Breaking news...the glass ceiling has been broken, 901 miles tank.
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
I would suggest he posts his elevation change map and route info from the "My Tracks" app or similar so you all can understand the "perfect" route that it takes to be able to do such a feet (flat and rolling hills and all city no fwy) -
Well they finally put out the commercial for the C-Max that they should have done from the very beginning to show off the nice interior and not try and put down the Prius but instead focus on the features and how far it can go. C-Max in the Dessert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuRmyCqSMSI Your thoughts on how it stacks up to previous C-Max commercials?

Agreed Companies don't spend much R&D money on an old antiquated feature (keys) that won't get them to get kudos/higher feedback or satisfaction scores back from their costumers since most want keyless nowadays.

I'm sure there's are legal and licencing reasons for this. also since there are about 20 different main types of smart phones and companies of varying ages and all work differently with different apps it would be a nightmare to try and code something that works with EVERYTHING. And while most do own smartphones, not everyone wants one and in your scenario those who buy a car won't get the benefits of a new car without nav unless the had a smartphone and would be pretty pissed off that a $30k+ car lacked a basic feature on all new cars. It's a touchy subject but yes the car systems will always be outdated and it makes sense since cars take 5-7 years to develop and get to manufacturing so the tech in your current car brand new off the lot was already outdated 1-2 years ago as that was when they probably finalized all the designed and froze the supplier list for all the parts being used. Even the Garmin $129 GPS is better at nav than Ford. It just doesn't have all the other things like HD Radio or other stuff.

Just saw this on the CNN ticker under the main TV story. Said oh no. Glad my wife who will be getting a CMax eventually didn't see it. Glad they (Ford) are taking a quick response to solve it. Defects and issues happen all the time when it comes to humans and manufacturing (Ive beem a quality engineer for manufacturing companies my whole career of 25+ years) . It's never easy but with everything serialized and traceable back to the raw materials level in the automotive industry they will make sure to get every last one of the bad parts replaced in time.

Congrats and welcome to the CMax club. Many happy miles and years with your new baby

A5 Nav Card now available
salsaguy replied to JohnTrigger's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Looks like the Ford maps on the nav are by telenav so I found this info on the web on how to notify them of bad data: www.telenav.com "Telenav provides three navigation products — beamed-in (SYNC Services), brought-in (Ford SYNC AppLink) and built-in (MyFord Ford Touch) — to Ford Motor Company. The collaboration between Ford and Telenav delivers high-quality, user-friendly experiences that are touted by technologists and consumers alike." here is the contact info for them: "There are various methods of notifying TeleNav about mapping changes. First and foremost you may call our 24hr customer care at (888)-353-6284 and inform anyone of our representatives about the mapping change in your area. Secondly you may also email our customer care at care@telenav.com with the mapping information. All emails are read and reviewed daily, and lastly you may also post within our online community, which is closely monitored by our online community management team." Looking at their site they also provide the maps for the highly rated QNX based nav/infotainment system that is in the Audi's and supposedly coming in the next gen C-Maxes (2015/2016?) -

Was your new Cmax newly built fresh from factory or is it just being delivered from another dealers lot and was built a while ago? did you go on the etis site already to see the window sticker to see the build date? -

Anyone use a 128GB USB drive in their C-Max?
salsaguy replied to Kelleytoons's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Highly suggest using one of these LOW profile USB sticks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00812F7O8/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER they have it in up to 64 gb maybe u can find another version in 128 i checked but couldnt find any in USB 3.0 to help on the download speed from the PC to the stick -
Definitely get the magnetic ones so you can experiment around with the placement and take them off sometime if you want to stop the testing or dont find them useful and want to donate the to someone here :) yes easier to steal but one day you will want to sell the car maybe and the next owner wont want them

Now THAT is CMax hospitality folks. only on this forum....you guys rock such a warm bunch here so nice and friendly compared to most forums on the net would be cool for sure if you could make it happen and let him drive your cmax just to see what kind of numbers he could get out of it just to prove a point :)

The C-Max Bar - The Best Place to Greet & Talk
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I agree they are backwards. They are missing out on a lot of sales. -
Looks like Ford is trying to better educate their potential consumer buyers by adding more education about hybrid tech on their website Shows the differences between the Electric, Plug-In Hybrid and All electric vehicles and why you would need one or the other This is definitely a step in the right direction: I'm sure many here and not on this forum should have read this info first before buying the car they did. (If all things were and if the plug-in didnt have the huge hump in the back to take up all the space, of course) ;) The info on why you may get better/worse mpgs is also an important slide for consumers to understand Check it out: http://social.ford.com/infographics/ http://social.ford.com/c-max-infographic/?id=0 http://social.ford.com/c-max-infographic/?id=1 http://social.ford.com/c-max-infographic/?id=2 http://social.ford.com/c-max-infographic/?id=3 there is also a download link at the bottom of each of these pages so if you wanted to print them out and keep them Great stuff Ford they should have done all this BEFORE the launch of the C-Max and Fusion hybrid and Energi's and had these available at the dealerships to give to the customers

Now this is more like it A new series of Ford commercials. I just saw this while watching this weeks Pawn Stars episode on the history channel. Features a bunch of different models including the C-Max and Fusion very cool power slide in the C-Max at timestamp 1:30 or so. Check it out and let us know what you think Entire one featuring ALL the cars. About 2 mins in length: http://youtu.be/4LgxNU8egjI C-Max one about 30 seconds in length: http://youtu.be/AlFWP7TaaG8 Behind the Scenes 12 min video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtsA2n8q0H4

My post was intended to just point out the fact that the Cmax dead battery has only stranded the customer but has not killed any of them. Big difference.
-
Hope you can figure out the controls and yes there are plenty of folks here to help you out with that. Armrests add pretty important so hope you get that squared away. I haven't had enough time in a cmax to comment on that. I know I liked the armrest on my older Passat that got totaled more than the armrest on my current Passat, so up can relate. Good luck and enjoy being differnet from the masses of Prii owners out there. Dare to be different.

Kelly so glad to hear your negative views of the prius-uck I agree it's a tin can that can't get out of its own way. If real consumers did a side by side back to back drive test it would be a no brainer and the cmax would outsell all the time. I don't know why Ford doesn't do more of those test to the public. Or show cmax commercials that really showed how they differ where it really matters. Your personal experience is worth millions.

Congrats welcome enjoy. Be sure to sign up at fuelly.com to track your mpgs and share your results. Also read the Jus-a-cmax guide on how to achieve the best mpgs. Scroll down all the way to the bottom of the main page here to find the most liked post link and it's in there

Just buy Jusacmax a plane ticket to Florida and there you go he will train (whip her into submission) her how to drive it properly but the issue is if she had a Durango as the previous car those bad habits won't be easy to change/break. Not gonna happen. It's not an suv bit she drives like it is. Even with the incentive to save money she doesn't care to want to learn. It's a lost cause.
-
Great idea. It's the Apple model that they offer you coaching/training when you buy a new iMac computer and its tor 1st time with a Mac. Make sense. Sadly yes some dealers are lost when it comes to techie stuff. Some would make it worse and scare the customers away from the car instead of make them exited about the car and what it's capable of. all votes are in...jus-a-cmax and ptjones for Ford Cmax master" train the trainer " gurus for sure

If Ford had set up the car and correct screens(as per owners here on the forums) as default to help owners understand and MAX-imize (it's called a c-MAX not a c-MIN after all right??) their mpegs and this ownership experience then there would be alot less disgruntled customers and negative reports. Folks who design the screens and menus need to talk to the folks who know hybrid tech all they are on the same path and help the user focus on mpgs the hybrid way. Of course most just want to push the button and drive and don't care but they assume it's automatic to get good mpg without driving properly (not crazy) The spread of mpg data proves there are hybrid folks and non hybrid driving folks And yes dealers need to better educate customer on the car/tech, not the other way around. As for those talking about low mpgs on short trips, yes absolutely unless the car is warmed up fully for at least 7-10 miles or 15 mins you will never see good mpgs. Add a/c use to a cold start and short trip...you're asking for trouble. The Energi was meant for short commutes, not the hybrid. Someone bought the wrong car if you thought you can get good mpg just driving 4 miles to work with a hybrid, since it uses gas engine in the beginning to get it warmed up. :( Try opening the window instead of a/c for a few trips to compare mpgs and you'll see it climb higher.
-
Fouts, thanks for the honest reply. Seems the Energi can cramp folks style a bit on the space with that hump when you do need to lug a lot more around. For some it's a deal breaker for sure esp if they don't have a 2nd car or larger car option (most likely they sold out for the better mpg cmax). I agree I wish the cmax hybrid had the app available for them as that is very cool what you can do with it. Yes it does seem your driving pattern is well suited for the energi. Keep us updated on how it all goes. Enjoy not using a drop of gas. Mother earth also says thanks ;)
