Are there any FORD dealers aware of Low MPG problems?
asb replied to ptjones's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
My dealership has been fantastic. From the Service department to the Sales department - I have nothing to complain about. I chose a small, family run dealership over the larger dealership in town. Since I'm in the process of a buy back on the Escape, I am so pleased that I made the dealership decision that I did. They are not making a penny on this sale, yet everyone - two sales people, the Sales Manager, and the Service department - have bent over backwards to help me. I don't qualify for any incentives and discounts due to the buy back, but my Sales manager is working on making sure I get the best deal from the Ford Corp. They've given me two options - Refund or Replacement. They are working on the numbers to determine which is the best for me. I've decided to try not to pay any attention to the averages as far as mpg go. When I drive down the road to get the mail, my mpg is very low, which then factors into the lifetime average. So even though I'm getting between 45 and 50 mpg every commute, my lifetime, and even per tank, averages are 42/43 mpg. I think it's a shame that Ford has lowered the mileage estimates in order to appease people who don't understand. But I bet it will be the last time they open sales up in the winter for a hybrid. In Florida, I'm getting GREAT mileage. I couldn't be happier. Plus, the car is freakin' fun to drive.- 20 replies

You bet. Outside temp around the mid-70s on the way home from work. Mixed amount of touch-and-go traffic on the highway and some city street driving - 30 miles driven this trip. 1100 total miles on the car. 50.2 mpg. :)

They reset mine, again, on Saturday. So far, so good.

I have the BT connect issue - both in my Escape and with the CMax. It's easy to deal with - whether you should have to or not isn't a problem for me, I guess. This happens most of the time with me when I don't have BT turned on on my phone before turning on the car. I hit 'connect to phone' which takes me to the connect screen. It will show that I'm connected, but I'm not. So I hit the back button. Then hit connect again and it does. The 2013 Escape just got their software update. I'm not sure how it works as my Escape is in pieces. So I'm looking forward to a CMax update.

I'm on my second tank and hit 44. But the temperature has dropped dramatically today. And I noticed that my mileage dropped yesterday when it spent the day in the shop getting the windows tinted. :(

Full battery(or near full) and ICE, different sound from engine

I think I've noticed what you're talking about. I've only heard it a couple of times. What I've noticed is that my battery is rarely fully charged. It's generally around 50%. -

What kind of Mileage should I expect driving in hot weather?
asb replied to ThatAutGuy's topic in Fuel Mileage
I'm in Orlando. Even with running the air, I'm getting in the low 40s. But it all depends on your driving style as well as all the other variants. -
61 degrees here, rainy, had to run the defrost on the way home. Stop and go traffic. It took me an hour and 15 minutes to drive 30 miles. 46.7 mpg.

Ford Tech Response to Clock and Calendar Problems
asb replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I would have to go sit in my car to tell you the exact way to do this. But, you need to just go to settings and follow the prompts. I think it was settings, clock, and then set to GPS. My clock reverted to the wrong time, I found the GPS setting, and haven't had a problem since. Honestly, the best way to learn about the MFT is to sit in the car and just keep following menus. -
The MFT has been a chronic problem with the new Fords. The Escape has issues (they just got a software update), and I think the 2012s have issues, too. When I was researching what car to purchase, most all the reviews mentioned problems with the MFT. It is quirky, and there are problems. But, I found with my Escape that I did get better at using it - there's a huge learning curve with it.

I'm in Florida - warm temps. I've run the air conditioning on the car in the afternoon. Per trip, I'm getting 42 - 46 mpg. Mostly highway driving. I will do 65 mph on the short stretch of highway where that is the actual speed limit. When the speed limit drops to 60, so do I. I'm extremely happy with the car. Pulling out into speeding traffic on the highway is also easy. Love it!

Yep, one of the parts listed in this thread was the part that isn't working on my car. Order for part has been put in.

Perfect. Thank you. I know the C-Max isn't getting the advertised 47 mpg for many people. But I'm so freakin' happy to be getting anything in the 30s - it's all good to me.

I may be making a trip to south Florida. The speed limit on the turnpike is 75 mph. What kind of mileage should I expect driving my C-Max hybrid at 75?
-
I'm having the check engine light issue, too.
-
I've got 620 miles on the car. I just got it Monday night - I'm still on my first tank of gas. The car says I'm averaging 40 mpg.

When I try playing the music on my phone through the USB, it doesn't work. So I just use it through the Bluetooth.

I live in Florida, I'd love to hear your thoughts on summer driving. I try my best to monitor the temperature in my cars and keep the AC fan on low or a higher temperature.

I am getting used to the C-Max brakes. I like them. Because I have mobility problems, I like knowing I can 'slam' on the brakes without having to apply too much force. I have short legs and small feet, so it has been difficult finding the proper settings for the seat as far as distance between pedals and seat goes. But I cannot pivot my foot from gas to brake and have to lift my leg in order to get a full stop. If I need to just slow down, I can hit the brake with the corner of my shoe.

I'm at 38 mpg after yesterday's driving. But my short hops around town are all over 40 mpgs. I was watching how quickly the battery drains. I'll need to do a bit more research on ICE and how to keep that battery level up.

Just a little piece of mind. The Prius owner down the street told me he had his 12v battery die and he had to buy a new one. I should probably tell him about these little devices.

I think that renting a car before you buy is an excellent way to test it out. However, I think your options may be regional. In the south east, there aren't enough C-Maxes around to allow for a rental. They are in high demand, so there aren't any on the lots, either.

I was looking at the Simple Start. I like the fact that it fits easily in the floor compartment. I'll have to set some sort of reminder to recharge it. :)
