Yes! My Prius had a similar noise. The C and the Prius both use a scroll type compressor so it sounds different that what I'm used to. It's loud when first started and iits going full speed then it quiets down.

Full texting does not work with iOS devices due to Apple's MAP protocol not matching the industry standard. Apple needs to make changes on their end to make it work properly.

What is illogical about their explanation ? It just says the system uses various inputs, it doesn't describe how they use those various inputs to determine the shutter setting.

The phenomenon is called "packing" and is present in newer cars that are well-sealed. Incoming air "packs" into the car and has no way out, unless you open a second window. The owners manual mentions this, and suggests opening a second window.

Running a tank dry may not good for the fuel pump. Pumps are meant to have fluid running through them for cooling and lubrication.

Microsoft has nothing to do with anything other than the Entertainment/Phone (SYNC) functions of the car. There is a physical firewall between the SYNC system (Microsoft) and the normal engine/transmission computers which do not use Microsoft

That's good to hear a lot of that was probably due to the "pay off / early termination" of the trade in. Hopefully you can get a refund on the maintenance plan if you want to. You can at least get a better idea of how much you paid exactly for the maintenance plan so you get make a decision about whether to pursue a refund. Ford has a web site that provides a quote on the maintenance plan which would give an idea of what is normal for that plan (although the dealer can probably charge what they want). Is the maintenance plan through Ford? If so, you may be able to cancel the maintenance plan and get your money back. If it's not through Ford, you can still try to pursue getting your money back on that item. "All Ford Extended Service Plans are cancelable at any time during your Ford warranty coverage time period. How much is the MSRP on the window sticker for your car? One other question, did you trade the Fiesta in ? And was the Fiesta paid off, or was money still owed on it? If the Fiesta was worth less than what you owed on it, the dealer may have wrapped that difference into the deal on the new car. BTW, cute dog!

It doesn't matter what you or I think is considered "Highway" driving. The EPA is the one who sets that definition, not you, not me, not Ford. Ford can't represent anything other than what results from the EPA tests. Those EPA tests are conducted at a certain temperature, with certain fuel, at very specific speeds, shown below. This is what the EPA says is "Highway" driving. You said "I don't consider driving on a flat island at less than 62 mph or a flat valley floor or flat city traffic at less than 62 mph or slip streaming a semi-truck as a real testament of the 47, 47, 47 represented by Ford." Again, it doesn't matter that you don't think driving at 62mph or less is considered Highway driving, but take another look at the speeds in the EPA Highway test.

For all intents and purposes, the C-Max is a European car, it was brought over to the US market in hybrid form. Turning radius is limited by when the tires would impact something within the wheel well. Front wheel drive cars have their transmissions mounted up front which limits space for the wheels to turn, same with having a hybrid motor mounted up front. Larger wheel/tire combos have an impact too. On the Focus, the turning diameter is reduced when you get the 18" wheels over the 17" wheels. The C-Max also has a beefier front structure compared to the Prius V (as demonstrated in the "poor" safety rating the Prius V received). That beefier front structure on the C-Max is good for crash protection, but would also limit the space for the wheels to turn. Everything is a trade off.

Good point, Siri is done in an energy-sucking server farm somewhere. The iPhone is just a pass thru to the server farm where the actual voice recognition happens. You need a Wifi or 3G connection, something not always available in a car. Comparing voice recognition handled by a server to a mobile device like SYNC is an apples to oranges comparison.

For CR, that's a GREAT review. They rank the CMax near the top. Read the CR reviews of the Prius C and Honda Civic, CR totally trashes those two cars. As for the mpg, CR is being disingenuous if they don't tell the whole story, CR needs to explain that hybrids have a wide range of mpg results. CR knows this, their own testing has shown it. The widest discrepancy in their mpg City tests belongs to the Prius C, a 19mpg shortfall from EPA City. If CR didn't mention this and the factors that affect hybrid mileage, then shame on them for lacking in journalistic integrity.

You read incorrectly. Consumer Reports has not tested the Energi. Also, the Energi is not rated at 47/47/47. CR did their best to sensationalize the C-Max mpgs when in fact the largest discrepancy in mpgs that CR ever tested was for the Prius. CR had to change their tune after being confronted and has since admitted that mileage for hybrids in general varies greatly based on drivers, temperature, speed, etc. Here are examples of non Energi C-Max mpg performance
