  1. The temperature outside is in steady upper-30's... The mileage inside is in steady 20's. What is going on?
  2. Something strange happened again... Before I picked up the 'Max from the dealership (gps module replaced) I was achieving 40-46 MPG with ease. The temperatures were anywhere from 20 to 50 F. Now it is driving like after the initial "mileage" recall ("no-power" and "unable-to-maintain-EV-mode" issues). And now the MPG dropped drastically down to low 30's... The temperatures from 30 to almost 70 F. At this time I have no idea what happened again. They performed the tire rotation and left the tires with 30 PSI only. I re-inflated them to 38 PSI (as the sticker on the door jamb says). The temperature inside is set to 70 F (no A/C) and the heated seats are used only in the mornings for 1-2 minutes. Anybody experienced similar problem?
  3. it happened on Hamilton Pkwy in Brooklyn. It was a sunny day. It began on Goethals Bridge with a system crash. Then two failed calculations. Then off-route location indication mentioned earlier. The sequence was like this: 1. Driving on Goethals Bridge. Voice button and Navigation Voice command 2. crash 3. quick recovery - then voice command again 4. voice - find a street address 5. ok 6. on i278 it showed a turn that made no sense 7. i did continue on I287 8. instead of calculating new route it displayed Route Calculation Failed 9. I clicked Nav amd then Previous destinations 10. I retrieved the last entry 11. clicked it and then it failed again 12. steps 9 and 10 again 13. now it accepted the destination 14. it guided me thru upper level of the V'zano Bridge 15. I knew I had to take exit 18 16. then the location separated from actual position and it got lost completely until like 2 blocks before the right turn. But I already pulled over and took out my phone and set the destination on Google Maps which guided me to the end. The bldgs in that section of Brooklyn aren't tall. In the Bay Ridge and Boro Park sections of Brooklyn there are no skyscrapers and the trees are not covering the sky.
  4. Of course I can understand that the electronic devices can fail. But in my case they just replaced the gps ("subsystem"?) and the XM/gps antenna... Nobody bothered performing any tests (between car drop/pick-up there was less than a mile difference)... What IS annoying is that the navigation was a must-have for me and its Ford's mindset look just perfect. Just the performance is far from a state of usability. Simple thing. Some time in 2016 I will surrender the car and probably then, at that future time there will be new fancy solutions. Will I take another Ford? Well - not with the Microsoft badge anywhere in a distance of 10 miles. PS: Mine was built on 1/17/2013 - it was Thursday...
  5. All right. Today I drove to Brooklyn, NY. First - the navigation crashed twice. Then - the calculation failed. And then it returned to its previous abnormal behavior - indicated as if my position was a few blocks away from my actual location. I had to take out my smartphone, type in the address and get guidance from Google.
  6. Yes. The buildings. But also the right half of the screen when driving thru highway intersections - the overpasses are so realistic or maybe it is just a coincidence...
  7. So after ~50 miles of intersections, turns and u-turns - I have to admit - that the GPS issue is gone. Now only the thing with intermittent MFT freezes. And btw - the driver's seat became wobbly (like all of a sudden). Why there has to be always something? Is the car cursed or what?
  8. So yesterday I picked up my C-Max from the dealership again. The GPS module was replaced and the XM Sat Aerial was replaced too. And as of now it is working very precisely, like NEVER BEFORE. I am simply stunned! I have never paid attention to the "3D" graphics on the screen. Now I can see as if somebody took pictures of the intersections and put them in the system. WOW. So nice, so precise, so clever. In a minute I will be leaving for ~50 miles trip. I will see how the stuff will work. 7 months and 10 or 11 visits at the dealership later and the car is becoming normal.
  9. flatbat, good luck. I will have my car inspected soon. Ford gave up the repairs. The dealer says the part did not arrive. My lemon law attorneyy is telling me to sit tight and wait. "Keeping fingers crossed" and avoiding driving the car that turned out to be unreliable.
  10. PM Rush Drive today: And this is ~170 miles after refill.
  11. Pulling back in reverse, wanting to stop the car but the brakes failed. Thank God I was pulling back really slow. And the handbrake worked wonders. I had like 1000 miles on the Cmax at the time. There was a car behind me.
  12. In my case - I too contacted the Ford Cust. Service. They said that because my car was leased - I would have to turn to my leasing company. Then I decided to hire an attorney. Just did not want all the misunderstandings due to the language barrier. That was the reason. Funny thing - back in Europe my company purchased a brand new Ford Focus C-max 1st Gen. 1.6TDCi. The car was towed to the dealership 3 times in the 1st year (brakes, turbo, electric). And at that time I promised myself to never go for Ford and never for C-max in particular. Now I know I had good intuition at that time in 2005.
  13. Filed. Waiting. Attorney. 4 weeks now. One "conference call". Still sitting tight.
  14. 6k miles. 6 months. 9 extra visits. 10th one scheduled. The GPS module is on the way. Dead battery - once. No sound - once. Manufacturer is asking about the alterations like tinted windows or replaced tires or aftermarket electronic accessories. AVG MPG up to 41.9 (after the mileage update recalls and reset). No eco-driving. Cannot do it because the drivers in NJ are not aware of speed limits. I am counting days from one visit to another. Looking like a fool at a dealership. Calm. Yet frustrated. Cooperating. Waiting patiently for the resolution. Counting weeks and maybe months. Otherwise the car is PERFECT. I am not sarcastic. Except for three major issues the car is just perfect (not only for me). BTW: I just paid my 1st ticket ever - "No-Turn-On-Red" - Red-light camera and I am $85 poorer. I was late 1.5 second.
  15. Since the BIG RESET (dead battery) - I have noticed a few changes. The GPS has been a little more accurate, the MFT became more sluggish, the car was a little more "loose" (less peppiness), BUT the MPG went up a little bit. It is slightly easier now to keep up to the Ford's initially promised 47MPG. I hit almost 46 on a NJ Turnpike today (I95). No pics taken, though. It is now pretty easy to maintain MPG at low ~50's in a city driving. I do not know - either the ICE break-in process is accomplished, or they uploaded some further updates or the "hard reset" worked well like an usual Micro$oft-related problem solution - "If system gets sluggish - do the hard reset by turning the stuff off and on".
  16. What is the procedure for that? Is it in the manual? Is it related to "Re-learning the bounce-back procedure"?
  17. Welcome to the BATTERY DEAD club. On top of all the MFT/navi/BT/Sound problems - today while being 24/7 on-call - the battery is dead. Calling Ford 24/7 Assistance. Update: the assistance sent a guy in '98 Legacy. He opened the door (in my keyfobs there were no blade "key". He opened the door, jumpstarted the car and drove off. I hot in the car and there was the yellow wrench on the gauge. Then I automatically pressed the audio button and Shazam! the sound is back. Now the auto-windows-up feature is not functioning. What will be next???
  18. They are trying. I am trying. We are striving for peaceful resolution. They are maybe more frustrated than I. They apparently opened the ticket with Ford.
  19. Last Friday (10/11) I waited outside for somebody. I stayed in the car for like 30 minutes. The engine was shut off. Few minutes after shut off the "engine" - the radio turned off automatically (this is normal). But later on, like 10 minutes later, the CD (I guess) player buzzed as if it was changing the tracks, then there were quiet "cliks" and other noises every 10-15 seconds for around 2 minutes. Then some "puffs" and "whizzes" from behind the cockpit. The car was apparently ALIVE! Is it normal? The thing surprised me and at that time I thought that it was kinda normal for a high-tech car. BUT - is it normal?
  20. Radio won't turn on - in my case. I have a fancy Sony stuff.
  21. How really happy I am today. I can drive a car! But... no navi, no sound, no bluetooth, no voice recognition, no radio. The system went literally dead, but I do really appreciate it. It is so quiet now, so tranquil, so peaceful. I do love my partially working car. I figured out it is really nice to have a car with the best possible feature - I can finally listen to the car itself. Now more seriously: it all died. I cannot turn it on. There is no sound. No voice recognition, no guidance. The phone is paired and re-paired after the master reset. Have everything recorded for some future proceedings. On top of all that - the mileage dropped! I was driving as usual and after turning the car off it showed only 36 MPG!!! Why... Come on. Yesterday on my way back home I already noticed that the car was less powerful, less agile, more whining, more "loose". Should I go there again? 9th time in 4.5 months?
