Bill-N
This from OASIS recently: May 29 2014 4984 -2013-2014 C-MAX - Frozen Or Delayed Update Of Radio Station Display Some 2013-2014 C-MAX vehicles may exhibit an intermittent concern while changing radio stations. The station changes but the screen display does not reflect the station change. The screen may eventually display the correct frequency or channel after a few minute delay. This may occur on FM, AM bands and/or Sirius channels. To correct the condition reprogram the Audio Control Module (ACM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 90.04 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. For warranty claiming use causal part 19C107, and use the applicable 12651D labor operations in Section 10 of the SLTS Manual for the vehicle. DaveofDurham
Thanks. We are going to try to get this done tomorrow along with the seat back weld inspection, side airbag reprogramming and our annual NC vehicle and emission inspection. DaveofDurham
Had our car at the dealer's shop all day today and the radio display fix proved to be difficult. They had several consultations with corporate which did not yield a fix yet. They will try again tomorrow morning. Has anyone had this fixed on their car? DaveofDurham
Possible fix: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3917-2013-2014-c-max-focus-and-fiesta-several-radio-issues/Bill-N Thanks. The instructions in the first post on this thread and in the "2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and Fiesta - Several Radio Issues" thread are the same. Unfortunately, at least for my C-Max, the fix is apparently not as easy as these instructions make it sound. My dealer has had the car for two days and the tech has been spending a lot of time consulting with corporate. At the end of the day yesterday I told them I needed the car back at noon today. When I went by at noon I saw it was still inside being worked on. The service advisor went into the shop to see what was going on. When he came back he said they were still working on it and that he would give me a loaner. So while they work this out, we are driving a black Fiesta. Ironic that this fixing this cosmetic radio issue is the first difficult repair we have had. All of our previous updates went smoothly. This one not so smooth. DaveofDurham
So, 3 days at the dealer shop last week. A lot of back and forth with corporate and they got this fixed. Well it was fixed for 2 or 3 days, but now it is back to doing the same thing when I change from 99.9 sports radio to 91.5 public radio. Oh well, I will ask about it again when we bring our C-Max back in a few weeks when they have a replacement driver's seat back frame for us. Singoffpitch
Has anyone found a real fix for this yet? My 2013 is currently in the shop for the third time with this problem. In the past, a complete system reset and software update fixed it, but this time, they can't get it working. I can't change the radio station with steering wheel controls or touch screen. If I change it manually with the scan buttons, it doesn't show the change on the screen and then randomly changes back to whatever station it was froze on when I started the car. I can't even turn off the radio with the manual power button!
PJFW8
I have the same issue. Pulling fuse 79 often helps but my AM FM radio rarely functions correctly. Last week the radio would not turn off. Eventually it responded to a voice command. Dealer fixes have been short-lived. My Energi is a 2013
MichaelM
I had a similar problem with my radio where the AM or FM station display would not update when I changed channels. In my case though an error code was thrown (I don't remember the code) saying that the radio was not communicating with the SD card (I know that is NAV but still) they replaced the A4 with an A5 and all was now working and has not faulted since. N7VY
Well I recently found that my frequency display wasn't changing when changing stations. This was frozen on both FM and AM. I tried doing a master reset. This didn't work. I saw someone posted that they tried taking the fuse out but that didn't work. I got my system to correct itself by removing Fuse #73, 79 and 85 in the passenger footwell. After having the fuses out for an hour I started the car, turned it off, opened the door and closed it. I did this twice. The MFT display along with the right dash display didn't show anything. I reinstalled the fuses and stared the car. The frozen radio was working correctly along with the right dash display. The only issue I have is I lost my 911 Assist. I can always go to the dealer and get this reinstalled. For those having a frozen radio/display, give this a try. It worked for me.
N7VY
My excitement was short lived. 24 hours later my radio display information is frozen. Sorry folks. I guess it's time for the dealer and reprogram the ACM. Edited January 9, 2016 by N7VY
Singoffpitch
I've had to have this fixed on my 2013 C-Max 4 times. A master reset of the Sync system usually fixes it for a few months. Then I just take it back for another reset when it freezes again. No one can figure out why it's doing it. They say there have been no other reports of this issue. CAcreeks
AM FM frequency display incorrect after change by voice command. Is this still not fixed? MySync claims the last update was April 2013 and there is no newer version - hard to believe.

See this post and thread. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5475-mft-update-to-v38-has-been-released/?p=63495 I've since updated to 3.8 as described in the thread. raadsel
Not sure which head unit you have but it seems like both types (MFT and normal Sync) have been updated in the last year or so. If I recall correctly, some of the Job 1 C-Max hybrids required the dealer to upgrade the software; though that may have only been with the MFT unit. Your best bet is likely to try sending an email to the forum Ford rep for help with the issue. Edited September 16, 2016 by raadsel

Version 3.8 was released last year; however, it was recently removed from accounts and is not available online at this time. A dealer can install the update, at no cost to you, under the 12M02 Customer Satisfaction Program. Shaay obob
CAcreeks
Thanks Shaay, Raadsel, and Plus 3 Golfer. I'll be visiting the dealer soon for my 40K oil change. Inaccurate AM/FM display bothered me this month mostly because Howard Stern was on vacation.
jestevens
I used to see problems with track updates on MP3 CDs, a few glitches with XM titles when the XM free preview was on - I just figure it waits until it hears from the Satellite about station and track info after tuning in, no problem with FM bands being updated though. I had to eject MP3 CD today and remount it so it would read properly. Display said "Track 0" with no title. I am glad there is extended warranty on APIM because over the last few years I just chalked it up to poorly debugged software (it -is- made by Microsoft after all) - the display would be a little weird but it never failed to play. Lately the "radio" seems a little more hesitant to work than usual. My friend has a new Mercedes where the radio freezes more often than not when XM sends a channel update command to the radio. Apparently they added more channels to their line up than the engineers had developed the software to support and it was running out of memory. It took me a while to convince him that his "radio" was more like a computer than a radio in new cars.
