  1. After 20 months with my CMax I have mixed feelings. On one hand: - the car probably makes the most sense of all 40+ cars I drove so far - it is a high-tech, high-efficiency car - the more I drive it - the more I like it On the other hand: - I have had enough of dealing with its quirky, buggy SYNC - seating in the CMax for 2+ hours is painful for my left knee (the design of the door armrest is worse than anything on the planet - it almost punctures my knee...) - the interior parts become more and more loose (in my previous car - an Equinox - after 2 years everything was perfectly tight and there were no rattling noises - except for the engine - there was a recall and the service fixed it) What will my next car be? I do not know yet. But - definitely - a car with a driver seat/door_armrest that will not hurt my knee and where there will be no Microsoft labels in sight. I will need a longer test drive - maybe a rental car for a few days?
  2. I was in Columbus, OH 10 days ago. Drove my Ingot Silver all the way from NJ. No Cmax'es spotted but - in turn - saw many more in my area recently.
  3. It happened to me in Dec. 2013. Could not even open the door because there was no blade key inside neither keyfob. Called assistance. They came (in a 19-years-old Subaru) and opened it the hard way (simply: they had to "burglarize" the car). Did not get a single blade key ever since in spite of ordering it twice.
  4. Did I not mention it before? I don't know... It was because of the lease. You are right. The Ford won the case because they will avoid the situation when they would have to label the care as lemon. What they reimbursed covers virtually every lease payment for the car during the 12-month part of the lease. That is cheaper for them than re-purchasing the car + losing on its sale in the future.
  5. @scottwood2: Well, making very long story very short: I began to love the car after about a year. Part of it was that the issues with MFT (which were really impeding the use of the car) were addressed and I can live with the inaccurate navi. I just have returned from Europe where I drove a gas-powered Peugeot 301 1.6 manual, and its fuel consumption, according to the computer as well as my calculations were in mid 6's l/100km (ca. 35MPG). Now after only one week back in my Cmax - I see 39MPG in a hybrid-style (a lot of gliding) driving. The question now is: is hybrid still better for me? The answer is: yes. I drive mostly in NJ and NY suburbs. And here the Cmax shines. In the case of the above mentioned Peugeot - it would be worse. BUT - the price. The equivalent of that pretty basic Peugeot in this country costs less (several thousands less money) and you have to be a committed tree-hugger to be still willing to pay extra money. What will my next car be after the lease is up some time in 2016? As of now I would be leaning towards a regular, small car with a good equipment.
  6. @scottwood2: Yes. I do still drive the car and the problems have been addressed by the dealership. As of now - there is only one major thing - the navi is not working as it should (same problems but overlapping with fewer if any other problems - before it was the MFT+navi, now it is navi only). Since I moved to another location it is much harder for me to drive to the dealership again and again (now it is ca. 1 hour drive one-way). Will ask them to look at the problem during the next scheduled service. @salman: Yes, no, yes and no. The part of the deal was not to reveal any details. The car is drivable and (according to the FoMoCo - safe to drive). This was the reason they did not buy it back - according to the lawyer.
  7. After a little over 10 months my case was finalized under the NJ Lemon Law. No BBB involved. Just a regular LL attorney who advertized their service right at the time when I was ignored by the Ford's reps. As a foreigner I could not find the better way than that to hand the case over to the experienced law firm. They (Ford) agreed to pay the entire sum covering over 12 trips to the service, many days taken off due to the lack of transportation etc. My preferred way to have the case settled would be to make Ford re-purchase the car from me. The monetary settlement is fair (as far as I am concerned and my personal loss is concerned; no profit just expenses reimbursed).
  8. Wind noise? It is terrible. Much louder than in the 2006 Impala I drove in the past and about which the testers were complaining. In my 'Max it is loud from as little as ~50mph... What about the cross winds? It is really challenging to drive C-Max on a windy day/night...
  9. Note II and Note 3. Both working without hiccups.
  10. Plus 3 Golfer, The A/C was working fine until they reprogrammed the system with that recall (EV mode up to 82mph, grill shutters and other stuff). Then it became just satisfactory/needing-improvement. I will check on that as soon as the temperature goes above 70 F (maybe tomorrow).
  11. Today is the 365th day since I picked up my Ford (leased on 4/30/2013, for 36 months, 45k miles). So far I have put on her a little over 12,200 miles. Apart from 13 visits to the dealership (blah, blah, blah - the 1st one after only 350 miles, almost all of them were gps_and_audio_system-related) - I DO LOVE THE CAR. It failed only a few times, I called the assistance only one time (dead battery blah, blah, blah). Otherwise - the car is just awesome. First of all - it looks, ekhem, handsome. Secondly - it is really comfortable, spacious, cleverly-thought-thru Thirdly - fuel efficiency is a valued thing for me - and the car delivers! (apart from one period after one update - it drastically dropped, but they sorted it out after a few weeks) (at the moment after the major update back in October - it is 39.2 mpg, usually I finish my longer trips at ~40 mpg) Fourthly - I know I will spend with her only up to two more years... leasing S**KS If they fixed all the issues the car would be just perfect. PS: After 11 months I was able to find a seating position comfortable enough for me so my limbs are no longer going numb (left leg in particular)! PS2: Can't wait until the May/June road trip (NJ-NF*-HM**-GB***-DC-NJ) * - Niagara Falls ** - Hershey Antic Cars Museum *** - Gettysburg Or maybe Florida??? Who knows? PS3: What do you think, will FMC come up with the more aggressive A/C setup for the summer? It used to be freezing-cool-effective - now it is more EU-style (nearly non-existent)
  12. Hi Rebecca. I did it already it did not work and that was the reason I asked the question on the Forum... I'm sending a PM.
  13. On my way back home from the dealership last Wednesday (that was the 13th visit in the service; the APIM was replaced) I found out, that: - the only available route is the shortest one - I cannot change any settings (route, navigation, traffic) - they remain stuck in some random setup - the screen brightness adjustment setting is gone/working_weird Did any of you have such experience?
  14. In my case I am the only driver of my CMax and I am the only person in the car at 99% times. I thought I was too heavy (~250lbs) for the seat. It became squeaky, moves a little. Today I have dropped the car at the dealership (I think it is the 13th time in 11 months) and left the car overnight (got a sweet 2010 Fusion). Tomorrow in the morning I am going to call them to have the thing looked into.
  15. Loew's AMC theater in Elizabeth, NJ. Parked right next to a black PA-registered CMax.
  16. Today: - Silver Ingot SEL on NJ-46 West (NJ plates) - SEL on I-78 East (MA plates) - the color was strange - off-silver/green A week ago in CT: - Silver Ingot SEL near Norwich, CT (CT plates) And besides - many times: - Silver Ingot SE in Carlstadt, NJ (NJ plates) - White Platinum Energy SEL in Elizabeth (PA plates)
  17. So it happened again. The navigation was indicating my position like 1.5 miles away... It lasted for almost 5 minutes. The appointment is already scheduled. Have little-to-no patience. :play:
  18. It took many trips to dealership to have the issue (partially) fixed. At the very end of the day - they just went for a "big time" reset, (I think) got rid of all the c...ppy code and now the thing is working (partially) well - it became slow, sluggish (even with the Phonebook Sync off) however accurate to an extent.
  19. When I called the Ford Rep. - they told me that although I was leasing the car - they would not have anything to do/say/address since the car was leased. They told me to basically forget about a chance of getting any resolution with Ford or with "my" dealer. That is why I filed a Lemon Law case. It was an extremely disappointing experience. The leasing company would not answer neither...
  20. Speaking with an accent (Polish) getting ~95% hits. Missed ~5% only when some noise in the background (seatbelt, reverse-to-drive drive shift etc.) Guys, maybe it is good to have a foreign accent? ;)
  21. Feathering the throttle, driving 70% on a highway - getting ~38MPG now. Temperatures between 24 and 55 F. One passenger. No junk in the trunk.
  22. My Contacts List on my phone is constantly updated. If I turn it off - how can I access the newly added contacts?
  23. Did you ever experience, that if something goes wrong with your Sync (like frozen part of the system: either the radio or navi or something else) - it is good to remember who designed the system? Just like in old MS Windows-powered PC's - if something goes wrong just press the reset or (if it is possible) - restart everything? Today again I was able to revive the malfunctioning SYNC by turning the car off and opening - then - closing the door and turning the car again. They should rather install a "reset"/"reboot" button. Hardware button.
  24. Last Wednesday I picked my C-Max again. They put a note on an invoice that stated there was an error in the memory. In the beginning it was very precise. Then - on Friday - it got lost again. And they never replaced my GPS thing - only the antenna although they before they had said they had replaced the GPS system. Want to schedule the 12th appointment. I have bought a small basket to keep the work orders and the invoices. BTW: It was cold before - the MPG was about 25-30. Now it is cold again - I can easily average 35 MPG. But really easily.
