  1. Plus 3, just because I 'liked' your post above doesn't necessarily mean I understand it.
  2. I was wondering about that step 3 also after well over 5 minutes with no change. I was idling in a parking spot and backed out (rear view cam was working) and when I shifted to Drive all the steps were completed. Thought sure I had screwed up the install by backing up.
  3. I thought the monitor on full hybrids merely counted 10,000 miles...
  4. Went out this morning to install update and found the battery dead, first time in 6 months and 9,000 miles...coincidentally--or not?-- this was after the vehicle had its first wash, in the driveway with a garden hose over the weekend. Had a jumper handy and started up instantly and install went well. Settling in now and awaiting the next surprise...
  5. Thanks, ArizonaEnergi: after uninstalling/re-installing Java I was able to download to a flash drive. I'll likely do the installation tomorrow. Without your help I'd still be scratching my head.
  6. How the heck you guys getting it to download? I've got Windows with the current Java update and the Java control panel tells me it's enabled in the browser, but the 3.6 will not download for me and I get no browser prompt asking permission when I try to d/l. After a minute of the spinning wheel I get a 'Help' button which results in" Java is Not Enabled in Your Browser Enable the Java plugin in your browser settingsWe have detected that Java is disabled in your browser. In order to begin the download process, it is essential that this plugin is up-to-date and enabled. If you do not have the latest version installed, please visit the Java website. 7. Stick around a while, you haven't seen me on a bad day...
  8. Nice job: where'd you get the bulbs?
  9. Dealer prep is supposed to take care of tire pressure: good luck with that. Checking fluid levels is a good idea, too.
  10. Speaking of 'elderly man', the several C-Maxes I've seen on the road were all piloted by same. Come to think of it, I fit that description too. If that's the demographic, Ford may want to change the name to Senior-Max...
  11. 50-55 around town seems like you're very well-tuned for driving a hybrid.
  12. She's being a little evasive: because I'm experiencing the same problem I tagged along at the dealership and when I arrived there were a half-dozen or so engineers and service personnel cowering and cringing in a corner of the service bay. Once Adair put down the bullwhip they jumped all over her car with their laptops. Joking aside, it was gratifying to see so much computing power and so much concern by the engineers. They're obviously trying to solve the issue and I wish 'em well.
  13. Phil, if you don't mind my humor, you need to query Ford about the 'Troglodyte' package...
  14. Many years ago not only could you pick up your new vehicle from the factory, but you could take a tour and perhaps watch it being built. No longer the case.
  15. Yee Haw! Git along little doggie...
  16. For anyone not aware: the two cupholders in the center console have a rubber mat at the bottom which can be removed by pulling up on the small tab located at the rear of said mat.

    Mystery Indicator

The yellow LED next to the lock-looking icon does indeed verify that all doors are locked. Handy to peek in from outside and verify if you have OCD.
  18. Arthur, seems to me that when Ford engineers recommend oil changes at 10K for the Hybrid, they've already allowed for the fact that it's a hybrid and the engine is only running part-time, and the frequent starts and stops must result in different scenarios for oil degradation compared to conventional engines.
  19. "Wonder if they're holding them to install the new software update to improve MPGs? I'd rather have my car first and bring it to the dealer later!" No you don't: the factory is much more likely to do it right the first time.
  20. Don't blink, but around 18 seconds in this video you'll see EV+ on the screen. http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=37344
  21. Absolutely, Adair...just this week I tried putting a very large stainless steel colander over the center speaker/grill (after parking, of course) and both times the audio system started normally. As you know, temps were in the 90s and that colander got so hot it couldn't be touched or held for more than a second or two. Served to convince me that the problem is heat related, but didn't want to take it to dealer only to watch them scratch their heads. Thanks to Samszr2 and his dealer when I go in next month for the update/recall I'll be able to point them in the right direction...I hope.
  22. Samszr2, PLEASE keep those of us with the same issue updated...and thanks.
  23. Additionally, be certain tire pressure and wheel alignment is correct.
