  1. I was wondering when they would update the numbers.
  2. I don't now what you define as good, but I was thinking of the Hyundai/KIA Hybrids. They have a 6-speed automatic.
  3. Ok, so it's different than the Toyota. But that video will give a person a good understanding of how an eCVT works. It's a planetary gear set with two electric motors. Find a better video, post it.
  4. I heard it called a Continuously Variable Transmission. Here is a thread on how the prius trans works, My inderstanding is that the Ford eCVT is very similar. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2612-how-a-ecvt-works-video/?hl=transmission&do=findComment&comment=28282
  5. I had a problem when running my scangauge. The VHR (Vehicle Health Report) would not run while the scangauge was plugged in. Anyone else have this problem? I also found that not all the FFH codes worked. At least for me they didn't. SOC worked (I have another thread on this http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1927-interesting-information-on-the-high-voltage-battery/). Battery temp seemed to work. Inside air temperature seemed off to me. Anyone have the same problems?
  6. Anybody actually buy a replacement for this yet? If so where did you get it and do you have a part number? Ford's Motorcraft web site does not list a part number for it (unless I am searching wrong). Frams web site lists it as "NR"? UPDATE: I got online with Ford, it isn't in the Parts catalog :drop: But the part number is "CV6Z-19N619-A" List Price $24.95
  7. Since I posted that, my display is up to 45.2 MPG @ ~19,000 miles. Lifted it 0.5 MPG in the last month. :happy feet:
  8. I agree driving habits are a big part of FE with hybrids (weather also!). Although I try to get the best mileage I can, I am finding myself just enjoying the drive more than worrying about the FE and I still get great MPG. Interested to see how the cooler weather ahead will affect my FE. I purchased my CMax in January and managed less than 40mpg that first month. Looking back on it, that isn't bad considering the car was new, cold weather, no update, and not knowing how to drive it for best FE. We will see.
  9. Glad you got to enjoy the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Now you know what I mean when I say there isn't any flat roads to practice P&G on! Mountain roads require Pulsing up and Gliding down. No thought involved!
  10. No check In Hickory, NC, Bought January 2013.
  11. With the month of September coming to a close I had my best month yet for fuel economy. I finished the month at 47.8 MPG (according to Fuelly). And that was on over 1300 miles driven in the month. And yes I have the update. My previous best of 46 MPG was in July, pre update (~1300 miles driven also). Just wondering if anyone else with a Fuelly average well below 47 (mine is 43.5, as you can see in my sig) has been able to best the 47mpg mark for more than a tank or two?
  12. There are many threads on this. I don't know of anyone who's actual mpg (calculated) is equal to what the car says. Mine is off more than 5%. I agree that Ford should be able to get it closer than this. The funny thing is, the car under estimates fuel use when calculating mpg, but over estimates fuel use when calculating miles to empty. Go figure.
  13. Here is my 500 mile tank, 508.5miles using 10.01 gal for 50.7 MPG (18,129.7 total miles and a 98% lifetime brake score):
  14. Yes that is what I used. And no that isn't the Piedmont. Its a mountain near Asheville. The route I mapped is actually I-40. So it is a road that ALOT of people use.
  15. Here is a graph of the mountain of a hill I drove to get my information on how the CMax works on hills. As you can see the total incline is just over 1300' over a distance of 5 miles. MPG is really sucked down going uphill, but on the downhill run ... Here is a view of my total drive (going uphill), from my house to my parents house. Total distance is just over 103 miles and altitude gain is almost 1900' (peak to peak)
  16. On my ~26 mile trip to and from work (300' elevation difference from one point to the other) I have seen as low as 36mpg (new and cold weather) to a high of 56 mpg.
  17. Actually, if the hill is steep enough, in a hybrid, you use almost no energy (except to power the accessories), and most certainly no ICE on the downhill. So, this would make the CMax MUCH more efficient at using the potential energy of the hill. I believe but can't prove that the CMax gets better mileage in hills than flat ground if used correctly.
  18. Thanks!! Great to know that the math backs up my what I am seeing in my driving! I NEVER could have figured that out myself. :worship: And I have NO idea what I did differently. But I just couldn't get it to work with just pasting the url from link on google maps.
  19. When I try it, I get the message "No valis GPS Data Detected". Must be doing something wrong. Figured it out, for me, I need to save the Map first, then use the kml file to get the profile. Here is my drive from work to home: No wonder I get better mileage going to work vs. coming home. There is a 300' evelation change between the two places! I usually get 43-47 coming home, but can get as high as 53 going to work. From the 1 mile point to the 22 mile point is interstate. Thanks for the links!
  20. I've posted a link somewhere on the forum to a long boring (but informative) Youtube video that shows how the Prius drivetrain works. The guy has the inner guts from the eCVT that he uses to demonstrate.
  21. 44.7 mpg @ ~17,300 miles. Reset when I got the car home at about 750 miles. This is what the car is displaying, not what it has actually gotten. See my sig for that number.
  22. Cmax Hybrid should not be affected since it never displayed MPGe. However, the CMax Energi might have this, or not have this as the case my be.
