Well aware of what it means to "flash" a unit - been in the information technology line for 43 years. the "supposed" excuse in this customer non-appreciation issue is "The latest details I have (from un-named sources) are that the issue is the PCM (Power Control Module) in the EV/Hybrid cars requires a firmware update (not part of MFT but works with MFT). On new cars the PCM firmware is already updated, but Ford is trying to come up with a plan/process for updating the PCM firmware for existing cars that have already shipped". If they can;t come up with a plan or a process then their technical staff needs a review and they should just forget about throwing money into that issue by just fork lifting the module to a new one that includes the vaporware code, after all they have been trying to figure out how to do it for 4 1/4 months. they spent more in hourly salaries and customer distrust then it will cost them to change out the module to one that works. What good will it do to publish a new date, they won;t make it anyway
-
Again bull - it is a piece of hardware, hardware can be fork lifted out and replaced with a full functioning piece - if it is as claimed this can be a explanation on the dead batteries and other electrical issues that have been reported. Be the same - if the software cannot be updated because of this, then it is defective and should be replaced with the newer version that is shipped with the newer cars and already have the new update. This is the 4th big fallacy that is being told

att does not throttle the top 5%, they throttle at 3GB and 5GB for lte, even cricket throttles, the days of the "unlimited' all you can consume for one low price cellular data are going the way of the dodo bird, this is also becoming evident in the home broadband market niche also. Verizon is forcing people off the grandfathered plans by removing the ability to get a subsidized smartphone unless you choose a new plan to replace the old unlimited plan.

Why C MAX ruined my Ford experience (not MPG related)

Or how about apple using the standard SMS message protocol instead of going off on a tangent and creating their own little Imessage service subsystem that no one else in the universe uses? Had a 3GS prior to the advent of the infamous "imessage" app and it interfaced fine to the Escape that i had with sync.Soon as IOS 6 was applied with "imessage" it no longer worked -
Doubt it, unless they are tech heads or specifically want that feature. have seen a trend that the majority of smartphone users utilize 1/10th the capabilities of their phone. My current girlfriend got her smartphone because if was cute and went well with he fashonista sense, she can care less that it has hotspot capabilities and does not even know what that is. Heck I have executives in my company that work for me and they don;t even know about it nor understand it Out of the top 3 providers - ATT, Verizon, Sprint only Sprint offers "unlimited" cell phone data currently and there are fair use policies in affect that will permit the carriers to throttle you if they determine that there is a abuse of data consumption by the user. Of the other 2 att throttles a grandfathered "unlimited" data use at 3GB for 3G and 5GB for LTE to speeds that are the same as the old 2400 baud modems. Verizon has sunseted their discontinued unlimited plans by giving the users the choice - want a subsidized phone, then get rid of the discontinued unlimited plan. Even T-Mobile and cricket with their "unlimited" plans have a fair use policy in effect that allow them to throttle. Unlimited data plans are not unlimited, they have their restrictions - throttling still allows you to get all the data that you want, just not at the speeds you feel is deserved so you still have unlimited data

Bought in October of 2012 - Vehicle number 717 built in July of 2012, no early adopters of the C-Max have version 3.5.1 of the Sync software yet, nor is their any ETA on when we will get it - they promised by the end of the first quarter which I guess was missed, but then again they never said the 1st Quarter of what year. I really want a GPS that when I try to use it it actually gets me to where I need to go and does not tell me to turn left in the middle of a bridge

funny, have a iphone 5 and have absolutely no issues with that part of the system, as a matter of fact that is the one of the few things that doe work on the car, I don;t blame the crappy GPS on the Sync system, just a crappy GPS system. As far as the Iphone not doing text message to voice on the Sync system - remember Apple as of IOS 6 is NOT using a standard SMS texting module, they have their own custom written Imessage that handles texting, prior to that implementation my old Iphone 3 worked perfectly with the texting interface on the sync system As far as the OS goes, to me not a point of discussion - there are MS lovers / haters and Linux Lovers / Haters, IOS lovers / haters that argument will be around till the end of time. Seen junk Liniux builds also and the IOS build on the iphone is one of the biggest security failures I have seen in years, so bad that we banned Iphones and android phones from the corporate network until they get it fixed properly -
If this is the case, then expect a 199.00 extra charge for the A4 map chip since the vaporware 3.5.1 invalidates the A3 map set for navigation. they try and charge and that will be the final nail in the coffin on this car, it will hit the used car lot faster then a SR71 flying coast to coast in the US

Correct it has no cellular modem capabilities without tethering a cell phone with the proper data plan
-
Recent iphones have hotspot capability's, earlier ones do not. Not all phones have this capability so it would be advantageous to them. Not really a catch 22, if he phone does not have it then it is useful, although having 3 or 4 other people utilizing your phone as a hotspot will blow through your data allocation quickly
-
but to attach it to the car you need the tethering plan from the carrier - catch 22 at least with the iphone since it already has hotspot capabilities, where as other phones don't.
-
are you paying for a data plan on att that allows tethering - only the 5GB data plan or the new mobile share plans do.
-
what XML file that it generates, POS or not it is the official ford and MS support site - I do agree, both the product, the support and the site are a SDT's. Don;t expect a call from ford or the dealer, have been promised them and never had one since I got this car back in October. Instead of the 3 biggest lies, we now have number 4 - someone will call you back.

3.5.1 is only available for new units coming off the assembly line, as of right now they still have no eta on when early adopters are going to get it. Between this and the poor mileage I am serious looking at a Focus Titanium they have on the lot, can probably get better gas mileage and will definitely be cheaper

95 percent highway driving with light traffic @ 60-64 MPH on cruise, I go to work at 3:30 and leave to go hone at around 10:30 AM 6,211.9 miles to date, 181.729 galleons used to date, Avg MPG 34.182

what settings are you using? this one is not

I am talking about the www.syncmyride.com Put IE10 on a windows 7 VMware system and installed IE10, getting the same message
-
talked in the in vehicle technical support line again - pretty much forget about getting it in the first quarter, they still have no idea. To add insult to injury tried going to the official support site - syncmyride.com and they don't support access with IE10 - which is the only version of IE that works on Windows 8

I did multiple times, promised a call numerous times, never had one, I am just stated the facts as I have them, spread sheet for every fill up since I have had the car back in October. My YTD for 6 months is 34.176 MPG. If asked when I am at a parking lot or in a public area I tell it how I have the facts from having the car for 6 months. Suspect that this attitude is frowned upon here, -
More importantly here it is a 250.00 ticket + points for careless and reckless driving, tripled if in a posted work zone.

truth does hurt doesn't it - agree 100 percent with the OP. I tell people to buy it for the car and disregard anything to do with mileage statistics unless you are willing to bend over backwards to get near the ratings. The driver should not have to pay more attention to the tricks to get mileage then the road. Average 34 @ 63 mph with 98 percent of my driving done in light traffic situations on the highway on cruise control, 75 miles a day doing that. I traded in a Escape that was netting me about 28 MPG with those driving habits -
same thing that has been promised since Dec-2012 - the check is in the mail. with all the issues with the c-max counting the months to lease end - 18 months to go

the same people that designed and wrote the nav app for the Iphone when they got rid of Google maps - problem is the design and coding team decided to try the navigation app by using it to guide them to get coffee - they left the offices in Cupertino for the 5 block trip and where last seem on Mount Everest still without coffee
-
what I still find amazing 1. C-Max's are coming off the assemble lines with the 3.5.1 and A4 map card - so it is positively out there and running 2. early adopters are still waiting for the update that is available and the map card What is the deal with ford and the forgotten early purchasers of this car?
