That's a real shame. I was really tempted to buy a C-Max from Carvana before I found one at local dealership. I'd inspect the photos of the car on their website super closely to see if the scrapes. Also contact your customer service rep about it, and see if you can get a discount or something from them.

Confirming worrisome metal on metal grinding noise

I considered replacing the Sync 2 unit in mine with a salvaged Sync 3, but it just seemed like too much work in the end. How hard was the swap for you? -

Fingers crossed for you. When I posted the WAV file initially back in the middle of 2020, @SnowStorm thought it probably wasn't a transmission issue as it could only heard outside the car (or inside with great effort). -

Let me know how it goes. I had my car serviced (just an oil change) a while back, but I didn't ask them about the metallic sound because it was winter and I couldn't hear it all with the windows up. In fact, when I've been driving with the windows lately this spring I've barely heard the sound, so it might be something to do with my brakes or wheel alignment (I got the latter fixed when I got new tires fitted). -

Do your transmission grinding noise get louder and louder over time, or did it just suddenly appear one day? -
Greetings! We all love our C-Maxes here, even those that have moved on or are moving on to other cars. Is this your first hybrid? What are you trading up from? (If you don't mind me asking)

I think my car made a similar sound (and it still does but to lesser degree). Does it sound like what I've attached? metallic noise(1).wav -
2017 Hybrid R front noise.

Can you record the sound? Might help if someone else out there has suffered the same sounding thing. -
Who is going to jump to the Escape Hybrid?

That's sad. So many delays. Are you going to stick with the order? -
Oh, and before you're gone for good from this site. How did procure the ST wheels, and grille for your car? I really like the grille, so much nicer than the overdone too chromey standard unit.

Great choice of replacement vehicle. And the hybrid version too! Let us know how you find the Pacifica. I'm sure there are some people on here who would like to know (like me). I really do wish there was a minivan option between C-Max and Pacifica/Sienna/Odyssey size available in the US, like the S-Max offered in Europe.

Considering C Max Purchase - What do I need to know?
takingittothemax replied to Sibelus's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
There were transmission problems that hit some (many?) C-Max models built before Oct 2015, so avoid those cars unless there's an extended 10 year warranty on them or you're willing to take the risk. I have a 2014 and the powertrain warranty expires in 2022. If you want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you need a car with Sync 3, and that's only available in 2016+ model years. -
Hahaha. Nice. If this was my area, I'd have to avoid my own street, and practically all the streets ?

Looks great. How's the ride and handling now that it's lower? And what tyres is it wearing?

I have an old pair of chopsticks I use to pick up leaf litter that collects there. -

Turn signal bulb replacement?
takingittothemax replied to stolenmoment's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I still have not successfully managed to change the turn signal bulb on my C-Max. After struggling for an hour, I managed to get the headlight assembly out, but I couldn't get the bulb unit out. With the sunlight fading, I had to call it quits and tried to get the headlight unit back in. After 30 minutes more struggling with that, I managed to get it all back to square one. Thankfully the car has indicators in the mirrors, otherwise I'd be mightily screwed. -

Oil/Filter CHANGE Schedule!
takingittothemax replied to Degrandbob's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I just had my oil change done. I was about 4 months late on it, and gave the local Ford dealership $50 for the effort because, well, I don't have a driveway. -
Thanks for fixing this up!

Totally agree. Who owns this site?

SPAM: my favourite comfort food
takingittothemax replied to takingittothemax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I remember when I bought our C-Max in April 2020, this site was a great help to me. At the time the C-Max Owners Club forum was overrun by spam. They seem to have to fixed that problem now. -

I didn't know this site was being supported by Ford. I always wondered who was running it. -

Thanks Homestead. I've done that. Every time I come back, there's more. Was wondering if there were still any moderators around who can delete this stuff or figure out how to stop it (or lessen it).
