  1. hybridbear - I am really sorry, sorry to hear that and I pray you and your family come out of it ok. I know exactly how you felt going thru this and worst of all - the helplessness of it all (bar stepping out of the car into oncoming traffic). God bless for a speedy recovery and resolution :) I should have said in the first post - eventhough it was rear ender with a DUI arrest, the party at fault's insurer refused to accept fault until the police report came in and the LAPD division is not the quickest of the lot either. I am amazed in your case hybridbear where the party hitting you or their insurer did not insinuate it was your fault somehow and other BS. Over here, they simply LIE.
  2. As someone who got rear ended by a DUI arrested driver a year ago, this article caught my eye... https://autos.yahoo.com/news/5-reasons-the-other-driver-s-insurer-won-t-pay-212919882.html Be safe out there, LOTS of morons out there...
  3. Thanks RockwallRick, there is another thread. I :love_shower: pics and I use to take a ton of pics with my Canon S compact camera all the time (great little wee camera). Its still takes better shots than my S4 camera. I've not been to Switzerland yet but I have ridden Austria and Italy and Italy<->France and Bulgaria. I luv Europe, the beer and food is sensational and it helps to have a gf (an ex) while I was there. Great union for sure.
  4. Eve, no difference at higher elevation. CMax performs like any other gas car. Now if its cold, don' expect your EV to do that much either but since its summer - you're good as gold. I've been to SLC and since I board, I did not hit Alta but did the local mtns. My preference still remains Aspen and Steamboat, a close second on my fave list. However, my Mammoth is just brilliant for the snow coverage and quality snow abliet theres nothing like the Utah Champagne.
  5. Updated, enjoy vmmvmmm's ole seat ;)
  6. IMO, some of us here are jus as much to blame for the negativity & poor rep of the CMax as Consumer Reports - all while driving perfectly fine CMaxs. While I do not believe in p*ssing in ones house to prove a point the house is not perfect, I jus rather keep driving and doing all I can to give positive input & comments even when I was selected for many survey reports back in 2013. I hope Ford listened and only time will tell. I have always said, I intend to keep my Maxine for sometime. Why not? I drive to work & play and get 63+ MPG and > 800 miles per tank. I drive to Mammoth and I score 42 to 47 MPG driving freeway. There is nothing wrong with my CMax and she was rear ended with frame damage back in October 13. Infact, my MPG improved after that...go figure. Having said that, I will always be excited by what Ford produces - if they can come up with something better, I am all for it. More MPGs with real car handling characteristic - brilliant. While we enjoy a lull in gas prices, its inevitable that prices will go up with wars and with politic ostriches with their a$$ up and head buried in their nirvana world of sand "Come f* me" - you betcha the middle east loons will come to collect that call. As such, I figure with my current MPG, I can still drive to work and back very comfortably financially even if the prices double. Actually, I probably see my MPG improve more as the giant gas pigs are off the road and the road is clear and light/no traffic...MPG booyah! ps while the Escape are abundant, I am seeing a lot more CMaxs around here in LA. Jus my 1c
  7. I don't know how FE you can make an SUV like the Escape. Higher wheel clearances, roof rack, AWD are oxymoronic terms in a FE world...
  8. ...theres already a few lady CMaxers in that Club so she'll be in fine company :)
  9. 2018 is still someways away, who knows what state of the world would be..so I am not concerned. Anyway, that might suit me nicely to finally replace Maxine if we are all still alive & kicking. She'll still be clocking way over the original EPA 47 MPG anyway ;) ps who knows by that time, Ford should have a :banghead: moronConsumer Report :airquote: professional driver proof > 38 MPG hybrid that can drive around their piddly track :stirpot:
  10. ...jus buy the Prii, then you have no REGRETS like I am having now after my last tank. Nick knows exactly what I am talking about. iSuxor ;)ā€‹ ps I closed the other thread.
  11. Closing, carry any discussions onward here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4196-best-rebates-seen/
  12. For me, Volt - interior was a big issue. Plus it did not even come close to the driveability, VISIBILITY, seating and that 8" MFT navigation screen.
  13. :runaway: ...damn, I did not get the memo on this. And here I was sweating over all the work with P&G when I should have known the car did it all....what sweaty a fool I have been when I could have kicked back  :sing_rain:
  14. Take it to the dealer Brother Mike...they should sort it out. Mine plays up once in a blue moon as well but usually rights itself the next day. We all wish the OS can be better...
  15. Hell, I carried one in my 98 Camry as well with 150,000 miles. It puked after that... :swear:
  16. CMax would be the fastest, most responsive hybrid as compared to a Prii, not sure if that helps - great for merging into traffic and passing them. Throw in some gas pods as well help.
  17. dd, his car is getting old with the miles. they both have cars with lots of miles on it and his job requires him to travel on the freeway and mountains and I am talking steep long grades here. Suxs to drive east but very nice going west. He just feels that the more money he pays for a hybrid is too much above a comparable gas car. For the more freeway driving and the terrain, he needs power. He may err on the AWD since his family and our family ski together at Mammoth. I'll see. My wife felt the same as well which was why I posted this thread. Last time I did this research was before I bought my CMax in Nov 2012 and its only now (which a decent 30K and 50.4 Lifetime) I can see the rewards of owning a hybrid in the sense that I did not know what I would truly get in MPGs. Yeah, we were all adament this was a 47MPG car back then and thus far, its driver and terrain dependent...if that makes sense.
  18. I'll have to get him to check out this thread...great discussion guys. He can drive Maxine anytime...
  19. No incentive for the hybrid at the time I bought mine in 2012. The NRG yeah but they were out of my budget range at the time. I think I need to tell our friends to buy a diesel since they are better for the freeway (which is what he does anyway). Whats that Jetta ad that claims 795 miles a tank?!?!?
  20. So my wife brought up to me a story that one of our family friend who owns a Prii is no longer wanting a hybrid. He does a lot of freeway driving, at least 80 miles a day and up/down the 14 freeway. For those who live in LA, you know THAT freeway. Says, hes going to buy a gas car. So...that started a discussion on the :airquote: cheaper gas car vs the CMax. I found one site that seem pretty relevant: http://www.money-zine.com/calculators/auto-loan-calculators/hybrid-car-calculator/http://www.money-zine.com/calculators/auto-loan-calculators/hybrid-car-calculator/ Are there any others worth looking at? This may be a good topic for those seeking to buy a hybrid as well (CMax, Prii or otherwise). I pumped my values in and it worked out like $4,700 odd dollars after 5 years. Since the CMax is not avaiable in gas, I used a Titanium Escape since its close in features with the niceties of Maxine. Gas is around $3.95 here in San Fernando and 5 year ownership and my Lifetime MPG (which has not been reset on Gas tank #2 and reflects how I drive for work and play). Should be convincing...but then again, shes the wifey... So discuss away and lets see what would you save or not save going from a gas to hybrid?
  21. :hi5: Yep, AE and I had the same issue and got the same fix as well about the same time - GPS has been fine ever since..yah! As for me....34,499.2 miles (18,859EV and 1756.8 regen miles) on the odo, 96% brakescore (I sux) and 50.4MPG lifetime (I sux 2)..keep on :shift:
  22. TIP: Now, you know about the finger swipe over the :airquote: black rectangular area on the door handle on the driver & front passenger side to lock the car, right? You can hear the solenoid lock kick in after the swipe. ...and also if you run the finger on the back of any door handle, it will unlock it). Thats the way I lock and unlock the car, I almost never press the remote anymore and I :love_shower: this feature!
  23. LOL, I luv that Brother Jus reference - usually its Brother Mike & me that refer to each other that way. Do check out some of these photos here from my favorite places on earth: Jus-a-cmax to Mammoth mountain and back Pretty pics...for sure ;) Now, as for the clutter under your avatar, I don't think you can change anything there. Basically RobertLane (the owner) would need to change the profile at the board admin end, and I have no access to this.
