's Ford CMax. I have yet to utilize their service department since my CMax has been great (except for the GPS issue that we all know about) which Galpin is looking into. So definitely +1 for Galpin Motor. This was something recently similar about our Galpin experience: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/891-how-not-to-sell-a-ford-c-max/
  17. I am curious, what is the real MPGs with the Prius? I have driven my neighbors 2010 Prius more than a few times and in one instance, the tank was 1/3 and I had a run from San Fernando to Thousand Oaks (off de Arboles) and back, a few local street driving (less than 5 miles total). Now it about a 77 mile round trip and I know I barely made it to the Pacoima Costco with vapours in the tank. At that time, I didn't know its got a little bitty tank (10 odd gallons) but at 1/3 tank should have been more than plenty to cover that trip since 1/3 is about 3 gallons and it does 40 miles per gallon, then it should have covered 120 miles at least. No, I didn't fang it and I did not even know if it had a sports mode button or not. So, I know some of you are Prius drivers, whats the real mileage for the Prius? Also, how does the Prius stay efficient at > 65mph as I often see them fang by at much higher speeds - are they burning or is that car still optimizing? Their EV is suppose to shut off around 40mph or less. Just curious, not wanting to start any flame wars.
  18. Its fine now. I also cold booted my droid, just to be on the safe side. And I took a few more drives locally tonight and everything is back to normal now. No freaking idea why it did that and it's been super fine till now (except for the driving on the houses in the GPS issue) and this glitch. Still looking for someone if they know how to "unstuck" it next time - just in case I am too far away from the dealer.
  19. Oh the idiosyncracies of this MyTouch Sync. So today, I changed a name on my android contact, tried to do a call to test it out and the voice command stop working. I got to my destination and then discover that after shutting off the engine and opened the door - normally this would shut down the MyTouch - the radio just kept on playing and the screen was stuck in the map. I have never seen this issue before and my mind was saying "micro$oft crap". So I decided to lock the car and go shopping. Came back and thankfully, the MyTouch was off. I started the car and noticed the clock was reset to 12 noon. Sssssh. I did call the sales guy and he said that if it didn't switch off, the whole car was needed to be brought it to have the tech boys reset it. Surely, surely, there must be an easier way?
  20. I have to try that next time, thanks for the tip.
  21. Heres the kicker - if you accelerate too fast, say 60 to 70, Max won't allow the battery to recharge on this pulse phase. I find I need to back off the acceleration to kick in the recharge. So, it's a fine line between "slow" and "too fast" as you want the battery to recharge on the up and recharge in the glide phase.
