Hang in there JohnnOhio.....seems like I really lucked out with my Maxine, the most days she was away was 3 days for the GPS fix and every update has been baby smooth. Good thing is that Ford is now looking into it since its obvious this is above and beyond the dealership service department to handle. We have the same cars, prolly built around the same time - the only difference is our dealers imho. Anyone in the Los Angeles region, stick with Galpin - nuthin but smoothness in the updates. No horror stories. Even the Gen will atest to them.

I work in the hottest place in the whole valley....and we're not talking chicks either.... ;) -
I am coming to a conclusion that a 1 bar burn is only good for recharge batts...its way too slow for LA traffic to be of any use in accelerating. I sometimes kick it in at 35mph if I need some charge. Also don't be afraid to gun it even higher either...I am pretty sure what you burn in that gunning is WAY less than a 1 bar burn to get up to that speed. Get to speed and EV away...and somewhere along the line like red light ahead, use that to build charge. At 35 mph city traffic, our EV goes a long, long way.

Honest answer - no difference for city driving but on freeway, I not convinced this blip ice high mpg is any good. I think I get more running higher psi tires---speaking of which I have to check them tomorrow...hope Galpin didn't drop them back down to 38psi from my 44psi since my 20K service... :detective: My 66 was because I had a optimized my run to work a tad and I changed my strategy of erring more on quicker acceleration from 15mph up to 38mph (above 2 bar) when my SOC was above and focussing on more EV. I noticed that last month or so, I have been erring on the "build" the SOC using the 1 bar to 1.5 bar burns...trying out the ScubaDadMiami 1 bar burns....my old way was a straight 2 bar burn...thats how I got the 833.8 so I learnt something, lost another and its coming back full circle. There is a time for slow burn and another for quick burn, its really a balance....and if the driving tips to one end or the other, than your MPG will go down. Another words I am a messed up MPG freakazoid...as someone called me once... :kookie:

Jus curious, what do others do here for fun, aside from posting about CMax, the MPG, etc etc? I'll start - I enjoy my golf. I use to play pretty well but since my year long off golf, I am coming back into the game. Its very difficult and the pros make it look so dead easy...but they hit like 1000+ balls a day, have the latest equipement that is OPTIMIZED to the hilt. Us Sunday Hackers, we get the Roger Dunn or Golfsmith retail gear, and if we hang around the Golf Forums long enough...we might pick a tip or two to tweak our golf gear. Unlike the pros with their $30,000 launch monitors, our launch monitor is our eyes. We have no physio when my back is stiff and sore. We walk in the 100F heat like bloody idiots (jus like me last Sunday) and everytime we smoke a ball - some SCUMBAG CHEAP A$$ player in the front groups would go and steal your golf ball...no honor in a game that is suppose to be played with the most honor and they preach penalizing yourself if the balls moves a fraction.... Welcome to muni golf. So thats all I do...for enjoyment. Oh I teach the junior golfers too...helps me keep my game in some shape. Gotta perform infront of the kids....its called giving back. :) So what do you do for fun?

Ah...interesting, didn't know that...yes, I definitely have navigation. Thanks Bill-N :) -
Hmmmh....it the rolling hills are net down, then you get more - and its hard to tell. East Los Angeles Ave has rolling hills and 50-55mphs through farm lands and one section I get great MPG but the way back, I lose some and visually I can't tell but the CMax can in the MPG readings.

Sounds like Aus there for a moment Laurel, everything is more expensive there. Don't worry, another reason I dropped Sirius was the utter crap traffic conditions, utterly useless and wrong. Also the annoying pop-ups for accidents that were LONG GONE. Back to the Sigalert for me.... -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid

Jus to prove the 833.8 wasn't a FLUKE and to prove that the 800 mile barrier CAN BE BROKEN....again.,... :happy feet: :skateboard: PS not sure if I posted this here already or not...but anyway... -
will these fit....

Have you tried "bliping" it...set the eco cruise on, let it run like we do on the ole ice high mpg for a few miles and when it kicks into EV at a high enuf SOC, tap the accelerator to kick in the ICE. Sometimes I find that I have to keep my foot on the feather to stop it going back to full EV....tried that?

I still am. There is a thread here arguing the merits of reg vs premium and the jury is out but myself and Matt aka Recumpence, another hypermiler here, we use it as we both see a power difference, critical for controlling our ICE burn before the glide/ev phase. Also my work route is optimized for as much ev as possible with minimal iceb so I get > mid 70s to work and I try to finish the day > 62 MPG when Maxine goes into the garage. Jus remember to play with it and understand traffic plays a major role and effect MPG good & bad.
-
The only thing no longer applicable is the old way to invoke the ice high mpg as the 63 ev limit is now gone. But apparently you can "blip" this in eco-cruise mode. Other than that the techniques/strategy works. Thanks for reading and your comments, this forum is a wonderful source of CMax information and FUN by real owners and not some magazine...and welcome to the forum :)
