Pretty sure not, at least in the 2014. Mine is parked in the open at work and we have been having sunny days with 95+ days all week and 80+ before that. No indication that the a/c has been on.

Ford C-max least reliable car in America (Says CR)
shinytop replied to Seth7721's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I drove two different small SUV's the last 6 years. At the end of May I bought a new C-Max SEL. And I would absolutely buy another. The car has good pickup with the ability to drive well and still good get mileage. I am down to a 1/4 tank on my first city tank and am within range of getting a 600 mile tank. But the temps are now in the high 90's so I may break down and run the AC and save the 600 mile tank for the fall. -
I drove smaller cars for years but switched to SUV's as I developed back and knee problems making entry and exit from small cars uncomfortable. Was very happy to find a car that was smaller but exit and entry is like an SUV's. And now enjoying the challenges in getting better mileage.

I have long puzzled over the SUV and crossover labels. In my mind a true SUV is built on a truck chassis and a crossover has the same type body but built on an automobile chassis. Have to admit have not seen that distinction published but is the only logical conclusion I can reach.

I did. I got an SEL, they gave me an internet quote of 27000 before I ever stepped foot on the showroom floor. They had already included most of the rebates. I got an additional 750 for being a vet but had to get my wife to send me a pic of my DD 214. Mine was an SEL with 302A package.

Hybrid. I have owned a 14 for almost a month and no battery issues. And it has not been reported by 14's that I have seen.

My choice is the Gray. If you don't get it now it may not be available!

Or have leaves covering the sexy picture and leaves disappear as you drive efficiently.

I have been downloading manuals for a while on my computer. I created a folder on my desktop called Manuals and I have copies of many manuals there. But this is a great suggestion, have not been using my phone for that. Thanks.

The price goes up after 12000 miles. You can buy an ESP even if you are a leaser.

I am not sure you can conclude the imminent demise of the C-Max from this. The Fusion hybrid is a model of the Fusion which is Ford's entry in a whole different class of cars as well as being a hybrid. So changes from the base model carry over to the hybrid. The C-Max stands alone. Not saying you are wrong but pointing out that the Fusion changes are for a much larger market.

What made you choose the dealership you did?
shinytop replied to CarpeNivem's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I searched the internet for a Sterling Gray with 302A package. The nearest two were both about 250 miles away so I drove to the city I knew best. They gave me an internet price before I went that was in the range I thought reasonable. The day I went there they gave me the price for my trade in I expected. -
I live in Florida so thought going without AC would be out of the question until fall. But recently have been trying it and with windows open I find it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Most of my daily driving is at less than 50 so I am able to optimize my battery to run on the longer stretches without lights. My average on my daily commute has gone from 46 to 50+ since I turned off the AC. I may be joining this august club so will be posting in the next couple weeks, hopefully. I am on my second tank and trying hard to join the club. About half way through the tank and combining miles on this tank and range is just above 600 miles. So how accurate are those estimates? I hate the smell of gasoline in my car so I hesitate to carry a can of gas but would feel pretty stupid running out of gas in the effort to join this group of achievers.

From the 2014 Manual: Smart Unlocks For Intelligent Access Keys (If Equipped)This feature helps to prevent you fromunintentionally locking your intelligentaccess key inside your vehicle’s passengercompartment or rear cargo area. When you lock your vehicle using thepower door lock control (with the dooropen, vehicle in park and ignition off), yourvehicle will search for an intelligent accesskey in the passenger compartment afteryou close the door. If your vehicle finds akey, all of the doors will immediatelyunlock. In order to override the smart unlockfeature and intentionally lock theintelligent access key inside your vehicle, you can lock your vehicle after all doorsare closed by pressing the lock button onanother intelligent access key or touchingthe locking area on the handle with anotherintelligent access key in your hand. When you open one of the front doors andlock your vehicle using the power door lockcontrol, all doors will lock then unlock ifthe ignition is on.

I am interested in knowing that, too. I am paranoid about it so when I get in the car I make sure keys are in pocket so I don't lay them down. When I get out I feel to make sure they are still in pocket before locking. I guess I can get spare key made and put in my wallet. Will do that when I get first oil change in several months.

Apparently my state, Florida, has a law that does not permit online extended service contracts. Both sites I tried, the Mn one and FloodFord, stopped me with no can do messages when I selected my state. Auto industry has a good lobby in Tallahassee. Too bad they don't protect the consumer.

If that 2015 color chart is accurate I am very glad I got the Sterling Gray while available.

Name one like and dislike with your C-Max?
shinytop replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
Forgot one other item that surprised me and feels like a backward step. The Sync screen is pressure sensitive rather than touch (haptic?) sensitive. Might be so that glove wearers can use it but seems quite 2003. Every Touch sensitive device I have owned since 2004 is touch which makes it much more precise and much more sensitive. -

AudenHaoggart: Get a free app in the playstore called Sync Destinations. Once you have registered it with the, I think VIN, you have a menu of 9 options. One of those options is Route Me To, then you can choose from my phone contacts, then you select the contact and it sends to your car the next time it is turned on. I forget the exact sequence from the Nav on the C-Max but it allowed me to add those to my favorite destinations in Nav. You can also choose to type an address and send it. Not that you need to, I also like Google Nav but am still giving the big screen nav a chance. -
What color do you perfer?
shinytop replied to mightydog's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
My test drive was in a sterling gray. After I saw that in bright sunlight I did not consider another color. I ended up driving 240 miles to a dealer that had the color and package I wanted. Admittedly it does not look quite as good in cloudy weather but I know what it really looks like. The metallic sparkles make it almost glow. Not as keen on the light stone interior. It is a light tan and I would rather have had a light or medium gray. Black did not have any allure. -
It depends. You have an option to turn off the importer. If you have done that it will not. But you can enter the menu and have it update. I turned mine off after reading that updating every time you turn the car on slows down the Sync performance.

I normally keep a small box of Kleenex in my console. The square one, not the cellophane one. Found it fits perfectly on the ledge where you fit the shelf. And the tissues come out from under the top bin the the console.
