  1. I read the Rav4 Hybrid was based off the Lesus 300 NX Hybrid platform
  2. This is the article that says it will be a Toyota Camry killer: http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-toyota-rav4-hybrid-first-drive-review/?sm_id=social_aumomotortrendhub_MotorTrend_20151208_56105536&adbid=674260173037309952&adbpl=tw&adbpr=25383000
  3. Yeah Steve I agree on all points really surprising Sure they made this car to beat the Honda CRV and similar competitors and it probably will, but compared to a CMax which is a different kind of car/clas but still some of us out there are on the fence of an "inbetween" car and a mix between a car and a SUV/CUV and like the benefits of both and need to merge the best of both worlds of high mileage and some extra space and higher up sitting cabin not an easy task but Im glad they have this option for some. Really hope they can improve it even more in a few years and get better mpg to make it an easier sell and add real leather as that is just a sin.
  4. Instead of test driving a 2016 CMax at your own dealer go to another dealer who doesnt know you and test drive one like a new buyer (drive there in a non Cmax car if you can or park out of sight so they dont see your own car when you pull up) so that you wont get a biased response. Once purchased, many dealers just laugh and dont want to deal with you and say "its normal". . best to always get a 2nd opinion on a different car on another dealers lot. i know the CMax has an active noise cancelling system in the speakers/radio and a LOT of sound deadening material in the doors (unlike the lack of such in the cheap prius) so any outside noise should be minimized even morre on this car compared to others, so if you hear a noise its not/shouldnt be normal. any pedestrian warning noise would only be heard by those OUTSIDE the car not inside the car. let us know what you find out but I have a feeling its not normal be sure to post it on the ntsb site as a possible defect/problem so there is a record and history in case others have this issue
  5. I do wish Ford still made the Escape Hybrid, It would be the perfect size for my wifes SUV/CUV size liking and still get decent mpgs like the CMax PTjones - the Highlander Hybrid is a much larger.heavier vehicle so I can see why it would only get 28 mpg. I was hoping the Rav4 Hybrid would do much better than 33 combines but adding the AWD and the heavier old tech hybrid in there and the spare tire and the higher not as aerodynamic and the air dragging roof rails all dont help you get better MPGs Also any 1st generation/iteration car is to be avoided as all the bugs still need to be worked out so thats another concern on the 2016 Rav4 Hybrid
  6. I think you are correct raadsel. I womder where they are keeping all those cars from their dealers if they cant show off or test drive or sell them legally?
  7. thanks for checking out the Rav4 Hybrid ptjones. I cant go to a dealer anytime soon due to a medical issue Im dealing with now. Glad to hear you were able to find out the scoop on it. I was worried about that. Actually not really since I know nothing can compare to the CMax but in my wifes eyes nothing beats a Toyota. Im not the one who thinks the CMax doesnt look cool. Also can we verify the new Rav4 Hybrid is using the OLD technology Hybrid battery design and not the new LiOn tech in the new Prius desins. Toyota was using the old batteries forever and just recently updated their techg where as Ford was using the new tech for many years now, If that is the case no use paying for outdated tech in a brand new car. Yeah its amazing they rip you off with no real leather not even in the top of the line trim level and force you to get the Limited to get power seats. Come on. everyone has power seats these days even in cars that only cost $20-25k. never mind a $30-35k CUV I do like all the advance safety features that are in the Rav4 Hybrid that the CMax doesnt, but should have, like: Lane Departure Warning, Street Pedestrian radar detection and brake stopping Forward Collision brake assist 360 panoramic camera view to help with parking Rav4 also offers a real moonroof you can open / tile up. the cmax only has a closed system or a $3k expensice pano roof option you cant crack open to let the hot air out or keep the car cooler on hot days of course the CMax has many things the Rav4 doesnt have like - Kick to open liftgate (rav4 only has button push to open/close) - Self parking feature in the 303a SEL package (which is what we would get when the time comes to get the CMax) - real leather seats But from the early Fuelly reports the Rav4 seems to be struggling just to meet the MPG ratings whereas many here can meet and easily beat the MPG ratings, esp if the gages help you have fun while playing the MPG wars game :) we shall see
  8. WOW since Ive been gone we had a few here make it to the 700, 800 and 900 mile club!! When I was last here we had the max at 600 I believe. Sheesh you guys and gals are AMAZING!!! keep it up'
  9. Im sure your not liking the whole scam VW was involved in with the diesel mileage and smog issue. So glad i didnt need/want the diesel. I read an article this week they were given a deadline of this November to come up with a fix./solution. Its going to probably take years to services all those that will have to be recalled and fixed in the dealerships for free. I might not even be possible without a major change to the engine. Doubt its only software fixable. we will see..... I do notice they have only had commercials on their non diesel models of Passat as of late. No mention of the diesels at all since the scandal broke, Probably were banned from advertising until the fix is done
  10. Hello Jus-tin. Great to see you are still here. We dont drive in the snow/dont ski, so we really dont need the AWD on the Rav4. Her current SUV is just for show and not bought for actual truck/towing needs. I agree the CMax has a huge window which is great for visibility. the only drawback to that is that it lets in more heat inside the cabin which means more use of the A/C in the summer to keep it cool leading to lower MPGs. Im going to get all the specs for each and put them side by side on a spread sheet and do the comparisons to see which wins for each category and then rank them for her priority needs/must haves/nice to have features to determine the best "on paper" car for her but the actual test drives will be what seals it for sure. Hard to believe its been so many years trying to get this darn car for her but with both of us in and out of job in the past 4 years and ne having major health issues, its pushed the plans back each time we thougth we were ready to pull the trigger. I guess we have been lucky to have not bought it at the wrong time as having 2 car payments and a mortgage without dual incomes would be very hard. Praying for better times in the coming months/years. Glad her Toyota has still been able to keep going. Its about 165,000 milles now. Usually 200 - 250k is about what they can last if well maintained Ive heard. She has always kept hers in great condition,
  11. Very cool. I dont agree the CMax is nicer to drive than my 2012 Passet SEL Premium, but I could be a little biased :) Love my Passat and its huge back seats and trunk. but wish they had a hybrid version, if they did Id get that in an instant. Averaging about 26 mpg currently which is on par with its 21/31 rating for city/hwy I do agree the CMax is in another class all by itself. I dont think the Prius should even be on that list its a tin can noisy box compared to the CMax
  12. How about the new 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Offers larger CUV style cabin, lots of updated new high tech safety features not offered on the CMAX, AWD, long Toyota history with hybrid technology. Negatives are No real leather seats option even in best LIMITED package, more expensive (about $4k) than the CMAX if equipped equally (XLE and Limited packaged vs SEL CMax), and only in the 30s for MPG (34 city/31 hwy) instead of 40-50 MPG with the CMAX if driven correctly. But for someone who doesnt want the bigger Highlander Hybrid and doesnt like the look of the CMAX this is now a viable option. Some articles even said the new RAV4 Hybrid would be a Camry Hynrid killer and is going to sell like hotcakes. Here are a few articles: http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-toyota-rav4-hybrid-first-drive-review/ http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/rav4-hybrid/2016/suv/review/#leaderboard-reviews-2-anchor Obviouslyt the CMAx would have a nicer european interior and fit/finish a little better. Anyone test drive one of these yet? My wife and I will have to check it out and see if its a viable alternative for our CMAX as 1st choice for her next car, a hyrbid
  13. Very very sorry to hear you have had these issues. There is definitely problems with this car (misalignment and water leaks.) its sad to hear of the bad customer service you had received. That is not acceptable at all. I would think Ford better is better than that. Its sad when customers have to roll the dice and hope their dealer is a good one and not one of the few bad apples out there. I wish you all the best of luck in resolving your issue and hope your life gets less stressful. Sorry to hear about your home. Your anger is understandable
  14. Hey all. its been FOREVER since Ive been here. Sorry been focused on reading the photography forums lately and looking for work again after leaving my company back in April 2015. Still looking..... So the plan to get my wife's CMAX Hybrd still waits until we are both employed and making money. Her 1999 Toyota 4Runner is still going but had some issues lately that needed to be fxed She is still averaging around 16-17 mpg and really needs a hybrid now that she is driving about 25 miles to downtown LA in bad traffic both ways. But, now that the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is out, this is something we might have to consider as an alternate option to the CMax As I explained before she really loves Toyota and doesnt think the Ford brands is as good/reliable I checked out the reviews and pix on the RAV4 Hybrid and it does look promising only thing is to match the CMAX SEL in features we'd have to deck it out to the full LIMITED package and that would be much more expensive than the CMAX ($36k vs $32K) and the CMAX of course gets a lot better mpg ratings and can even beat the averages if driven correctly. also the RAV4 Hybrid only has fake leather even at the top best package ! hard to believe but the RAV4 does have a LOT of great safety features that are brand new/high tech that the CMAX does have so.... her priority is MPG and reliability of course. Wish the RAV4 didnt have the roof rails as that cuts down on the MPG and it also has AWD which we dont need here in So. Cal and that adds weight which also kills the MPG numbers We will fo course need to test drive it and see it in person but its a possible choice now that its out what do you guys think? anyone else here thinking of the RAV4 Hyrbid instead of the CMax to get a little larger CUV and Space and longer Toyota history on Hybrid tech?
  15. I am very upset they got rid of Sterling Gray as it would allowed my wife to get her new CMax (whenever that finally happens this year) in a color that is almost the exact same Gray as my 2012 VW Passat SEL so that we would have matching car colors in our house. Oh well. Hope the replacement color will be acceptable for us. Funny how they get rid of the most popular color instead of the least popular (oppositr of logic).
  16. You should have requested they also pay you the difference in gas/fuel costs between the CMax and much less mpg Explorer (not a hybrid) over the lifetime you would have had the CMax. enjoy life without the 12v problems
  17. Unfortunately, that's probably why it IS stated in the manual...so the owners use that BNN process instead of direct with Ford, which stalls the process and helps the manufactures, not the consumer, as it seems to be the case based on results posted here.
  18. That argument about short /city driving to recharge is bogus. Where does it say that in the manual?most folks who buy hybrid are doing it because they don't want to waste as much gas as if they had a normal car that didn't shut off at stops or regen-brake. Gas and diesel cars are meant for long trips. If this was true FORD could be sued for false advertising and they would have to have a hand out/manual page in each car explaining this "issue/limitation" and would have to have each dealer train the buyer upon initial delivery and brand new car feature training lessons for the owner.
  19. No kidding. I always am honest. Trust me I want my wife sms I to join the club officially. I have to be the longest member that DOESNT own a CMax for sure. And it won't even be my car it will be my wife's. Go figure....praying for only good news and luck for us this year to help make it happen
  20. Agreed. Wish they didn't do away with the Escape Hybrid. Would be a perfect car/SUV size flee my wife. She rode in one of her co-workers and loved it. More normal looking than the cmax which takes some getting used to.
  21. Yup always better to get a higher level package/car and enjoy the extra features instead of regretting not having something later on.Better package also means higher resale/higher interest when/if you want to sell it.
  22. That's why you get the package that has the auto park feature. ;)
  23. Roninsd just might be the winner here. 2 weeks ago my wife just started her new job after being out of work for a while now, so see are finally getting closer to seeing this LONG time goal come to fruition. Once she gets back on track and saves up and build up her accounts again after being out of work for so long. As a good omen....we spotted 3 CMaxs on the road yesterday on a trip and 4 If you count the one we saw on Shark Tank. Now the question is...Will it be a 2015 or if they plan to major redo thecmax for 2016 model? I've been off this site for a long time since the chance of getting the cmax was not looking good this past year so I'm way out of touch on what all had taken place in the cmax world. My wife still isn't sold on owning a "lowly FORD" product after owning her Toyota SUV for so long but I keep telling not sure what else gives so great bang for your buck with an SUV-like up high seating and great mpg in a hybrid and European inside styling. She REALLY needs a hybrid now that she has a bumper to bumper drive into downtown L.A. now. Would love to get her a VW Toureg for the Audi like styling but to expensive and not as good mileage. Toyota RAV4 looks terrible now after the redesign.
  24. The most recent episode (2/20/15) of Shark Tank (ABC) had one of their stories showing an opening video back story with a yellow CMax hybrid SEL. The cofounders of "keenhome" are shown getting into and then driVing off thru riving the sreets of New York City. Be sure to check out the website to watch past episodes. Our was the third story shown on that episode with 2 college guys (one wearing a hot link polo shirt on the right of a guy wearing a red and blue long sleeve shirt) telling their company story in the beginning of the back story about 31 mins in after one of the commercial breaks. On watch Season 6 Episode 19 online here: http://abc.go.com/shows/shark-tank/episode-guide/season-06/619-week-19-luminaid-taaluma-totes-keen-home-scholly
  25. JUS All I can say is.. YOU DA MAN! So incredible but any of us not believe if it could be done, it would be JUS who could do it? Nope. He (and this incredible car) keeps blowing our minds. He should be hired by Ford as a consultant or liaison or something! SImply amazing Keep it up but most importantly...keep loving your ride and all those dirt cheap miles driving around beautiful So. Ca. I SO want to shake your hand my friend One day.... :worship: All hail mighty CMAX King :worship: ALL HAIL JUS :worship: :yahoo: :victory:
