Highest MPG CMax Club (minimum 500 miles)
11StiLimited replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
In theory, shouldn't this club have just as many entries as we have members? If everyone posted an entry, then we could see the bigger picture across the board. Some drivers are more aggressive, or have more hills, or even more traffic than others. This would paint a nice range of MPG's achieved under a wider range of conditions. Right now, this list is more of a "best of" compilation. -
As far as city driving goes, almost all my driving (90-95%) is city driving and short trips. I saw a 2 mpg increase since the update. It took a little tweeking of my SOC usage, but I pretty much am getting that 2 mpg increase over the entire tank since the update. I have done no concrete research on how, but I know this 600+ tank netted about 2 mpg more according to Fuelly than my last 600+ tank.

What about a speaker level line converter? It would seem way easier to use the speaker level line converter (output to RCA) and go with that. A) Does using one of these change the power to, or eliminate the speakers tapped, when used? B) Is the speaker level output analog, thus negating the need for the BitTen to convert the digital signal from the SYNC module?

My latest entry and new personal best miles per tank. I technically had a better MPG tank before this one, according to Fuelly, but I am still happy with it. I was gunning for 660 miles, and probably would have made it, but my wife was having a panic attack and I needed to rush home to grab her a pill. Not wanting to risk it, I filled up when I could. I am not sure how I will ever eek out 700, let alone 800. My trips are far too short and I simply avoid driving as much as possible these days. With my STI, I drove EVERYWHERE all the time, sometimes taking drives in the country for no other reason than to blast some deep country back roads for the thrill of G-forces. Anywho:

lol, I am :airquote: special for sure :baby: I was just wondering the basis. I didn't know if it was a conflict with what my fuelly was reporting or something, at the time?
-
How come mine is the only one the says "filled" I am probably going to fuel up either today, or tomorrow. I will have a new, higher ranking, contribution :)

Wait a sec. You guys are topping off the tank a little when low on gas, to extend range, without using more than the 13.5 tank capacity?

Here's mine -
I must have been thinking of another thread, lol.

I thought this thread was for 50+ mile trips only?

Plasti-Dip Smoke tint tailights
11StiLimited replied to mtb9153's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I did all those already, as well (see my member's journal in my sig). Wheels may get done next weekend, weather permitting. Waiting on the tax man for the tint and headlight changes. -
Be careful on those hills and remember that redline :arrive_alive:

It's amusing to me that you use the term "full manual". I have been thinking for a couple weeks now that the major differences in opinion on here regarding Eco-Cruise boils down to one simple thing: driving an automatic like a stick shift. I have been driving stick for the last decade and coming back to an automatic killed me. I just drove this car like I did any automatic I found myself in. Hit the car, wait for the transmission to catch up, grab a bursts of speed, then drop off throttle to bring back down the RPM's and gears. That being said, I have discovered several nuances to driving automatics with CVT's. With a CVT, you can listen to the engine noises to determine a rough idea of RPM's at a given load, giving you a better chance at "feathering" the throttle. To the people who are too lazy to do it, I would suspect that it is a matter of habit for you NOT to do it. It is not hard to do and is a requirement in manual transmissions. To those who may have disabilities, or otherwise sore limbs or joints, I understand why Eco-Cruise not only works for you, but makes the drive more comfortable for you. MPG's aren't everything, especially when you get as much car as this for the $$ and get respectable MPG's not matter how you drive. That also being said, I had a chance to drive about 50 miles in an under-powered 5-speed manual. I loved the whole trip. Having the throttle and RPM control provided in a manual definitely is still better than our CVT's, for driving enjoyment. My overall sense of control provided only by the transmission simply can't compete. MPG wise, I dogged the hell out of his car and still got about 31mpg on the highway in a 2008 Saturn Astra. I wonder how the C-max would do, if I put it through the same beating for one trip, lol? Would the high use of ICE in aggressive driving situation destroy the mpg to 31, or less? Maybe I will try it out after this tank. Make the run and back, then just fill up again. After all, what is one 50 mile trip in the 100k+ scheme of things?

I have always wanted a Black on White car :D -
Still could use a picture, particularly of the connections to the amp/sync module. All I want is a clean signal to send to a pre-amped pc subwoofer. Pics of the bit Ten D would be nice, too. Really want to add some bass, but not willing to really cut and chop the electronics of this car if it isn't worth it.

Dang, you beat me to this :p Looks great! -
I haven't had any of the troubles you guys are having. Mine is still just a peppy and isn't really any louder with the windows down than it was before. Used the AC for the first time last week and it was working just fine. Sorry to hear about your experiences :(

Not for long, lol. I am expecting 660+ out of this tank. Was aiming for 700, but that isn't looking very good right now. Grats C-MaxSeattle! Welcome to the 600 club :D

Excellent point to mention :happy feet:

Yes, I called my dealer and asked for the recall services mentioned above. They had not contacted me, but I was one of the first one's on the forum to actually get it. Not all dealers are moving at the same pace. All should have the PCM (powertrain control module) update, and some will have the headliner parts. I am still waiting on my parts for the headliner.

So you think a slow burn is the most Fuel Efficient way to drive?
11StiLimited replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Until I get a better mount, or different camera, I am not going to try this. It seems like a waste of gas, if you are not recording quality results. I think I will stick with your initial assessment, for now. -
Yes, 13B07 is a software update. Like TxTom & MtnMarty, your dealer most likely has not updated their system yet.

The "SE" Badge was the only one I removed. I like the C-Max logo, as well as the "Hybrid" Badges. I showed that they were plasti-dipped black, as opposed to the stock chrome. The "SE" & "SEL" badges are essentially the same, plus the "L". I removed the "evidence" that I bought the cheapest base model, I could find, lol. I was trying to save as much $$$ as possible, and the perks of the SEL put the car out of my price range, given my trade-in situation.

Your test SUCKS to execute, lmao! Managing the camera, switching displays, proper throttle, that is a lot at once with 2 hands. Of course, I was attempting to video the test, not camera the test, so admittedly, I made it harder. Going to look into mounting the camera in a fixed position which won't block use of the wheel or view of the cluster. My hope, is that using video, we can remove the seconds of lag involved with switching displays and executing the test. -

Will post my results after testing. I will also do 2 runs at each to average them out.
