  1. I have to agree as a former Aurora owner -- before I bought my C-Max. I don't know what's really going on at Ford but my guess is that C-Max is taking a sales beating because CR has it down as the most unreliable car. Many of us have had "recalls" for what boils down to on-board computer modifications and CR is using these recalls in its analysis. If we had bought new-generation computers. they would probably have a lot of modifications that would have been sent to us on-line. No need to take a computer into the store for this -- unlike an automobile. Given my GM experience, I hope Ford continues to support our C-Maxes for many years after they decide not to build anymore -- if that becomes the case. .
  2. Would it be a good idea to collect all the battery discussions under one umbrella? I never know where to post or if I've viewed all the information available.
  3. I have experienced three dead battery events since getting my C-Max in December 2012. No trouble for the last several months. Went on holiday for two weeks leaving my C-Max outside in my car park. When I got back, it started right up -- I'm most happy to report!
  4. I saw this issue discussed on this forum as well. Went out to check my car after reading it and, sure enough, the drain holes were covered by a clear tape -- which I removed. I suspect that the people who do the new car prep at the dealerships are just not aware of these drain holes being covered.
  5. Your approach makes sense for someone who has ongoing dead battery problems. What about the C-Max owner who has had two or three events so far? Tom
  6. I looked at the Harbor Freight site and they offer a scissor jack that they say is Minimum height (in.) 3-3/8 in. Product Height 3-3/4 in. for less than $20. Any thoughts on this as a solution?
  7. Got my car back today! It needed a new Restrant Control Module (RCM) and a new Sensor Asembly. All seem to be right so far.
  8. Please provide more information about your floor jack. Make, model , place of purchase, etc. Thanks, Tom
  9. Everytime I ask for a loaner from my dealer, I am told that all loaners are already out. Currently, my car is in for service and I have a rental that is paid for by my Ford extended warranty.
  10. Here's the latest in my current saga: Took the car into my Ford dealer Monday (yesterday). Just talked to my service writer today. A computer problem he said. Can fix it so far. They are talking with Ford. Have a rental car. Cost paid by my extended service coverage. Anyone have a similar experience?
  11. Well, this is a hell of a note! What jack did you buy?
  12. I washed my car yesterday including wiping the dust off the dash board area. Today, when I started the car, I got the passenger side airbag off sign lit and the traction control signs lit. Checked the owners’ manual to see how to turn these signs off. It’s not helpful. Any assistance will be appreciated Thanks, Tom
  13. Well, you ask a question that I cannot truthfully answer. I just went out and measured the jack. It's 5.5 inches at the highest point collapsed. I also measured the space from the base of the plastic trim that runs along the door bottoms to the ground and it looks to be about 8 inches. So with a flat tire -- I don't know. I just assumed it would fit. I'm glad you asked and I will do more tomorrow to see what the story is. The one time I did have a flat tire I got AAA to put my spare on and I was not able to see what jack they used.
  14. Dave, I bought a scissor style jack and a lug wrench from the same Ford dealer for an Escape. Part numbers CP9Z*17032*A and CV6Z*17088*B. Tom
  15. I bought my spare wheel and tire from the dealer where I bought my car. It also came with Ford's tire air pressure measuring devise. As to the space it takes up in the hatch area, I place my spare upside down so that I can use the concaved side to hold things such as grocery bags, etc. Seems to be worth living with for the security of having a real spare -- which I have had occasion to use.
  16. Ashley, I interpreted PM to mean personal message. I left a "PM" for you on the home page of this site by clicking the message symbol on the top right side of the home page. Perhaps you ment something else? Sorry we didn't connect. Tom
  17. Took my C-Max to the local Ford dealer today to have the recall 14S04 done (reprogram the rcm as per recall). Anyone know what the rcm is? My service writer was gone when I picked up my car. I also raised the transmission issue when I dropped off the car. They were unable to replicate the condition and found nothing in the network tests they ran. They did ids testing (?) as well as contacting oasis. Ashley, they never heard from you -- so the service writer said?
  18. I'm getting mid to high 40s MPG in warmer weather. Have 8,000+ miles on my car. I am very happy!
  19. No, I checked on that as well. But thanks.
  20. Transmission locked -- car won't move. This has happened to my wife three seperate times. Today, she was in a parking garage ready to back out, parking brake off, and the car would not move. She turned the ICE off, restarted and it was okay. Any ideas?
  21. We bought our C-Max inpart for the same reason. Welcome abord!
