I too am interested in how the Goodyear Fuel Max works out. I prefer to buy American designed, engineered and manufactured tires. ( and its name has Max in it. )
-
My sense is that if it were not OK, there would be warning messages at the terminals of the battery and the engine compartment and in the manual and it would be fuel for bad reviews by reporters, not to mention source of warranty service and potential loss of customer good will.

The way I sense it: Ford knows how messed up MFT and sync are. They were so grossed out that they are not using microsoft anymore. It is a real black eye. To offer updates would be astronomically expensive, even with an upgrade charge. Too many difference nuances of the models and lots of personel needed to support something like that. I suspect some of Ford's light bulbs have not been too bright in areas of electronics, though I did read about them hiring lots of tech types a while back, though hiring lots of people is not necessarily good - need to hire smart and also let go smart. By the way, when I got my C-Max I was surprised to find out I had Microsoft software. 1. My phone did not pair. I bought another phone that did pair but stopped using it because I got a dead battery and thought it had something to do with that. 2. I record mp3s and can't play them on my usb drive because of some protection. I can burn them to a CD and play them. ( not illegal recording BTW ) So I kind of put a emotional wall around the entertainment system so I wouldn't go into the black hole of stupidity. If I don't focus on the black holes, I can enjoy the car and realize that there are also some very, very creative and well done aspects of this car that reflect that some of Ford's light bulbs are quite bright. .

FYI, as I recall, there is a thread around here that talks about a cludge for daytime running lights - something like put some opaque tape over the light sensor which my best guess is somewhere around the front dash. The way I look at it, I bought a first model year car and this is what happens. I suspect when I am getting ready for my next hybrid, the cars will be much better. And I feel good about buying a car that puts Americans (North Americans) to work.

I have one of these which seem like a similar thing but they claim 400 amps. It gives me peace of mind, though I have never used it. I like that it is small. http://www.amazon.com/PowerAll-PBJS12000-R-All-In-One-Battery-Starter/dp/B00KSG4NGI/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1419221568&sr=1-1&keywords=PowerAll http://www.amazon.com/PowerAll-PBJS12000R-Rosso-Portable-Starter/dp/B00D42AFS8/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1419221568&sr=1-2&keywords=PowerAll Mostly excellent reviews though there are reports when it did not work (As I recall due to some voltage thing, not high enough.). I paid $95 for mine. Here is one that may be more powerful than mine, though probably a bit heavier. It also has good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Spirit-A8-Emergency-Ultra-bright-Cellphone/dp/B00KBINF7G/ref=pd_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0KM6QBFSQMCKT65JB256

I would also check out some prices on cars.com, new and used for comparison. -

I personally have a different one that i paid more for so I can't vouch for it but it has good reviews.

It would be slick if the spare tire could be positioned in a way that lowered the wind resistance and so improved gas mileage at high speeds.

I tend to bite at a low price, but in hind sight I am now leaning toward the husky mats. I was very surprised at how much water comes off my feet. -

I don't know, buy I would be asking the same question if got that kind of mileage. With ECO cruise I get about 41 in the summer at 70 mph on a clear day with tires 45-50 psi cold with my hybrid, not an energi. Rain lowers mileage. Cold lowers mileage. Car still breaking in lowers mileage. Air Conditioning lowers mileage. Inflating tires to 45-50 psi increases mileage. (By the way, there is an cmax energy forum that is separate from this one, not that you are not welcomed here.)

Does the it make the sound at all speeds ? I used to have very heavy car with relatively small tires. The belts would shift and then I couldn't balance them. I just kept the problem tires on the back. I was thinking you may have a problem tire that is OK for the back.

One thing people have done to sporty up the wheels is to plastidip them black if that is of any interest. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4356-black-rims-and-grill-complete/ http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4141-do-you-know-who-owns-this-car/ http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3050-plastidip-paint/

I agree. It is pretty much a tie. I was just surprised because I also thought the added weight might be a factor at normal driving speeds.

Dead car after removing and replacing HV fuse

Perhaps disconnecting the battery might reset it. -
With this talk about a spare I posted this. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/4515-windstar-donut-spare/ ALSO Smiling Jack, I would be interested in how your tire problem concludes.

ebay listing for spare donut tire from windstar http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1116-spare-tire-solution-for-c-max-hybrid/ Some people would not want this because it is old and perhaps a hazard. I have one from a windstar and it works fine and I am not afraid of it being too old. (Along with a tire repair kit, it give me peace of mind.) This tire has been for sale a while. In the above link I describe my experience with the windstar spare - close in size but not the same so expect some pull on braking if on front. I did paint mine for it came with weathered paint. http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-00-01-02-03-WINDSTAR-COMPACT-DUMMY-SPARE-TIRE-WHEEL-RIM-00120346-/281134063635?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheels&hash=item4174e56013&vxp=mtr

Consumer Reports rates Jetta TDI at 45 highway and EPA highway is 42. And with diesel fuel more expensive I would like to know more on why you say the Jetta is a better highway car. Thanks.

UPDATE: as of Oct 30, no more available. ( Since there are some things people don't like about these mats and they are pricey, returns in the future may be likely. ) WeatherTech DIgitalfit Floor Mat - from the part of Amazon.com that resells returns. ($74.16) (just the front seats - may want to check out the full set) http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00A00IIJU/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used Link to a new item for comparison: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A00IIJU/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= I just got these. They were suppose to be used-acceptable but looked brand new to me. The box looked like it had been opened. A lot cheaper than new. When I made the purchase last Friday it was displayed that there are two more left. The black looks great - blends into the black plastic molding under the door. And as others have mentioned, it would have been nice if they went up higher on the floor. ( I recall reading that the Husky liners do go up higher. ) camelcamelcamel price history used: http://camelcamelcamel.com/WeatherTech-444591-Weathertech-FloorLiner-DigitalFit/product/B00A00IIJU?active=used&context=browse camelcamelcamel price history new: http://camelcamelcamel.com/WeatherTech-444591-Weathertech-FloorLiner-DigitalFit/product/B00A00IIJU?active=new&context=browse (best deals not in the winter)

Windows rolled themselves today
obob replied to AMSDPS's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
My dealer said he couldn't do it. I had a Ford rep help me. Told me to go to another dealer who she said was top notch and said he could do it. Went there. Then was told they could not do it. I left a message on the Ford reps machine but did not get a return call. I kind of gave up. If my counting is correct, it happened to me 6 times. I had put some rubber things on to help stop it but they came off. Am going to try another thing to prevent it. This key window thing is really is a poor design. I go dancing. I use one of those key chains that split in half so I can keep the important keys with me when I dance so they don't get stolen. It also helps for valet. It is probable that the geometry makes it worse for me. The second dealer told me that in most Fords it can be disabled in the menus. -
There is enough wiggle room that people have used limited clearance tire chains.
