  1. mtb, the HV batteries do NOT want to have any water added to (or on) them...your article pertains to lead acid batteries, i.e., the 12v battery.
  2. Further confounding the situation, Mobil 1 has just released Extended Performance 0W-20, but lists the same Ford specs as the 5W-20, i.e., Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W-20 synthetic motor oil meets or exceeds the requirements of: ILSAC GF-5 API SN, SM, SL, SJ Ford WSS-M2C945-A Ford WSS-M2C930-A Additionally, inputting data for the 2013 at their website returns a recommendation of 5W-20 Extended Performance, while using 2014 returns 0W-20. Everyone's playing hardball with this. http://msg1svc.net/servlet/Pv?c=703d6578786f6e6d6f62696c26733d3230383538266d3d363626743d4826723d4e2664613d30267469643d30
  3. Rumors continue... http://crackberry.com/future-ford-sync-units-be-powered-blackberrys-qnx-not-microsoft
  4. Unless you're in Asia and ordered those worms in your salad...
  5. Thanks for the warning, Tdefny, but ancient as it is, the charger has overcharge protection. As you caution, that protection is essential.
  6. Since my Max often sits for a week or more undriven in winter, I've been using an ancient analog charger that I found cleaning out the basement. Hook it up to the underhood terminals and charge it up.
  7. True enough, Laurel: but we now own MAXes and Ford no longer has to woo us--they're after a different demographic, eh?
  8. Are you certain ice/snow isn't blocking/activating the rear nearby object warning alarm?
  9. Tom, on the Homepage left-hand column, click on Members and then choose the individual you wish to contact by clicking on their name. On the top right of that page you'll see the Send me a Message tab. When you've received a message, the Messenger icon near your name on the Homepage will be red. Think you need to post a minimum number of messages before you can PM someone, though.
  10. Years (and years) ago the rough rule of thumb was at least 10%...you could always spot the guy who didn't keep track of his fuel economy but claimed he did when he said it was the same summer or winter. This is in Michigan.
  11. Depending on how warm you like the interior and many other variables, those figures aren't out of line, though more data points might narrow the spread. If someone has never before calculated the difference between summer and Michigan winter fuel economy they're in for a bit of a shock.
  12. ETIS as of today does not show my SEL as being covered under 13B12, though I have experienced the dead battery syndrome.
  13. Leather police search gloves work for me down to 20F so far...
  14. TSapp, until something definitive can be done by Ford, perhaps drdiesel1's suggestion might work for you, i.e., use a battery charger to top off the battery.
  15. wab, not much difference with what I experienced, mpg-wise. However, when I filled up (3 times) the pump said I used about 10% more fuel than the dash readout. How about you?
  16. Other than the personal comfort factor, does anyone anymore recommend idling an engine before driving?
  17. Same here, asb: just returned from a Texas trip and saw indicated mpgs of low to mid-30s carrying a load similar to Recumpence. Actual economy (by the pump) ranged from upper 20s to low 30s, though urban driving in Houston I could achieve the 40s. Did my interstate driving at 70 - 77 using ECO Cruise, and while I made the time I wanted, I sure missed the mpgs I get around town here at home.
  18. The typical error for me in over 12,000 miles is between 4% to 8%, much as others are reporting.
  19. I lost ECO+ after having the procedure performed.
  20. That thin black fabric overlays some sort of harder backing: if worse comes to worst and you have to replace, I'd be curious to know the cost.
  21. Zhackwyatt, your lifetime odometer reading and mine are two/tenths of a mile different...for whatever that's worth.
  22. Thanks, fotomoto: I made my comment based mostly on my bicycling experience, but because of the info presented in this forum I've bumped up the pressures to the low 40s and so far so good.
  23. Higher the pressure, the rougher the ride.
  24. While my "car" often lags behind on the map, it is never more than a couple hundred feet, nowhere near a half mile.
