Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
Fits2at replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I won't turn down the $550 but I will say that even before the updates I had done yesterday, I was getting the EPA rating. My best tank of gas was 52.3 mpg and 611 miles!! -

Yeah it was a heavy wet snow and going through the slush piles you could hear it hit the underneath side of it but since it was slush it didn't hurt anything. I was really surprised at the traction I had.

I live in Indiana and I got my CMax at the beginning of December. Late December and early January we had a couple of big snows here where they actually closed my place of employment 2 different times. The following day, I went out and got around town without any issues. I used the same tires that came on it. I went through 2' slush piles where the plow trucks didn't plow very well. I can only remember slipping one time. Granted I am not an agressive driver, especially in snow and I was careful at accelerating from a complete stop.

My last 3 tanks of gas have all been over the average 47mpg with the highest being 52 mpg. I got 611 miles on that tank of gas. We have been having an unusually cool summer so I haven't had to run the A/C. I haven't even been to get the update yet because I wanted to see what (if any) problems came from the update. I love my Maxie!!

I have had mine in for a couple of weeks. They are awesome!! Great coverage. Only got the fronts. Rarely is anyone in the back seat.

I have been getting better average MPG the longer I have the car. Temps were in the 40's last week and I did a 24 mi trip and got 49mpg. Can't wait for the warmer weather to see even better mpg's.

You're off to a great start! Yep the mpg bug has hit most of us.

Well first....ice is ice so I don't know that even with added weight it would help much. However, a couple of weeks ago we got some snow that had the roads turning to black ice in a heartbeat. I had to go out to a store to buy a wedding gift for the next day (yep I'm a procrastinator). I was able to do 35 on heavy ice and didn't slip or fishtail once. Glad you made it home safely.

These were not from a local dealership. Cute little commercial with a sketch guy in it. I honestly don't remember what station we were on. We hardly ever watch local channels so my guess is that it was a satellite channel. I'm sure with the negative mpg reports out there that they are going to have to push a little harder and increase the marketing.

What a bummer!! I almost had the same thing happen to me last week. The rock did hit the windshield but luckily it sustained no damage. Here in Indiana, they won't repair a chip if it is on the drivers side. I had to replace the windshield in my last car due to a dump truck dropping huge rocks out of the back of it on the freeway. That car got hit by a grocery cart in the parking lot within the first week I owned it. I parked out at the end of the row and everything. Put a nice little dent just behind the headlight. Talk about being mad..

I use Trip 2 for the gas count and reset it with each tank. It has never lost the EV+. Did you lose your lifetime MPG average as well?

Maybe it is the Indiana market they are marketing to then. I have seen 2 different commercials within the last 2 weeks and have seen them several times. Before then, I really hadn't seen any on the C-Max but saw several on the Fusion.

Hmmm....I was looking for an excuse to go to my Indian restaurant today. Maybe I'll just do that. -
Got my WeatherTech front mats and put them in over the weekend. The grommets on the drivers side do fit very tight however, my husband said if you use a "body tool" they pop right off easily. So, if you don't want to get your dremmel out, the "body tool" is an option. Just don't ask me which body part it takes to make the tool. hahahah

Has anyone else noticed the increase in C-Max commercials in the last couple of weeks? Seems that they are really starting to advertise the car now. Wonder if that means they will ramp up production? The commercials advertise the 47 mpg pretty heavily.

I can only imagine the look on people's faces if they didn't know about the google program for driverless cars. To be sitting at a stop light and look over at the car next to you with no driver? hahahaa Put a sign on the side of the car that says April Fools!

Funny because on the Prius chat forum SEVERAL people did this!! -
One of these days we will be able to program a destination into the Nav system and the car will drive us there. I swear somewhere this is most likely in the works! I mean those of you in my age group (early 40's) will remember what a big deal the coming of the year 2000 was. We were told that after that we would have vacuum cleaners that would run themselves at the push of a button. How far fetched that seemed at the time but look at the options we have for self running vacuum cleaners now! Self operating cars won't be far behind!!!

haaha Well there is really only 1 or 2 wines that I really like. There are a few Aldi's products I won't buy. Like the Mayonnaise because it tastes very oily. But in general, I really like shopping at Aldi.

We have Sam's and Costco here. I don't ever go to Costco as it is on the far north side of the city and just driving to it takes 45 min. Not that much of a difference for Sam's. Agreed that not all is cheaper at Sam's club. Alot of fruit is waaaay cheaper and most all of the meat is cheaper. Frozen foods you really have to price and the same with fresh veggies. For grocery shopping we have Aldi's and I LOVE almost everything there. I have only a few things that I won't buy there. I can pay $50 and walk out with a cart FULL FULL of groceries. The labels are just not name brand so they can sell it cheaper.

I'm not one that is picky. I really love food of all kinds and it seems like for every type of food (i.e. mexican, indian, etc.) I have my favorite dish and never seem to stray from it. I kind of get in a rut. One of the reasons that I like a buffet...you can try a little of everything. I guess I've never had any TexMex really good food. What is your favorite Tex Mex dish?
