  1. Definately have to get used to the Traction Control, it pretty much kills traction and acceleration when it kicks on. Yes, it feels like you lost all power. here's our street the other morning. 4"-5" or so. Hiway wasn't much better, a lot of snow and slush. We got more throughout the day (8" total) It did really well, just as long I didn't try to accelerate too fast. the Michelan xIce Tires seem to have good traction.

snow traction with the Xice tires.
  3. will do when it get cold enough. suppose to be 30-40's for the next week now.
  4. gotcha. thanks. will do. MPG's are all over the place. 30-40 depending. sometimes I let it warm up a bit in the morning, we have been getting down to single digits and it sits outside too.
  5. with grill covers (middle and bottom only), typically I see 185-200 around 20-30 deg. outside. Below 20 deg. it stays at 185-190 or below at times. I did see 210-225 going up a long hill at around 30-35 degrees outside.

Nice idea for fastening it. I velcroed mine on along the ribs. and zip tied the lower one.
  7. I noticed the charge voltage in the car when running the values on the ScanGauge is 14.6 - 14.8 volts. so you're prolly good.
  8. my 2013 SEL has the Trip summary with Gallons used. it also shows on the trip 1 and trip 2 odometer too.
  9. It's not just stuck under the seat or anything? why would someone remove it completely? other than a salvage yard or something to find a replacement. You can probably order a new one thru Ford or Ford Parts online. maybe ebay.
  10. I believe as long as the rims are 5 x 108mm bolt spacing, they should fit. the Ford Focus, Fusion, some older Taurus, and probably others. Tire Rack has the basic black steel wheels also.
  11. you can probalby get the tire foam canister for the kit from the dealer if you wanted. A can of Fix-a-Flat will probably cost you significantly less.
  12. @retiredtraveler We assume you have had all the latest updates done to the car? no outstanding recalls or anything? you didn't leave anything plugged in the accessory ports or anything?
  13. Hopefully whatever update the dealer did to MFT, worked. The GPS was correct coming home. so far so good. :)
  14. under passenger seat, Velcro into a recess in the floor. From Ford, they are not cheap. just get a good air compressor and a can of fix-a-flat. here's what it looks like on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-Motorcraft-Temporary-Mobility-Canister-Air-Compressor-Kit-P-N-8S4A-9F891-AA-/221917262697?hash=item33ab4cb369:g:vQcAAOSw~OdVa6tn&vxp=mtr
  15. Mine also said it was up to date also at 3.6.2, but if you go into the "Sync and How To's" Section, and click on the "Check for software updates", mine said Ver. 3.8 was available for download. it didn't notify me or anything. so I d/l it and installed it.
  16. Gonna try some of the octane booster on our trip to Chatenooga, TN in a couple weeks. That will be a good long drive test. with snow tires and center grill cover. 46psi tires. When we came back from Nashville, it avg. 46.9mpg. :)
  17. I think the file was in a sub-directory on the flash drive to upload to the Ford Site. When you browse for it. I had to search for it. it was Sync_VIN#####.XML or something.
  18. Got it! gonna give the dealer a call an see what they can do. still under warranty.
  19. That is strange on your install. Mine installed no problem.... BUT the update didnt' make any difference. This morning it started out good right on GPS target this morning, then after about 5-6 miles on the hiway, it lost it position by maybe 1/4 mile or a little less, the under/overpasses were not even with the car on the screen, showed me running on a parallel road at times, not the hiway.. :(
  20. First, do you have the Cruise Control on the menu system set to ECO mode. When you put it on Cruise, does the ECO light (green) come on also? Yes, if you accelerate too quickly on Battery only power, the electric motor doesn't have enough power to accelerate the car fast enough, so the engine will kick on. The Battery/ICE (engine) will switch automatically depending on the load on the engine and engine temperature. the electric motor will help when it's on level ground and if it needs more power going up a hill. Yes, the battery will run typically between approx 40-100% on the gauge (not actual battery state of charge). it normally runs between 30-70% all the time when running in hybrid mode. it will never discharge fully. It may go down a little more when you get near your home or work (in EV+ mode). Sometimes it will be fully charged if idling or going down hills or a lot of braking with no power needed. The Up and Down Arrows on top and below the battery icon tells you when it's using power or charging. Check your tire pressure, most of us run 40+ psi in the tires. that helps a little bit on mileage. There's some good posts on here for maximizing mileage.
  21. Just downloaded and updated Mine. The install went very smooth, about 30 mins. :) We'll see if it makes a difference on the GPS being off or not. Test run seemed like it was right on so far.

Summer Wheels 17" Sparco in White. Stock tires mounted on them. Winter Tires on the factory wheels.
  23. I did a lot of research on different wheels/tires (especially for winter tires) and others probably other people have too. Some sizes/combination are more expensive. by going +1 or +2 or -1 -2 in sizes, that can make a big difference in price. I went with 215/55/17 snow tires, which were $30/ea cheaper then the stock size. Just keep your overall diameter the same or as close to the same (within 1/4" or so). Tire Rack has a good sizing calculator online. I;ve see the stock tires (Michelin 225/50/17) around $165-$175/ea online I'm, putting my stock tires on new aftermarket rims for the summer and keep the snows on the factory tires. I found these rims closeout on TireRack for $119/ea.
  24. Like Frank Said, the studs are good for ice. a good all winter tread works well. I have the same Xice X3 (215/55R17 on the stock rims), will be my first winter with the car and these tires. we have had no snow yet to test them, they seem to handle on dry pavement quite well and are very quiet. I got mine thru TireRack also. Here's the tread that is very aggressive with lots of small grip grooves.
  25. I will check the MySync site and my dealer to see if there's an update to 3.8 or something else wrong with it. Yesteday and today, seemed to work fine.
