Congratulations! And good for you for getting the price you wanted. I've never been able to negotiate on a new car. But I drive a mean bargain on a used car.

38 mpg on a long trip going 70 mph. My dad drove the car back - I have no idea what speed he was driving at, but I'm sure it was more than 70. It was also very, very windy. He got 27 mpg.

I lived in Vermont for two years/winters. At the time, I drove a Ford minivan. For the entire time I was there, there were only two days when I road to work with someone who had a Subaru, and one day when I said there was no way I was driving my car down the hill I lived on. So, from my personal experience with front wheel drive, I think you'll be fine with good snow tires. However, do know that your gas mileage will go down with the cold weather. The batteries are not as efficient in the cold.

We do, too. It's just too humid here to rely on just opening the windows. I did, however, set the AC for 76 degrees instead of 63, where I was running it. It was a bit overcast yesterday, so the car was not as hot. I'll keep giving that a try. The question would be - is it better to run the AC at a higher temp (76) and a higher fan speed than to run it at a lower temp and lower fan speed. I did discover that above 76, there was no way to be comfortable in the car.

It's about 86 degrees out today. I decided to take a look at how much of a power drain the AC is...and it is a lot.

I go to a variety of places. I'll see if I can figure out a pattern.

To respond to all of your comments: I gave that a try on the way home today. 89 degrees outside this afternoon. 42.9 mpg. This morning - no air conditioning and 41.9 mpg. My windows are tinted. I generally always have the air on recirculation. Why is it not advised for longer trips? I remember being confused about this before. That sounds way too complicated! :) I'm mainly worried about failing batteries, etc. But if that doesn't seem like the cause, then I'm fine with the lowered mileage. Though, I would prefer to be hitting 50 again. Thanks everyone.

When I first started driving the C-Max, I was getting between 47 and 50 mpg. But now I'm getting a steady 43. Right now I'm running the air conditioning, but that wasn't the case a few weeks ago. My miles are mostly highway. Sometimes in traffic, sometimes not. I've tried P & G and I've been working hard at finding that "sweet spot" when there is no traffic on the highway. I'm about to hit 5,000 miles. Thoughts?

I figured that by the time I need to replace the batteries, the price would have come down significantly due to competition.

I can barely see the temperature and speed limit (on the right-hand nav screen) because the font is so small and I don't drive with reading glasses on. :)

How can your dealer swap out the car????? That sounds like a lawsuit of some sort. I also have a test driven car and am missing a few things - like a second key. The dealer is working on it. I haven't seen a list of what is supposed to come with the car.

I think you can turn them off by just clicking past it.

I parked next to someone with a Prius V a few weeks ago. He and I compared cars. I honestly think there is no way the CMax is going to beat the V in cargo space. However, if you are creative in how you pack things, then it isn't a problem.

I've actually had issues in parking lots with people not moving out of my way because they had no idea I was trying to leave.

In the ford flex I rented, I got 19 mpg. I've noticed that wind kills my mpg. It's too bad.

Well, no. You cannot option up without getting the leather seats. And some of us were not a le to take the option to wait 2 months for their car. The world is not a one size fits all scenario.
