  1. It would probably be not cost effective but I wonder what the Sync3 retrofit would involve. Just replacing the display module! Would it involve the PCM and other stuff. Would the wiring harness be different? And of course getting software might be confusing as the website would think you have the older stuff and not download it!
  2. Ford is supposedly working on a "from the ground up" hybrid for 2018. I would expect the CMAX to go away when that model comes out. The crossover segment is big these with many different sizes. The C-MAX may go away but no way will Ford not make a hybrid solution for that size.
  3. My radio stopped working the day before I got my dead battery issue. I was told by Ford service that the car acts like humans and that it focuses on core systems to get you where you need to be first before failing completely by shutting off non-essential things like the radio.
  4. I had a sun roof for a few years. SO glad its gone. I hate the errant sun beam in the eyes and the reflective glare across the various surfaces. Why would I want to increase that. And oh yea more reasons to have to put on sun lotion. I also just had a Melanoma just removed recently from my trucker wrist so to speak. IE left wrist. Clearly from lots of sun driving.
  5. I am in Cupertino with a 1960s 2000 square foot 2car garage single story house. Our house is probably in the 1.8 million range. Of course its been remodeled a bunch. On the other hand 1100 square foot never touched houses are going for 1.1 million. Housing prices are crazy because there is no inventory for sale. There is a lot of high density being built if you like that sort of thing. Even during the down turn houses in the core valley: Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino took virtually no hit.
  6. I also tend to think that the new solution puts Ford on a much better upgrade path as the new hardware will support multiple vendors and remove GUI support from Ford and Microsoft.
  7. SO are the iPhone 5 people screaming because the iPhone 6 gets ApplePay and they dont! That was only a 1 year jump.
  8. We test drove the CT. Its way to tight inside. My wife walked away as fast as she could. I don't understand what market they were they thinking about.
  9. In my case I did not have the dead battery until recently. One major difference in my case is I had an Apple lightning connector plugged in the storage area and I had recently reached in the area while driving for something. The next morning when the car was dead I looked in there and the other end of the lightning cord was resting up against the metal hump of the cigarette lighter base. Was it shorting and draining the battery overnight or was this strictly a coincidence?
  10. I dont believe you. Would you feel the same way about your house? Yea you don't if you dont have to cash out but sometimes you do when you least expect it. Here is where its important: Your in an accident and the insurance company pays it off at market value. You want to trade up.
  11. On the day before the battery failed when the radio was not working, I ran a vehicle health report. It sure seems that at this point the vehicle health report should have some status that the system was shutting down certain components to savor the last few cycles in the battery. In fact I am kind of disappointed in the information in the vehicle health report. Has anybody ever seen anything useful in it?
  12. Do we have a consolidated list on how to be nice to your battery anywhere?
  13. I just got a call saying the battery was dead and they replaced it. He also indicated that systems are designed to shut down less critical systems such as the radio when the battery gets bad. Anybody heard of that?
  14. I had the dead battery thing last week with an additional system. The day before my radio failed to work. I could see the 4 quadrants on the MFT display but I could not turn the radio on from the button or the display even after a master reset. The next morning the battery was dead. The dealer has it now. One thing did notice is I had an iPhone cable plugged into the USB. The other end was loose and laying against the cigarette style plug in the armrest. I am wondering if this could have caused a drain as well as preventing the radio from working. I had pulled out a eyeglass cleaner cloth the day before and this could have the plug move in that position. I am waiting to hear on their diagnosis. The car worked flawlessly for almost two years till this.
  15. While I don't live in Arizona we have some hot days here and my light stone leather has not been a problem. I prefer the leather for easy cleanup. I would not ever go with black.
  16. I have mentioned this before but warm up time makes a big difference. My wife and I both bought the exact same CMAX. She drove 2 miles to work and I drove 15 miles to work. 50/50 freeway/city. My avg mileage is 44.6 and her's is 37.5 This is in SF Bay area weather including the 40 degree winter weather. Enough said!
  17. In my CMAX case I agree with the trunk rating and would add a turning radius complaint but I have had zero reliability issues other than the initial MFT glitches which are gone now. My mileage after 15000 is 44.9 which is half highway and half city so I don't know whats up with people there.
  18. All the same here. It is so tight in front I can't imagine why anybody would seriously consider it EVEN over the various Prius models.
  19. I will never forget when my dad died and we had him cremated and the cremation place wanted us to place their name in the obituary. My response was "You want us to advertise for you?"
  20. The important question left unanswered is will we get replacement badging so we don't have to look at "Powered by Microsoft"/
  21. Or you need to click through multiple menus while driving.
  22. The whole MFT thing came out of Microsoft. I am hoping they start to engage Apple, and Google and others for more creative user interfaces. I don't mind the touch screen but you should be able to get where you want with one click. With discrete controls for HVAC and Radio its one click. With MFT you have to weave through screens to get where you want. The same thing applies to voice commands. That just does not work when your trying to drive. Its as bad as texting and the people who approved this should be sacked.
  23. It sounds like you guys only listen to Music. I listen to the other channels like Doctor Radio / EW Radio / MSNBC / NHL / ... How do you do that through your phone without sucking up your data allowance and have to pay for them if you even can.
  24. My latest trick is to turn on the air by hitting the recirc button instead of the auto or power button.
