  1. Well, that makes DTE essentially useless, no? Especially in a rolling computerized spaceship... I never top off - but I guess that's why the fuel gauge bumped back up; to show that there was some fuel left? I never intentionally run the car that low on fuel, this was an oversight on my sightseeing while driving! lol Have you noticed the fuel gauge changing before? I've noticed it even with much more fuel in the tank. The level will be dropping then all of a sudden, it'll go up a smidge.
  2. Recently went on vacation (drove to SLC from southern AZ). At one point, we were climbing a mountain to go visit a park. I had a quarter tank of gas and a lot of miles registering on the DTE screen. Fast forward a few minutes and I was down to low double digit miles (DTE) and not a gas station in sight. I was literally watching the miles tick off of the DTE one by one every 100 feet or so. So, we turned around to use the remaining fuel to get to a gas station. I coasted down about 4-5 miles of the mountain in single digit DTE. What's strange is that the miles were still ticking off even though I wasn't using the gas motor. Also noticed something weird with the gas gauge. It went down to E, then blipped under it, then came back up then showed fuel in the tank. I got to the gas station with 0 DTE. I pumped 12.2 gallons and the car registered it burned 11.3. Car never shut off, though, and the gas motor kicked in a wee bit to help up a small hill. What's up with the gas gauge?
  3. Thanks. I don't have any sketchy electronics that I'm plugging into my $35,000 car, lol. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't plug anything in that'd trip it. I'm not running a vacuum or flat screen.
  4. I don't recall if the power supply had an amperage listed, I'll have to double check. Also, if I trip the self protection on that 110V plug, will I have to restart the car to regain functionality?
  5. If I have a power supply that's plugged into the wall, e.g. battery charger, how do I verify that it's safe to use in the car?
  6. I see that it's rated at 150 watts, but are there any other specs published for it? I assume you can plug in a computer to it?
  7. I'm not very impressed with the navigation package. My phone running on 3G loads way faster than the Navigation in the car. Plus, I hate the searching by intersection. It's completely useless.
  8. Must be the way I sit, I can't get it to go that low still. Oh well.
  9. I play Ultimate Frisbee. I've been playing since 2003. I friggin' love it.
  10. I average about 40 a day driving ~150 miles with a majority of that at 65+
  11. New question: if you remote start the car, and you leave your keys in the trunk and close it, will you lock yourself out?
  12. I've never averaged higher than 44 mpg either - and that's in-town, low speed cruising.
  13. We have switched out a few times and the FE wasn't drastically different - mostly because we both use the Eco Cruise instead of trying to continuously monitor our EV usage while driving. If my commute was shorter, I'd definitely be game for it but that's a lot of work!
  14. Well, I only drive one-way (to work) and my wife drives the other way (from work). It's probably safer if I didn't attempt to have her monitor the current speed vs. kicking the car into EV mode. Also, We usually drive right around 77, and I haven't seen any increase going from 77-78 to 75. That extra 15 minutes we save going 78 as opposed to 65 is valuable since we leave home at 0600 and get back at 1830. Every minute counts!
  15. Yes, I have had the recall performed on 8/14 at 9806 miles. I'm now at 13077 miles. I have a while to put more miles on it to see the difference between pre-update and post-update.
  16. I could never live there (way too isolated) but it gets pretty friggin' green during monsoon season. Of course, I moved here from TN so I don't mind missing the green :D
  17. Jus - I definitely just use Eco Cruise. No way would I have the ability to hypermile for 3 hours a day. Adair - I love in Tucson and work at Ft Huachuca. If you've been down there, you know Ft Huachuca is literally on the side of a mountain.
  18. Well, the elevation change occurs over quite a distance (~75miles) so it's pretty gradual. The vast majority of my drive is highway/interstate (65 on highway, 75 on interstate). The first couple of miles in in-town driving and the last couple of miles is literally on the side of a mountain. Yes, if we keep our current jobs for a long time, we might have to transition into a diesel. When does someone release a diesel hybrid? Seems the best of both worlds...
  19. Yeah, I assumed that my commute essentially balanced out to zero (at least until the 50 mile mark); I was sadly mistaken. I get 33-35mpg on the way there, and 45+ on the way back. The car shows around 40mpg (+/- 2). One day if I get a job closer to home, I will be able to fill up once every week or two instead of every 2 or 3 days.
  20. This is the elevation profile on my commute to work. This explains why why my FE jumps significantly on my way home. I already kind of knew this, but was unaware of the actual profile.
