  1. Yep, same here. Had same problem with the carpet of those flappy things that cover the gap when seat go flat came unstuck. One side one time, the other side after i had the first fixed. I am betting Ford doesn't know this is a problem because most of them were either fixed by owners, or, when fixed at the dealer, and was never reported to Ford. I'm with SDM, it really is a poor design. A smooth surface with what looks like rubber cement used to attached the piece of carpet. It was never meant to last. I am guessing most owners glue it back themselves or toss the pieces of carpet all together to avoid taking it back to the dealer.
  2. Here is an update of mine (since I have been doing so well of late): Total Miles: 43339.1 EV: 19506.7 ~45% Regen: 1831.3 (Don't have a number before the update, sorry) Brake Score: 97% MPG Gage: 47.0 MPG Pump: 44.9 Still about 29% City
  3. We all enjoy seeing the 600, 700, 800 and now 900 mile tanks. But I have done pretty well over the last 6 month and 10,000+ miles. Here are some stats for my CMax according to my aCar app: Recent 6 months: Avg MPG 50.42, miles driven 10,220 Recent 3 months: Avg MPG 52.48, miles driven 5,605 Last Month: Avg MPG 56.69, miles driven 1,333 Even including the (relatively) cold winter we had here in NC, I've done pretty good: YTD: Avg MPG 47.12, miles driven 16,721 Also, My CMax now reads lifetime Average of 47.0 MPG!! It is actually just under 45 MPG Lifetime calculated
  4. Yes I topped off, but not at the same place as the last time I filled up. The place with the ethanol free fuel was closed by the time I hit 800 miles. I agree, I probably had another 1/2 gallon left, but the fuel gauge was no long reading ANYTHING. And for those that have never gone that far, the red bars on the fuel gauge WILL register below the "E" line. Look closely on my photo of the gauge and you can see black below the "E" line. I was sweating it.
  5. :happy feet: I MADE IT!!! :happy feet: 802.1 Miles (542.0EV) on 12.96 Gallons for 61.8MPG Pump showed 13.257 Gallons for 60.5MPG I was milking it for all it was worth for the last 69+ miles: MTE showed 0 at 767.7 with 12.47 gallons used. I was really sweating the last 10 miles.
  6. My entry into the 800 miles club: 802.1 Miles (542.0EV) on 12.96 Gallons for 61.8 MPG You can read about my adventure here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4279-halfway-to-800/
  7. Thanks for the encouragement  Fuel Gauge turned red at 719.5 miles. Got just over 65 MPG on the way in this morning. MTE looks to put me at about 770 miles when it counts down to 0. Should be close to that after tonight's commute home. Thinking of plotting out a relatively flat course to run those last 30 miles before the commute to work tomorrow. Don't want to run out of gas on the way in  . We will see tonight.
  8. And it will be REAL noticable when the outside temps get lower (ICE needs additional time to get to operating temps).
  9. 700 mile update: MTE is about 70, but since the car says I have only used about 11.4 gallons I should have no trouble hitting 800  ... right? :headscratch: :future: BTW, the gas guage turned yellow at 671.6, then it turned back white, then turned yellow and stayed there at about 690.
  10. I do have a scangauge but an not using it at the moment. I have it in another vehicle.
  11. Not on purpose, but I didn't fill up at my regular spot. I wanted Ethanol Free fuel. The pump I used was slow, so i think I got a little extra in. I won't be worrying too much until the MTE goes to 0. I've driven 20 miles past that on my first 600 mile tank. I actually filled up with 13.9 Gallons that time. Should pass 700 on my way home today. I have some errands to run this afternoon too, so that will put a few extra city miles on.
  12. Thanks. With about 3.5 gallons left (according to the computer) and just under 200 miles to go, I should make it. But knowing what I know, the computer is about 6% optimistic in my fuel usage (6% under-reporting). Taking that into account, I am at about 10.5 gallons used. So my real world mileage is closer to 58 than 61. Miles to empty have been showing me exceeding 800, but after this weekend and this morning, it is showing me short by 20 miles. So it will be close. I should pass 800 on my way home Thursday. Weather looks favorable though Thursday afternoon with highs in the low 80's and lows in the upper 60's with little rain forecast after this morning. We will see when I hit 700 how close it will be.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement. Here is the 600 mile update: I have lost a little in MPG over the last 100 miles. Mostly due to weather. Raining again this morning. Had to run the defroster (i.e. the AC) several times. Only got 58.7 MPG on the way in. My Friday commute home wasn't good either, but that was due to me having a kidney stone and not really caring about my mileage on that particular drive (I didn't even note the MPG's). Good news is it was a small stone and has passed.
  14. Here is my (almost) 500 mile update:
  15. Never thought of that. It makes sense though. Thanks for the insight.
  16. I will post updates at the 100 mile marks (i.e. 500, 600, etc.). As a side note, didn't do too well coming home today. ONLY 57mpg  . It was a combination of me being tired and a pretty heavy thunderstorm. Had the lights, windshield wipers and HVAC fan running (no AC just the fan). Plus all the standing water on the roads didn't help.
  17. I had not thought of the battery being too hot. That is a possibility, I will try that out again when temps fall and see if that does have an affect. Thanks!
  18. Just a note, the ICE in my scenario has not run at all. So I used all EV from Start to 35MPH. So the ICE isn't just cold, it has not run yet. Just trying to clarify.
  19. Afternoon temps are between 85-95F. So I don't think it is temperature dependent. I know when it's cold (cold for NC not ND! ;) ) the EV threshold is lower. But this seems to be Speed dependant, although, I guess it could be trying to keep things cool rather than warm. But again with the small distance driven (<1/2 mile) I would think heat would not be an issue either.
  20. This isn't a problem as much as an operational find. Let me explain... As you might have read, I am in the process of attempting an 800 mile tank of fuel. So I have been attempting new ways of improving my MPG and I stumbled across something I don't think anyone had documented (if it has, then I apologize :worship: ) . When cold (i.e, engine it at or near ambient temperature), I cannot exceed 35 MPH strictly in EV mode. It doesn't matter how much charge is in the battery, when the speedometer hits 35MPH the ICE kicks in. It does this even when my foot is completely off the accelerator pedal. When I leave work in the afternoons, the terrain is slightly downhill for more than 1/2 a mile. Usually, when pulling out, I will give it enough throttle to kick the ICE on and allow the ICE to warm while descending this small hill. The other day I had an almost full battery when leaving, so I thought I would run out some juice before the ICE kicks in and charges. Halfway down the hill the ICE kicked in. I thought maybe I had pressed the accelerator pedal a little too much. So the next day, I tried it without touching the pedal. Sure enough, at 35MPH the ICE kicks in. I have repeated this 3 times, so I am pretty sure it is in the programming of the car. Anyone else see this? Or tried it? Or is my CMax more unique than I thought? :clapping:
  21. So far most of the miles has been my commute to and from work. Weather has been 60-70F for my morning commute and 85-95F for the afternoon. I have altered my usual route to work and take a rural route. This keeps my speeds between 45-55MPH, however it does add about 2 miles and 15 minutes to my usual 35 minute drive. I-40 is the most direct route: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/35.7393527,-81.2686938/Doosan+Portable+Power,+1293+Glenway+Dr,+Statesville,+NC+28625/@35.7542714,-81.2124329,11z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x8851593faf865d8d:0x9a8fbf3cbc8bf314!2m2!1d-80.863793!2d35.814395?hl=en The speed limit on I-40 is 65MPH. US-70 on the other hand had speed limits between 45-55MPH and much less traffic: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/35.7393527,-81.2686938/Doosan+Infracore,+1293+Glenway+Dr,+Statesville,+NC,+USA/@35.7367166,-81.0310726,12z/data=!4m34!4m33!1m25!3m4!1m2!1d-81.1873243!2d35.7025763!3s0x8851364048806f5f:0x5b96d5e8929e422a!3m4!1m2!1d-81.0666002!2d35.7182507!3s0x88514f2923e665e7:0x321f2a0694da0e57!3m4!1m2!1d-80.9966143!2d35.7575562!3s0x8851455753ff4467:0x907ad0c3604bcda2!3m4!1m2!1d-80.9139625!2d35.7846884!3s0x88515a33ed91b165:0xa431e61e5cf05ebd!3m4!1m2!1d-80.88956!2d35.785905!3s0x885159828d44b9ed:0x4de6f14812d348ba!1m5!1m1!1s0x8851593faf865d8d:0x9a8fbf3cbc8bf314!2m2!1d-80.863793!2d35.814395!3e0?hl=en The only mods I have done to the CMax is upping the pressure in the tires to 51psi (I usually run about 44-45) and on my last fill-up I used ethanol-free gas. And I don't run the AC. Windows are usually down for the afternoon commute and up for the morning commute. There is a 600' elevation difference between my house and work (work being lower). I use the terrain to my advantage as much as possible and try to time the few traffic lights on my route so I don't get stopped.
  22. Since the 12V battery does not actually "start" the ICE, the CCA rating should not matter, directly. There shouldn't be that large a load on the 12v battery in the CMax. Yes, the 12V battery runs all the electronics, power steering, power brakes, etc. and while those loads are significant over time, they shouldn't require the amperage that a starter motor uses to turn over an ICE. I would think reserve capacity should be the most important rating for the 12V battery in the CMax. Or am I misunderstanding something?
  23. Thought I would revive this thread, my best so far on my commute to work.
  24. New personal best 58.0 MPG. I am thinking of going after 60 MPG in the next few weeks. Heading to the beach this weekend (which is not conducive to MPG goals). But when I get back going to fill up with ethanol free fuel for a tank or two before I try. I only need 3.5% more to get there. A little cooler weather so I can drive with the windows up and no AC and pump up the tires to max (from my current 43-44PSI) should put me there.
