  1. Thanks, seriously thinking of trying to improve on my best mileage on a tank (704.8 miles) in a month or so. Once temps cool just slightly. Rain also seems to hurt my mileage significantly.
  2. I recently completed my personal best for a tank of fuel 54.5 MPG:
  3. That would be correct. 27 miles commute to work (one way), 22 of that is on the Highway (65mph).
  4. Here are my numbers: Total Miles: 38033.4 EV: 16246.5 ~42.7% Regen: 1375.8 (Don't have a number before the update, sorry) Brake Score: 97% MPG Gage: 46.0 MPG Pump: 43.9
  5. Truthfully, I don't drive much above posted speed limits ... It is a Hybrid  That said, I regularly go full EV in the 65-70 mph range on the downside of the many hills I drive over..
  6. At the risk of being told I'm wrong ... again. I did some research on this when I first got my CMax. I found two different codes for the scangauge for state of charge. See http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1927-interesting-information-on-the-high-voltage-battery/ for more information on the codes and state of charge.
  7. If 62 MPH is the maximum speed you can get for EV mode, you need a software update. The CMax should be able to run EV mode at speeds up to 80 MPH.
  8. I haven't been on in a while but I came across this web site and thought I needed to share. IntelliChoice has created there own testing system for rating MPG for vehicles called Real MPG. Here is a link to how they test vehicles: http://www.intellichoice.com/real-mpg/how-intellichoice-real-mpg-works.html And here is how the 2013 CMax faired in their testing: http://www.intellichoice.com/1-12-2013-50058-56/2013-ford-se-4dr-wagon-real-mpg.html I haven't noticed the news grabbing this up anywhere.
  9. Ok your right, I'm wrong. Sorry I tried to help and/or give my opinion. I've been avoiding this forum for a while and now I remember why.
  10. I think I know why this happened. Was this the first use of the CMax for the day (in other words, was the engine completely cool, ambient temperature)? If so, this is normal. See http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/7408-ffh-warm-up-stages/ for a better explanation of the different stages the engine goes through during warm-up (I know this is from the Fusion site, but it uses the same powertrain as the CMax, you can also read the thread on this at this site: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3378-warm-up-stages-for-fusion-hybrid-by-hybridbear-applicable-to-c-max/). When the CMax First starts the ICE, it will run it at low RPM (basically at idle) until the engine warms up. The link explains ways around it. I just go with it. From my house, I EV to the main road, from there it is about a mile in either direction to the closest stop sign, I kick in the ICE to warm it up during this time since I am moving anyway. Hope this helps.
  11. The weather has been good here so far this week (~80F). This is one of the best drive homes I have had (sorry about the poor quality picture):
  12. I wanted to quantify how much the difference was from what the pump showed and what the CMax showed. Over my last 7 fill-ups I have averaged a 5.9% lower reading for the CMax vs. pump. For a car that gets 45 MPG this represents over a 2.6 MPG difference between what the CMax trip computer displays and my actual mileage. I believe this is unacceptable. My CMax needs its 30,000 mile oil change next week. I will be talking to the service manager about what can be done.
  13. To see if you have the newest software: 1 - make sure the car is up to temperature. 2 - get its speed above 70, 75 would be better, 3 - on a flat section of road (or a slight downhill is better) let off the gas The car should drop into EV mode before it slows to 62MPH. If you use the Empower mode on the left display, you should be able to see the threshold of where the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) runs and EV mode is. If you are not sure what the different displays are on the left, watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl_e-Sx5g-w). At the 2:43 mark, they discuss the "Empower" display. Hope this helps.
  14. 3M VHB Tape is VERY good stuff. I worked for a Bus manufacturer for a while and they used it to adhere body panels to the understructure. No rivots, no screws, nothing but 3M VHB tape. GOOD stuff.

    Wiper blades

I originally ordered the cheaper ones, they didn't have the right mount.

    Wiper blades

I ended up buying mine from Ford. Couldn't find anything that had the right mount. That said, they were only $17.50 + tax (ea) from Ford. Work great too.
  17. The one bar in EV wasn't for acceleration, it was for cruising, I guess I should have made that more clear. For acceleration (from a stop) I usually EV up to ~20mph (depending on terrain), then ICE to speed limit, then EV.
  18. +1 Two bar acceleration is usually adequate and will charge the battery at the same time. Keeping EV to one bar maximizes battery usage. But as they say your mileage may vary!
  19. I don't know, Really didn't pay any attention to that. Not driving the CMax today. I'll try to remember and sent something and see what it does.
  20. The best way is to log into http://www.syncmyride.com . It will show what version you have and whether there are any updates available. The web site has been down for maintenance all weekend though. Sorry
  21. My $0.02 is that Ford is looking to improve "Real World" MPG, not necessarily EPA estimates. The difference between the EPA estimates and "Real World" mileage is what got them in trouble in the first place. EVERY article stated that the Prius could come close or even exceed its EPA estimates, but the CMax .... well, you know the story. So if they can make improvements to what customers actually get, and it is closer to the 43 MPG it currently is rated for .... then its a win for Ford. Sort of.
  22. Here is a link to a 2014 Hybrid window sticker: http://fordlabels.webview.biz/webviewhybrid/WindowSticker.aspx?vin=1FADP5AU5EL501019 This info was taken from this post: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3123-only-30-days-til-2014-job-1/?p=39236 And I believe the EPA data came from here: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/download.shtml
  23. I would agree that the Tire Manufactures, from a legal standpoint, will ONLY say "use what the OEM recommends". If they were to say ANYTHING else would subject them to a lawsuit. As to why the OEM recommends the pressure they do; the article dumbcomputers linked to says it best "The pressures have to take into account passenger comfort, vehicle grip, vehicle load, tire life, rolling resistance and fuel economy." (emphasis added) Passenger comfort (or how rough the car rides) is affected by the tire pressure. for the most part, lower pressures increase comfort while higher pressures decrease comfort. My opinion is that the tire pressure can be increased without major detriment to the vehicle dynamics. How much can you increase it? I don't know. Personally, I run 44psi in my tires. That is about midway between what Ford recommends (38psi) and the max allowed (51psi).
  24. Its in my signature BUT I forgot you don't see that when viewing from a mobile device. I have updated the original post: 2013 Candy Blue CMax Hybrid SE (with equipment group 203A)
