  1. I am looking forward to a picture to see the aero mods they made and the mpg numbers. Sounds like it should be any day now.
  2. I had mine done. For me it is kind of one of those one hand clapping updates. Though my sense is they finally figured it out and I needn't worry about whether my car will be ready to get up and go. They asked me if I wanted to wait for it - I said I would to go for a walk and be back in an hour.
  3. wab and Bill-N, Thanks again. I'm going to order a bluetooth OBD adapter. I am also considering getting a OBD extension cable to make it easy to unplug so I just in case the adapter drains the battery. I am not clear on why to root it with standard Android though I got a little taste. I tried to use my bluetooth phone headset on the Nook to test the distance and it didn't work. After some Googling I read that for now the Nook doesn't work with a headset that has a microphone and some bluetooth keyboards, so it seems like the bluetooth driver development is not as good as the full blown android. I actually bought this tablet to leave in the car for when I am out and need to use the internet. If I can't get Torque to work, I might use that $30 for the rooted microsd toward a Google tablet and then have two tablets. The Nook HD+ was better than I expected. It was suppose to be refurbed but looks new. And the screen is so good I just stare at it sometimes. My concern with a flash card is that it will wear out, for flash only gets so many writes. On the other hand, the HD+'s screen is so good for the money, it might be better to just use that. By the way, my Nook HD+ comes with google play - older ones did not. I am pretty stoked on getting this running.
  4. I want to get an OBD adapter and I am open for recommendations. I just got a Nook HD+. I am concerned about your understanding about the "within 3 feet." This signal will have to go through the dashboard too. Though like bluetooth with respects to its low power. WIfi route or Bluetooth and any specific ideas bases on your experience ? Thanks. Very appreciative of all the legwork with the codes.
  5. Just got back from a trip. I put the spare behind the front drivers seat to have more room for luggage in the back. I would feel unprepared without the spare, and feel good about having a flat repair kit. Absolutely no second thoughts about getting it.
  6. I have used a back massager, neck massager, and heat pad. I have had problems if I use them before the car gets a chance to run some. Some circuit breaker goes off and doesn't come back for a day, even though it suppose to come back sooner. Not sure if I should take it into the shop. As far as how much wattage, I have one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CNSPsZ_LnrsCFWLNOgodOEYASA&Item=N82E16882715001&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Home+Gadgets-_-N82E16882715001&ef_id=UnLYYQAAAMcP5QhY:20131207170041:s It will measure watts, though start up watts seem to be what jumps the circuit breaker and that is tougher to measure. I started carrying my old inverter that plugs in the 12V for when the car's inverter is feeling under the weather.
  7. I used to use it quite a bit but now I often prefer to use the brakes. Especially after the update, I find the ICE is used too often, so wasted potential regen. I can do the same hill with the brakes and get more regen and accelerate at the bottom of the hill to save even more. For super steep long hills where the battery is going to be maxed out anyway, I do still use it.
  8. There is a good chance that is what they did. Some ideas I have are they could take off the battery cables and check the resistance between the cables to see if something is still demanding electricity. If the resistance if super high then nothing at that time is demanding electricity. There are things someone could to do to localize the system drawing current, though that would be more for a Ford engineer. They could also check the voltage of that battery at that time. I am also wondering if Ford could have a computer write diagnostic information on the last say 48 hours recording what is drawing current.

  10. There are others on this message board that know more than me, however, there post 1018 of this thread http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/361-battery-dead/page-51 suggest that SEs have more of a problem that SELs. There also may be a post with some informal survey that also reflects SEs have more problems that SELs. I think you ordered an SEL because your package begins with a 3 and not a 2. And as I recall it was a substantial difference. Perhaps someone who follows this problem more than me will have more to add on the SE vs SEL or just look around the above post and perhaps more. If I were you I would be positively excited about getting your 2014 though if someone can add more to the SE vs SEL info it may allay your fears.
  11. Generallizing, Higher profile means smoother ride. Thinner means better better gas mileage. Overall, that is still a car that will handle well, though not quite as well as the 225/50, versus the Prius which is something like P195/65R15 I personally would prefer tires and wheels that were more like the Prius - so they would be cheaper to replace and get better mileage and have a softer ride. My last vehicle was a heavy mini-van so compared to that I suspect the handling would be fine. In the past, I have replaced tires way before they officially need replacing for they do not handle as well as they wear. I am mostly concerned about handling in rainy conditions.
  12. So while a gas station pump adjusts fuel volume for the temperature of the fuel, the car computer probably doesn't or perhaps approximates it with ambient temp. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070608101130AA79rH6 This kind of says for every 15 degree change in the temperature of the fuel, there is a 1.425 % change in volume. I do know it is substantial for I have experienced getting gas and topping it off just before parking my car in the sun and then coming out later and there is spilled gasoline.
  13. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=177 "New, Full-Treaded Tires Travel Farther per Tire Revolution Than Shallow-Treaded, Worn Tires" "While the 100-mile test distance didn't change, essentially the vehicle's odometer overstated the distance traveled by about 1.5% when equipped with the worn out tires." "New, Full-Treaded Tires Generate More Rolling Resistance Than Shallow-Treaded, Worn Tires" "Tire rolling resistance gradually drops by about 20% during the life of a tire as the tread wears from its original molded depth to worn out. .... drivers should expect to experience a potential 2% to 4% decrease in mpg." (going to new tires) Though it might not be noticeable as measured by the car because the tires are bigger. Maybe someday miles in the car will be measured by GPS - or perhaps a combination, to use traditional measurement until the GPS becomes reliably online.
  14. Sorry I wasn't more specific. What is the source of "The problem is from lack of lubrication while the ICE is off." Did you kind of deduce this since the energi models are not part of SSM 44252 or is there a source of what has been changed.
  15. I would like to know more about why you say this. Can you provide a link to the info ? Thanks
  16. The screw up was the second company arriving with a flat bed which do not have the wheels to put under my front tires after the special request. Not sure where the problems started but the Ford lady looked at the request and it was there. They offered to jump it but the dealer needed the car to arrive in the dead state to do diagnostics. My father used to own a garage and he had a 5 ton tow truck. I have driven it and it isn't the easiest thing with respect too not hitting stuff. I kind of have respect for truck drivers, especially when they back up and need to judge. I was concerned that the guy would be too rough with my new car but he wasn't, though I was right there watching him.
  17. So I got some updated calibration software and a new battery. Getting towed was frustrating. Needed a regular tow truck, not a flat bed because car was stuck in park and front wheels could not be accessed and I didn't want them to drag the car out of the driveway, which the dealer also thought wasn't a good idea. First two trucks were flat beds. Next day regular tow truck came and put wheels under my front wheels. Update: According to the bill, the battery would not hold a charge - so maybe it Was just a dead battery and not some illusive problem. The past couple times I used the car I did notice the motor would start charging right away. I figured it was because of the cold, but maybe it was a bad battery. I am not sure if the Lithium Ion battery was also discharged or the car doesn't use that battery to start if the lead acid battery is dead. They reprogrammed the FCDIM - whatever that is. I did notice myview was changed to something not useful.
  18. Just had my first no start, no electric. Tow truck on way. Dealer will do diagnostics tomorrow. Since I find Microsoft something to avoid, I wonder if the problem is because of SYNC(SE) vs MFT(SEL)
  19. I have something like this at faster speeds, like 30-40. I will have to try it at slower speeds. I kind of was assuming that it was because the roads were so messed up and I was running my tires hard.
  20. Here's one of my favorites that might catalyze a smile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guNcOE4B2uE
  21. I get the same message. I don't think they are permanently cutting us off.

  23. Foreign manufacturers tend to debug there cars on their own population or not the US population so by the time they come here they will get good marks. The CR C-Max review in my opinion was positive. There was an early video where the reviewer, a young woman, said it was not cool looking or somthing like that which I thought was totally wrong. If I wrote the review I would have slammed the entertainment system more than they did, though I haven't seen the competition but compared to using my computer. I have considered Velcroing a tablet to my dash and running Linux for my entertainment system. They got bad marks for reliability because they had some bad stuff in the first model year - battery, entertainment system. And I hope Ford has a good resolution to the transmission problem cab drivers are having. So far Ford seems to be handling things with class.
