  1. Seems to me that the 'coaches' reflect mpg, much the same way the green leaves do. At 70 mph+ regardless of driving mode fuel economy is lower and the coach reflects that.
  2. "However, I also had the Torklift trailer hitch with an Allen four-bike rack, five total people and luggage." Hybrid dude, are you aware that for the C-Max there is a combined passenger and cargo weight limit of 825 lbs.?
  3. I've come to the conclusion that the blinking white circle is an indication of where the vehicle might be located, since it's not always right at the point of the arrow.
  4. I've used a variety of one sort or another for about 30 years...
  5. I'm inclined to think if it involves protecting our skulls, then it's really, really important...
  6. Relax, Fiona: my Ice Storm still looks great after 4 months....and I have yet to wash it. :secret:
  7. Had beans for dinner last night, so I'm tooting for ya!
  8. Since figuring out how it works I've had no issues inputting addresses. Tapping the State/Prov. tab allows me to set the 2-letter State. Each section must be done in the proper sequence, i.e., State, then City, then Street, then Address. At each stage a selectable number at the right of the current tab shows the possible choices with the inputted numbers/letters and the keyboard will only show active characters that are possible for what has already been selected. For example: if there is no street name beginning with the letter 'Z' in Possum Trot, Tennessee, then that letter will not be available on the Street tab keyboard
  9. Salsa guy, your statement "most folks don't even know what a c-max is" really rings true. I was responding to a freebie offer today and was asked what I drove and when I responded with C-Max the used car salesman asked what that was. This was at a FORD dealership in Michigan not 10 miles from the factory.
  10. If anyone hasn't been under the hood for a while, you may want to check the two air intakes at the cowl: Mine had quite a collection of cottonwood seeds matted up on the mesh filters.
  11. Good show, moytoyx. Just remember: word around here is anyone reporting under 40 mpg will be subjected to scorn and opprobrium and maybe having their MAX keyed. Obviously just kidding
  12. I know an argument from years ago was that premium gas was 'premium' because it contained additives to reduce knocking, but those additives did not contain the same energy potential as regular gasoline, so therefore a gallon of premium gasoline contained less energy than a gallon of regular, hence lower mpgs for a vehicle that could run on regular.
  13. Adair, we're sure going to want to see your work order after the vehicle is repaired...
  14. Nor wanting to be a bubble-burster, Adair, but I use an ancient (6+ years?) Samsung non-smartphone and have the same issue as you: including one Audio Off freeze-up yesterday afternoon also. Like you, the first time was in warmer weather several weeks ago, but it was also when I tried installing a thumb drive I was given. Regardless, there are several different model Ford message boards which share our complaint. http://fordsyncforum.com/topic/2259-2011-edge-mft-audio-off/ http://fordstnation.com/focus-st-interior/5978-mft-frequent-problem-playing-audio-usb-device-no-sound-cant-change-source.html http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-st-electronics/3779-no-sound-any-source-mft.html Even a YouTube Video:
  15. Went in for the tailgate issue at 8:30am, and was told I would be the technician's first vehicle that day. Received call about two hours later to say car was ready.
  16. Jus and Recumpence and numerous others have shared lots of valuable info. As for break-in, there are so many variables that it's tough to discern, but your mpgs should be better with the accumulation of miles, though you already have a respectable 3800. Also, speed kills...mileage: 70 is bad, 80 is worse and 90 is likely jail time.
  17. Happened to me today as I was backing into the garage. No cause for concern at this time...
  18. http://www.scangauge.com/ Just plugs in to your OBD.
  19. I suspect the slight angle is a non-issue and might even favor the ramp method. Additionally, ever watch the guys/gals doing one of them quick oil changes? Likely as not, the drain plug is replaced while oil is still flowing out of the pan. Lastly, there are any number of cavities and depressions on the internal engine parts that will never drain while the car is right side up. That slight bit of residual oil seems not to have been a problem in the millions of vehicles sold over the years...
  20. Same problem here about a half dozen times. Can't definitely relate it to high temps since it's even occurred in the garage. Most times it's self-corrected, but once I removed fuse 67 to get it working again. Going in Monday for the liftgate notice, but don't think the techs have enough experience to diagnose/repair that freeze problem yet.
  21. Resetting the Oil Life Monitoring System (page 281 Owners Manual, 1st Edition) Note: Reset the oil life monitoring only after an oil change. 1. Turn the ignition key to the on position. Do not start the engine. For vehicles with push-button start, press and hold the start button for two seconds without pressing the brake pedal. Do not attempt to start the engine. 2. Press both the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time. 3. Keep both pedals fully pressed. 4. After three seconds, the Service: Oil reset in prog. message will be displayed. 5. After 25 seconds, the Service: Oil reset complete message will be displayed. 6. Release both the accelerator and brake pedals. 7. The Service: Oil reset complete message will no longer be displayed. 8. Rotate the key to the off position. For vehicles with push-button start, press the start button to turn the vehicle off completely. You're welcome.
  22. Mine came with 3.5.1 installed, and EV+ comes on just about 4/10 of a mile from home (.64 kilometer, eh?), definitely less that 1/2 mile.
  23. Yeah, I had a 9-yr old SUV purchased new and only had 54,000 miles on it, but a close inspection of one of the front tires had me shocked. I doubt that baby would have gone another year just sitting in the driveway. If you want more info on tire longevity: http://www.edmunds.com/car-care/how-old-and-dangerous-are-your-tires.html
