And this is why it's my last Ford product
bigalpha replied to valkraider's topic in General Discussion
Any idea what the end user experience is with these systems? Are they high speed or are they poor? -

I would like to point out that the idea was for Ford to provide an upgrade package, not to get hardware for free. -

*shrug* Granted, there's better places on this forum to put his rant I don't see how bitching about the downfalls of your car on a car forum dedicated towards your car is all that illogical. Well, except for putting up with all the fanboys who circle jerk each other to just put you down about it. -

Are you guys this insulting and condescending to everyone you don't agree with, sheesh. -

Well, when I demo'd it, it seemed pretty good. After using it for a while, not so much. It's not like I had months to try it out before I bought the car. -

Tried to, but got lead astray by your condescending replies. Hard to discuss something when the other party is just insulting. -

Is 66 not old nowadays? Is it one of those "66 is the new 50" deals? I don't know, all I know is that I don't approve of Ford leaving us all high and dry with the crappy MFT system and I personally feel that they should attempt to at least provide a version of Sync 3 for us, even if it's somewhat crippled. Is this the part where you say, "Back in MY day, we had to crank our cars by hand to get them started." -

Boy, aren't you just a condescending old man! Perhaps. Maybe. They both do run on ARM, granted they are on different chipsets. Why won't they make a retrograde kit? Right, because that doesn't sell more cars. -

They were all working on the drivetrain and suspension. They didn't work on the interior. -

That's completely different and you know so. -

Ford can certainly port a version of the new software to work on our systems. I get them not installing new hardware, but not including new software? Lame. It's like if you were to buy a phone then two years later the maker says "Well, we're doing a new operation system but you don't get it." Guess you'll have to buy a new phone *insert trollface*. -

Well I always get new software and OS updates on my phone. Apparently some TVs have software updates now, too (though most upgrades with TVs are hardware-based). My Playstation gets updates. My computer gets updates. Apple supports previous hardware versions with their software. Windows runs on all sorts of devices. Android runs on a metric crap load of different devices. Considering that the MFT is the 'central command' and we can't replace it or upgrade it, I do think they should support previous hardware versions when new software comes out. Not to mention, current MFT, like I mentioned, isn't that great. I find it highly insulting to be told to 'stop bitching, just buy a new car' when manufacturers of a $500 piece of hardware can manage backwards compatibility. In terms of computers, you can upgrade the hardware pieces to support new software. You're telling me that the parts and pieces can't be upgraded? Bull. They should offer a retrofit kit. It's business practices like this that turn people away from companies. It's not like I'm asking them to give me new tires or new suspension components. -
Tell me about the Sony system?
bigalpha replied to SPL Tech's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
IMO, the MFT upgrade is most useful for the better radio. -
I've never noticed the temp icon change colors. I'll have to look later.

CMax testing from Argonne National Laboratory
bigalpha replied to jdbob's topic in General Discussion
Especially since the CMax has been produced and sold around world since 2003! -

It'd really be one thing if MFT was actually really good, then you're stuck with something that's legit for the next umpteen years. But the MFT system isn't really that good. It may not be a big steaming pile like it was before but it's certainly nothing to write home about. Though I did learn a valuable lesson: never buy a car with proprietary 'smart system' built in that doesn't support full phone access. Especially with the rise in smart phones and cell coverage. Why would I use crappy Ford navigation when I have Google Maps on my phone? Especially using the voice commands for navigation. HAH! Voice activated HVAC controls? Never use them. Faster just to turn the temperature knob. Phone settings? Don't reliably work (can't permanently shut off phone notifications). Radio settings? They are okay but I feel that they could be improved. A $35,000 car is a lot different' than a $1,500 TV or a $500 phone. -
And this car is particularly bad about the vibration.
-
Yeah, we have the extended warranty too, but it doesn't cover any of the interior crap that rattles and vibrates. Nor the window squeaking, etc. Suffice it to say, this will be my last Ford.
-
Do this immediately. I stuck with one dealer while my warranty ran out. After the warranty was out, Ford basically told me that I was on my own even though the issues were pre-existing and I had documentation on it.
-
Well, I really just meant that I even have to do this! Hell, my 93 Cherokee doesn't make this much noise.
