I use P&G all the time around town since I'm starting and stopping anyway. But it would never cross my mind to do that on the highway. All that speed fluctuation is really going to piss off the drivers behind you.

Wow - I don't understand how there could not be a VIN by now. Do they have any explanation for that?

I know if I'm getting into the car then shut the door, I can press the radio power button and it turns on. But it's probably sequence dependent. If you turn off the car then open and close the door, that's a different sequence of events, and then pressing radio power does nothing. To me, accessory mode is what you get when you push the start button once without using the brake - almost everything is on except for being ready to drive. When you press it again, almost everything shuts off except for the radio, which is in its "linger" mode for some amount of time. Oh well, what's in a name - whatever works for you.

I also noticed the back / hatch area collect a lot more road grime than I expected. If anybody has experienced this, then installed the mud flaps and seen it appreciably reduced, please let us know.

Man - I'm coming from a '96 that had yellowed headlight lenses. The stock low-beams on the C-Max are way brighter than the high-beams were on that. I can't imagine needing more brightness. But that's just me - not a useful reply to your question, sorry.

Wow - just spent 3 hours at the dealer to just get a 3rd IA key programmed - and after all that, they gave up. Yesterday when I dropped in, they tried the in-car procedures, and said it wouldn't go into program mode (could have told them that), so it would have to be hooked up. Today I brought it in at 8AM. First they tried with the key I brought in, and after an hour, said that wasn't working, so I said to go ahead and use a new one. Two hours later, they gave up, telling me they had tried two new fobs, and hadn't gotten anywhere. They'll have to call Ford about it on a weekday. They said this was the 1st one of these they've had to do. I said I figured it was like a Focus, and they said they hadn't had to do one of those yet either. So apparently whatever procedure is in their workshop manual doesn't work, or requires some software update they don't have. I guess I'll call them after new year's and see if they've found anything out. At least I didn't get charged for 3 hours bumbling around. There may even still be a chance that if they can find the right procedure, that my eBay key might work after all. :-(

I agree the C-Max Hybrid and Energi forums should be combined. The Focus Electric also has a lot in common with the C-Max Energi. Strangely, the Focus Electric link redirects to a Fusion Energi forum, which I guess is European. Then there's info generic to all models like the top-level BlueOvalForums, and Sync, which are also separate forums.Hardly anybody is posting in the Sync forum, preferring to post in the Infotainment section of their car-specific forum, but making the posts harder to find. I'd really rather see one umbrella forum with sub-forums. The whole thing should be searchable, and use the same account registration throughout.

Wow - that's exactly what I've been doing most of today. I had ordered an extra key off eBay, thinking I could program it myself, but none of the procedures work. I've got a call into the dealership, but they said it's so new, they don't know and will go check and call me back. Yeesh. ...Just heard back from the dealer - they said yep, it has to be done there, and would cost $75. The key I bought is the other style - still all one unit but the key sticks out. It's supposedly compatible with all 2013 Fords. With my luck, I'll get charged the $75 only to find that the key isn't compatible. :-(

When I go to the services section, instead of seeing things like Travel Link, I just get an ad for the services, and it says To activate, go to www.syncmyride.com. But I'm all set up on syncmyride, which says my services subscription is Active. Just about stumped on this one.

I've tried this several times and it always tells me that I should say a command such as ... etc. Do you really just say "Weather Map"? Do you have to be in Services first? Do you have to have navigation for this to work (I have MFT but not nav.)

I went with one of these http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/9912232/ which was $29 after a $10 rebate. Unfortunately it's too big to fit in that recess under the back deck, but it can be made to fit in the cargo net. But from what I'm reading here though, it may be that one of the smaller ones you plug into the cigarette lighter jack / power port could be enough.

Well darn... I was looking through the files in the 3.5.1 update, and found some Hybrid content - looks to me like all the models use this same update. So I decided to go for it... Got this display: :-(

I don't have Nav, so I hope it's not being held up for something I don't even need. I saw a new screen from a 3.5.1 that shows a picture of the car, with a diagram overlayed on it to show what's using power and why you're not in EV mode. I'll have to go back and see were that was and if they said what build it was from. Ah - that was on a Fusion Hybrid, so there must be a Hybrid version out there.

Mine was built 2 weeks ago - still at 3.1.3. I can't tell from the TSB if the difference is in the software, or just in the installation procedure. For the Escape (I think), there was a description of how to keep the engine from shutting off during the upgrade, as that would apparently disrupt things. If you have to keep the engine running in park in a C-Max for 30 minutes, that might be difficult. But there must be a reason the C-Max didn't even get 3.2.2., and in the car it mentions BEV software, so it must be different. If it was a PC or a phone, I might go for it, but I don't think I'll risk "bricking" my new car. I have seen many places that if you do have Nav, it won't work with 3.5.1 until you get a new SD card from Ford.

I did X-Plan, plus the 1000 cash-back rebate, and the 750 Ranger loyalty rebate. Ahead of time I arranged the best bank loan I could find and printed out the acceptance letter. Handed that to them and they matched it. Ahead of time, I found a dealership on the net offering an extended warranty for about a third of the starting price and printed that out. Handed that to them and they matched it. (I normally don't do extended warranties, but in this case it seemed worth it.) Left there feeling like I made out like a bandit. But it annoys me that any of this and other such haggling is necessary in the first place.

It looks to me like the v3.5.1 release that's currently out there is specifically not for Hybrid models, and for anyone with navigation, requires a new SD card. I don't have Nav - I was considering installing it till I saw the compatibility list. After reading all of these, I just went out and bought a rechargeable jump-starter. Maybe that'll get Murphy's law to work in my favor and prevent the problem from happening. (I know, Murphy's law doesn't work that way.)

I'd include the Sync forum in that as well. Also, why not allow one account to work across all these related forums, instead of having to register multiple times. And FordOwner.com and SyncMyRide.com while we're at it. Also, it seems like at least half the time I post something, it sits there saying Saving... and never completes, even though the entry has actually been posted.

I was also thinking of finding a small stick-on LED light to put in there.

I spotted a new Blue Candy SEL in my Plano, TX driveway - does that count?

Our salesman said they had some allocation in the pipeline that they could shuffle. We ordered on 11/10, got a VIN on 11/17, had a build-date of 12/10, and delivery on 12/22. So exactly 6 weeks start to finish. Felt like much longer though.

It's the candy blue metallic - I attached a picture, but it doesn't do justice to the color.
