For the last two or three days I've been unable to sign in. Anyone know what's up?

With what you know, would you buy your C Max today (again)
Tom replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
As a person of few words: YES -
I saw two last weekend in DC/MD.

So do we (Ford) have a fix? This news from Ohio looks like a possibility to me.

Most C-Max reviews I've read list "grabby brakes" as a negative aspect to the car. When I first got mine, I also noted that the brakes were grabby. However, after driving for a number of miles (say 200) the grabby condition has stopped -- or I have gotten so use to it that I don't notice it anymore. Thought I would share this to see what others have experienced?

Does anyone know if Canadian C-Max owners are experiencing this battery problem to the same degree as those in the US? I ask because It is my understanding that Canadian C-Maxes have daytime running lights--which is a further draw on electricity. Canadian experience may be helpful to those trying to diagnose this problem.

Thanks!

I, like many others, have been following this issue closely. A number of posts seem to state that the HV battery starts the C-Max -- not the 12 volt one. If this is the case, why are people not able to drive their cars and recharge the dead 12 volt battery? I have very little knowledge of electrical matters so bare with me. Thanks.

I was concerned about LI battery replacement cost and, if it was too high, it would eat up my fuel savings. Called the salesman and ask. He said no one ever asked him about that before but he got back to me with a current replacement cost of $1,000. He also said that, given the battery's expected life, who knows what the situation will be? I expect that when we replace our batteries, the technology will have advanced and prices will have dropped.

My question is: Is there a DRL kit that an American Ford dealer can get and install in my C-Max or do I have to have it done not time I'm in Canada? Power usage a good question. Must apply to Canada as well.
-
Canadian C-Maxes have DRL. Are they added by the dealer or the Ford factory?
-
No rattles at 1,000 miles -- I'm happy to report. Take your rattles back to your dealer!
-
I should add that this seems to happen when I have the system on automatic.

It's my impression that the heater fan waits until the ICE has started to warm, then turns on blowing warm air.
-
The SE has vents on the back of the console that contains the gear shift, parking brake, etc. These vents can be directed up or down.

I have an SE -- as plain vanilla as one can get -- so no touch screen as far as I know. My car still is smarter then I am. But, thanks for the tip. Tom

I have just over a 1,000 miles and am starting my third gasoline tank full. Day trips involving interstate highway travel limited with mid 30s mpg range. Local trips that are mostly EV, where ICE is used only to warm and climb hills are another story. Today, in the 30s temperature wise, I got mid 40s for two and 53 MPG for one. Tom

There is also the issue of Books on Tape during log trips as a reason to have a working CD player. BoT come with their own cases of course. Perhaps a small, plastic CD case containing several holder pages for your personal collection would fit into the "pit" between the front seats? Tom

Just tried your suggestion and it worked. Thanks again! Funny that the owner's manual doesn't speak to this? Also, I discovered that you can run the dash vents and the floor vent along with the rear seat operation.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Tom

Today, I had my first chance to ride in the back seat area of our new C-Max. It is a cold day and I wanted to make sure the rear seat area's console vents were open and delivering warm air. No air! Rotated the dial that I assume opens and closes the vents -- nothing. Asked my wife, who was driving, to turn up the fan speed -- nothing. Pushed the floor control button on the dash board that directs air to our feet -- nothing. What am I doing wrong? Tom

When we got our C-Max, we didn't know how to read the gas gauge. It was white on the instrument panel and we were concerned that it was reading empty. Went to a gas station for a fill up -- it took $.75 cents worth.

There is a small circular opening on the passenger side, next to the gear shift that I put quarters in for parking meters. Cover them up with a small, nondescript plastic bottle to prevent pilferage.

I just don't understand Trip 1, Trip 2? What's it all about? Help!

My wife and I are in our early 70s. We bought a C-Max SE in part because we wanted a car that will accommodate us as we age further. We believe the C-Max does this. It is easy to get into and out of, the front seats are very comfortable, and we enjoy driving it. We like the "station wagon" design for ease of loading/unloading. Did not feel comfortable with no real spare tire so bought a tire mounted on a wheel, jack, and lug wrench.
