  1. I don't think the mud guards hurt FE very much, I have them and still have the best mileage on a tank of gas. :) Paul
  2. Some car insurance policies have roadside assistance which would be a better way to go on the weekend. :) Paul
  3. I was referring to the CMAX's seats.
  4. When you fold down the seat it lowers the seat leaving no room. Paul
  5. I don't think so, Here is a link to FORD Parts.com " http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2013&m=Ford&mo=C-Max&initSearch=1&keyword=PCV%20Valve#Search You can look at the diagram to figure it out. :) Paul
  6. There are atleast several including Jus-A-CMax, I think all members that have gotten 800+ miles on a tank do. I believe all FORD's have knock sensors and will advance the timing until knocking is detected, then back off a little. I first noticed this with my first AeroStar Van in 86, had problems with ICE knocking when it warmed up. Chevron was the only gas it wouldn't knock on. Using Premium also solved the problem and increased my range by 20+ miles when towing a trailer, which is a big deal when driving in the Southwest. I also notice this with MADMAX and the ScanGaugeII you could see the ECM advancing the timing more with Premium than Regular. :) Paul
  7. Trans can't be worked on at this time by Dealers and I'm not sure that FORD is rebuilding them yet. ;) Maybe in the future which would bring the price down. :) Paul
  8. Weight savings is important for City mpg's, but not much for hwy. Aerodynamics are much more important and you have to wonder what a higher roof line going to do. :headscratch:  :) Paul
  9. I think you are right because SOC goes down when coasting. ;) Paul
  10. Thanks for the up date. I have $100 deductible and it doesn't cover FOB so i'm out $260, OUCH! Paul
  11. I run 93 octane all the time in GA, it isn't cost effective with gas so cheap now, but it was close at $4. I hate to give up 2 mpg to go to 87 octane. ;) Ethanol Free is worth another 1 mpg, but too expensive. :) Paul
  12. You can extend your warranty like I did to 132K miles and I think 10yrs. It cost me and extra $2500, but a New Trans is $6K. Mine failed at 98k miles so it was covered anyway. ;) It would appear that Trans failures are caused by high percentage of FWY miles. I wouldn't worry about it if it is mainly a City mileage car. :) Paul
  13. Blackstone said they didn't feel synthetics were much better than non synthetics. I'm still going to stay with Mobil 1 0w-20 though, but I may go to 13k ICE miles this time since my oil was still good at 11K. :) Paul
  14. Somewhere I read that regen stops at less than 5 mph. :) Paul
  15. I would think you have gone enough km, but the car does take a pretty big hit in the winter. Here is some info that explains it. There are things you can do to improve your MPG's. :) Paul
  16. I'm pretty sure you are going to get a terrible brake score if you use friction brakes, I know I have. OUCH! I think it only counts complete stops. I'm not sure if friction braking takes over when you start charging HVB faster than it can charge. Paul
  17. The car is over cooled, you need to block all three openings real good. If you can plugin oil pan heater that would help too. Thermostat starts to open at 182*F and is all the way open at 202*F. If you use the heater very much at all the ICE wouldn't warm up. ;) Paul
  18. That is a good question. Unfortunately that only works for 2013 CMAXs Paul
  19. Plus 3 Golfer ["I think we now have a good number as to the overall efficiency of capturing regen energy and returning it to energy at the wheels. Your 50+ mpg is testament to the FE benefit of coasting in N albeit not always "safe" to do."] I use coasting mainly going down hill and then going into EV on the level to maintain speed as long as I can before going back to ICE. For me my use of coasting is safe IMO or otherwise I don't do it. For my trip back and forth from Home to Work of 7 miles coasting is worth 2-3 mpg. This morning with OT 34*F, SOC 32%, WT 107*F at start and at work OT 34*F, SOC 44%, WT 180*F I got 41.3 mpg (4.4 miles EV) which brakes down to about 2.4 mile coasting, 2 miles EV and 2.6 miles ICE. My Work seems to be higher elevation than Home. Probably average in low 60's mpg going home. My SOC is usually higher at work. It is a shame that FORD decided to pay owners off for overrated gas mileage instead of improving the car. As I have shown it is possible to improve FE with very little money spent by around 5 mpg which would make the numbers 42HWY/47 CITY/combined 45 mpg. Don't think people would have complained. One thing I don't understand is they rate the FFH at 41HWY/44CITY/ Combined 42mpg have in driven both FFH may get 1-2 mpg better HWY, but it doesn't get better CITY mpg's, I saw about 1 mpg less. For me the CMAX is a better overall platform IMO. Paul
  20. No it doesn't, the inverter needs to run at a lower temp than the ICE cooling system. As it is the ICE has a hard time getting hot enough to operate efficiently, it rarely does. :) Paul
  21. I thought I saw somewhere in FORD's literature that it possible to get up to 80% back from regen braking. The research I have been doing says ICE is at best 30% efficient vs Electric Motor at 70% efficient. So Regen/EV only gets 56% efficiency which makes coasting look even better. Unfortunately coasting can only be done when it's safe to do so, but I'm getting good at it so I'm able to get lower 50's mpg with temps in the 30-50's*F on this tank. :) Paul
  22. The Super Bowl Ad with the Bandits and Cops was laughable, it took a New Prius Cop car to pull over a New Prius. What a joke, the new Prius has less HP, I guess to make it get better HWY MPG, 50 vs 48mpg. :drop: :redcard: Paul
  23. Well my fob isn't working very well at all now so I took it to FORD but they said they need both of my FOBs to fix it. I checked my spare fob and it works great so back to FORD next week. ;) Paul
  24. They agreed with me that the Hybrid has very little EV power which is similar to Prius which has a little more EV power. Last weekend I drove up and back in my Daughter's 2011 Prius, it has been three years since last time I have driven it. WOW I didn't remember how big of a difference there is, the ICE runs almost all the time. It is very hard to run in EV Mode on the HWY and it is a little annoying the high RPMs ICE noise anytime you needed to speed up. I was getting leg/foot cramps from not being able to move the seat up for my long legs. I would think Prius drivers would be amazed by the difference compared to CMAX. She made the mistake of putting some cheap Cooper LRR tires on her Prius and lost about 3mpg, OUCH! I did put a bottle of NOS Octane Booster in and seemed to help about a mpg. ;) Paul
