    Close to Having my Car

Good idea on the Rainx, thanks. I picked the car up last night and drove it to work today, and then picked my dad up at the airport in it. He was very impressed with the car. Originally, I had wanted a Focus and he thought that car was too small. So, I got the Escape instead. The C-Max is a nice 'in between' size. I do find the large slope of the windshield to be a little odd. And the navigation system doesn't work. I'm hoping it's just a bad card. I'll be at the dealership on Saturday to work on some of this stuff.
  3. Thanks for this. I have a long commute. Some of it is on city streets, but most of it is on a highway. Depending on traffic, I can go anywhere from 50 mph to 70 mph. I just picked up the car last night, found the eco-cruise mode and turned it on. I'm a lazy driver because I have mobility issues on my right side which makes me a "lead foot." My preference is to set the cruise control so I can take my foot off the pedal.
  4. I am! But, I picked up the new car this evening. Yay! But they didn't do the Xzylon (however they spell it). So I can't really put anything else in the car until that's done. But I'll get you the photos as soon as I can.
  5. I have one of those jobs where I leave for work at 5 a.m., and I can't be late. I want to be prepared in case the 12v battery dies on me. I've read through the battery threads and just want to ask - what should I purchase to keep in the car with me? I'm not battery savvy. I looked at the Tender Plus and the Tender Jr. But I'm not sure what I really need. Thanks.
  6. I had this problem with my Escape. But it was actually my old ipod plugged into the USB port that was causing the problem. I picked up my C-Max today. We stuck the SD card in, and...up popped the dialogue box saying that it was faulty. I took the card out and tried it again - no good.
  7. Sometimes you have to reboot the entire system. The update for the Escape that just came out is supposed to fix many of these weird problems. I take it the Cmax has no update yet.
  8. I will! Howevever, I'm in a rental right now. My Escape is in pieces due to the recall, and my C-Max is sitting on the lot waiting on the money exchange for the buy back. All my stuff is in a bag in the drive way.
  9. Since I've had a 2013 Escape since last spring, dealing with the lack of storage has been an issue for me. What I did to solve it: The bottomless pit console has an indent in it to fit a soda can or water bottle. It's true. When the air conditioning is on, it cools the console inside. I'm in Florida, and believe me, I will NEVER use the console for that. :) I went to Target and bought a plastic cup that fits in circular indent. Inside the cup, I keep napkins, pens, pencils, scissors, plastic utensils, etc. The cup forms a space on the sides where you can stash other items. I have a change purse that slides right in that space between the wall and the cup. That's where I keep my change and cables. The slots on the underside of the console lid hold cards and stuff, but they tend to fall out. There is a nifty hidden slot in the console under the plug-ins. I have no idea what it is meant for, but I use it to keep a spare set of keys. I've never used the hidden floor storage in the back. I then bought an organizer for the driver-side visor. I work at a couple of places that require name tags, keys, etc. In that visor, I have the name tags and keys. Also a pen and a small notebook for logging mileage. I don't tend to have drinks in the car, so I use the cup holders for my sunglasses and phone. There are slots beside the front seats and the door for umbrellas. The door pockets look like they are useful, but they are not. I'm always trying to figure out what to put there, but because it rains a lot here, whatever I put there needs to be okay with getting soaked whenever I open the door in the rain.

    Close to Having my Car

I agree. If I'm going to be 'forced' into having a sun roof, at least it could open. :) I'm starting to get anxious knowing that my car is sitting in the lot, but I can't have it yet. The C-Max I test drove was an SE as well, but I swear the seats were different than the seats on the car I'll receive. I made a spread sheet of how much money I've spent on gas since September. I'm looking forward to seeing how low I can bring that number down to.
  11. March 31, 2012, I purchased one of the first 2013 Escapes off the conveyor belt. Unfortunately, it's been involved in every recall. Ford is doing a 'buy back' of my car, and I'm swapping to a C-Max hybrid. The dealership has been working hard to find a car for me that fits my needs, so I had to let go of the color I wanted in order to get the seats I wanted plus navigation. It's sitting in the lot, and we're just waiting on Ford to tell us how the transfer of funds is happening. I drove it today in order to do some bonding. :) The one thing I'm not too sure about is that it has a sun roof. I honestly didn't want a sun roof, but it's what I ended up with. I noticed that if there are spots from water on the sun roof, when the shade is closed, it looks stained. That should just be enough to make my OCD kick in overtime. I am, however, truly excited to get into the car. I've been in rental cars for so long, I'm looking forward to making my car a home. I have a long commute to work each day, so I'm also excited to save a few dollars on gas. asb
  12. I hope you are healing! Thanks for the warning!
  13. I bought a ruby red 2013 escape. It's been involved in four recalls. Heck, I haven't seen the car since Thanksgiving. Did a buy bavk with Ford. I really wanted candy blue cmax, but the only car available was the ruby red. So back into red I go.
