  1. I have been able to answer the phone on almost all occasions. My problem is the car's delay in switching to the call. Incoming calls take place in this sequence: 1) I hear the actual phone ring (or vibrate). 2) Any music playing via the entertainment system is muted. 3) The small display to the right of the speedometer changes to a linear progress scale as if I am playing a song on my iPod. 4) I hear the ringing through the car's speakers. 5) The large MFT screen changes to shows the person calling and option to "Answer" or "Ignore". 6) The small display to the right of the speedometer shows the person calling. By now the phone has already rung a couple of times. 7) Since it is probably the most convenient one, I press the green phone paddle on the steering wheel. 8) Nothing happens for a couple of seconds and the ringing is still heard through the car speakers. At this point, any one of the following has happened to me: A) The ringing stops, I say "hello", and I am connected to the caller. B) The ringing stops, I say "hello", there is no response from the caller, thinking that I answered too fast I repeat "hello", and then I am connected to the caller. C) The ringing continues, I press the green phone paddle again, the ringing continues, I now frantically begin pressing other buttons such as the right "OK" button on the steering wheel or the "Answer" button on the MFT screen. The button on the MFT screen seems to be more reliable in answering the call. Obviously A) is the intended result but it is by no means the only one. Because of the delays in MFT with all of these steps I feel like I have to press a button and wait to see if the phone is answered. If I start to press too many buttons the results become unpredictable. The problem with waiting for MFT to catch up to me is that the incoming call will be forced into voicemail. It sounds like the OP is having result C) on a consistent basis (except maybe the frantic part).
  2. I think that higher highway speeds tend to somewhat negate the disadvantage of the engine running due to the cold. At those speeds the engine has to run anyway to provide more power and will also provide cabin heat. I have also found that temperatures around 50 provide the border between really good and really bad mileage. Those temps will also make running without climate control (only seat warmers) tolerable.
  3. Maybe you could ask the moderators to provide you with your own thread for your grill cover advertisements. That way you wouldn't have to spam every other discussion with the same comments. Just a suggestion.
  4. How long are your trips? Is your heater on? My short commutes in the same weather are getting me 25-30MPG.
  5. These mileage lawsuits demonstrate the dangerous combination of ignorant consumers and ambulance chasing attorneys. We do have to remember that most of us are hybrid enthusiasts. As such we try to educate ourselves about our cars and we realize that the technology is a departure from the previous 100 year history of the automobile. Making the general public aware that hybrids require modified driving habits is a huge undertaking that will take time. Patience will be required.
  6. They are listed in my signature. Basically the 302A option package has everything you can get with the car except the self-parking (that's the 303A package). While the panoramic sunroof sits slightly behind and above the driver and I can't really see it, it lets in a lot of light and makes the car seem very open. The cargo space is also quite good and my previous vehicle was an SUV.
  7. I know I'm late to the party and the OP has already made his decision but I have to chime in. If I had to do it over again, I would absolutely buy another C-Max. Not only that but I have been very happy with the options I originally chose and would also choose the same ones. Apart from the great fuel mileage there are other benefits. Something that really didn't come across during a short test drive is how comfortable, smooth, quiet, and stable the C-Max is. In other small cars I feel like I am driving a tin can. This is one of those things that you can't describe very well with stats or in a TV commercial. Now, after 7 months and 8000 miles, I have no regrets.
  8. Great photo. I was confused for a second because your picture was an Energi yet your profile just denotes a basic SEL. Then I remembered you have both.
  9. MFT sometimes acts strangely during the first few minutes of starting the car. Mostly this has been delayed functionality of the entertainment and phone. I have gotten a call on my cell phone right after starting the car. I felt my phone vibrate, MFT interrupted my music, the right hand instrument display changed to a progress bar and everything told me that I was receiving a call. The problem was that none of the displays showed a call coming in. I even tried pushing the green phone button on the steering wheel to no effect. I attribute all this to loading information and making the various connections necessary such as bluetooth and satellite. Once these have been made the MFT functions normally.
  10. I have noticed that when the weather turned cold (down into single digits), unlocking the doors still worked while wearing cloth gloves. When the snow started is when I had more problems unlocking the doors. The snow would cover the inside of the door handle and even melted snow (AKA water) would make sensing my gloved hand hit or miss. Taking off the glove and wiping the moisture from the inside of the handle will then have the automatic unlock working properly.
  11. Did you actually see these on the lot? The reason I ask is that before I bought mine I did some online checks of C-Max availability using the Ford web site. From the information I received, that shows orders as well as deliveries without differentiation. So while you may think a dealer has the car, they may not have taken delivery yet.
  12. The exit and overpass graphics on the right side of the screen do look realistic. I don't ever recall seeing buildings in the main map screen though. Maybe that is only in large cities.
  13. That voltage seems a bit low. It should be more like 12.4v or more.
  14. You should put that quote on a bumper sticker or t-shirt.
  15. Can you provide more detail on the 3D graphics? Do you mean the Navigation screen shows buildings?

    Cmax Problem

Returning the C-Max because it is too complicated? I bought one because I like the technology the car has. To each his own I guess. In my previous car I would hit the power door lock before I stepped out. Now with the C-Max I get out, close the door, and touch the black finger sensor on the door handle. I hear the locking click and I know the doors are locked. I rarely use any other method.
  17. Is this the AM/FM radio or the Sirius Satellite Radio? Is there any playback device plugged into the USB ports?
  18. Thanks, that worked great. Just a note that I had to follow that procedure for each window. That is, the set of initialization steps had to be done for the driver's window and then repeated for the passenger window.
  19. This week I brought my C-Max to the dealer for a number of service actions like the automated rear hatch sensitivity and the fuel mileage recalibration. Afterwards I noticed that the One-Touch Up feature for the windows does not work any more. The strange thing is that this works on both rear windows but not on the front windows. The windows will open with one touch but lifting the switch upward and releasing it will only close the windows automatically on the rear windows. Anyone have a solution or can tell me what I am missing?
  20. Why are you so concerned about Ford dropping the C-Max (which they won't)? It won't affect the car you already own. Even if Ford didn't build another one we all have a car that we are quite happy with.
  21. The great thing about the C-Max is I don't fill up very often. About every 3 or 4 weeks. That makes me less aware of gas prices and their fluctuations. I believe gas is $3.46/gal. around here.
  22. I don't believe that is a navigation system error. I believe you were just displaying one of the three view choices in the navigation system. The three options are 1) Full screen map, 2) Half map / half route listing, 3) Half map / half exit information. One of the buttons on the touch screen cycles through the three options. If you were not on a highway/interstate, there was no exit information to display in that half of the screen. When traveling on the interstate that half of the screen shows the different lanes and what lane to be in when approaching an exit.
  23. I'm not seeing how this was the fault of the car or the manufacturer. The driver got in the car, started it, put it in reverse, and then got out of the car while it was still in reverse.
  24. I put my phone (a Galaxy S4) in the center console compartment. It is connected to the 12v port in there and is out of the way. With the Bluetooth connection I can answer or make calls. No need for suction cups or having the phone out in the open.
