Don't forget to post it in 600 mile Club thread. :) Paul

I rotate my tires every oil change, 10Kmi. and now I suggest reversing rotation at 30Kmi. to decrease feathering and noise.from tire tread. I guess you could reverse rotation and move fronts to rear everytime to get the best mileage from tires and the least noise. :) In my case the noise started when ICE was on after I had stopped for gas on a trip. The sure fire way to tell if the Trans is going to fail is to monitor Trans Fluid Temp at HWY speeds for over an hour. If you get above 160-170*Fis a bad indication, it took 7Kmi. to when the Trans failed after first monitoring TFT. ;) Paul

We covered this in the tire threads but I had a problem the alignment in the back which caused tires to feather on the edges. I reversed the rotation of the tires after they fix the alignment problem. This helped to even out the wear and cut down on the tire niose after a while. I run my tires at 50psi and they wear great! :) Paul

Actually E10 regular can't have more than %10 ethanol, but can have less. Our cars aren't designed to use more than %15 ethanol. I use Premium and get almost as good MPG's as ethanol free. I only use ethanol free when I think can break my record miles on a tank. If you want to get a 600mi tank easially use ethanol free. :) Paul

In the future I'm going to go out of my way :shift: not to buy gas at BTW Station. LOL :lol2: Paul

I hope you like the car enough to force FORD to find the problem instead of going through the pain of the Lemon Law. It actually could be cheaper for FORD to go the Lemon Law route than spend the time to figure out what the real problem is. IMO I hope they figure it out. :) Paul

CMAX Owners post your +600mi tank Pics to join the 600mi Club and get your Great Prizes! (just kidding LOL) It is worth a good pat on the back though and save some money. :) BTW Gas Prices are going up. Paul

I hope you follow through on this so they have to figure out what your problem is. I know it is a real pain, but it is the only way they can solve this issue. It would be sure nice if they could supply you a monitor that would record any voltage drains to see what device is doing it. IMO :drop: Paul

Well I have met you and your not 110! LOL :) Paul

Georgia raises Gas Taxes July 1st and Drops Tax Credits

No easy solution here, gas prices here have gone up $.40/Gal. Biodiesel could be the cheapest solution in the future. Paul -
Georgia raises Gas Taxes July 1st and Drops Tax Credits
ptjones replied to ptjones's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I'm not sure that this is true for everyone, I believe some saved money over having a ICE vehicle. Now with no Tax Credit and additional $300 every year might not make economical sense enough to jump from ICE to EV. IMO ;) Paul -
Georgia raises Gas Taxes about 10cents a gallon July 1st. Also drops Tax Credits for Electric and Alternative vehicles and adds $300 electric/$200 alternative fuel registration fee. This could hurt sales of these types of vehicles. Apparently there aren't any deductions for Hybrids/Plugins. :drop: Paul

My Trans was 180-190*F at those speeds and temps after hours of driving. Higher with higher outside temps. :) Paul

They checked mine by putting it on the rack with someone in the car accelerating slightly and then letting off the gas. You could hear the gear play in the transmission. It only took 400mi. from the start of hearing the noise and the mechanics easily hearing it. It would seem that it will take quite awhile before something catastrophic happens. ;) Paul

Service writer said that they would put in a request to FORD to find out what caused the Trans to fail. There are two Aluminum 1/2" tubes coming out near the bottom of Trans going to the front to Trans Fluid Cooler. If you shine a light down to the bottom of Trans you will see the tubes and you can work your hand down to the tubes without burning yourself to check the temp. ICE temp and TFT aren't necessarily related. As hybridbear has mentioned in different thread he got high TFT (220*F) going down hill ,, but going downhill would make ICE WT go down too. I don't think the computer monitors TFT which is a problem when TFT is high and ICE WT is below 215*F so the shutters aren't open. TFT runs cooler with Grill Covers on from my experience, they cause the WT to get above 214*F causing the shutters to open and allow some cool air to get through. :) Paul

Ford is replacing my Trans and paying for rental car so I would say you are in good shape with 8yr/100Kmi hybrid warranty. :) Paul

No, but I will ask them. It would be interesting to see what the Trans Fluid looks like. :) Paul
-
It's my understanding that the Trans internal Trans Fluid Pump works only when ICE is on and should be pumping fluid through Trans Fluid Cooler in front of radiator. If the pump fails the only cooling the Trans is get is from air flow around Trans and from the ICE block if it is cooler than Trans. :) Paul

It would be nice to know what the problem is and they did to solve it. I'm guessing the only ones that have failed have been 2013's. ;) Paul

I will find out and Post it tomorrow, maybe 100Kmi. BTW The Transmission is a lot more than a trans, it has two electric motors/generators in there too. Here is a list of parts covered by Hybrid Warranty: Your vehicle’s unique hybrid / electric components are covered during the Hybrid / Electric Unique Component Coverage, which lasts for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. • The following hybrid parts are covered during this extended coverage period: high-voltage battery, hybrid continuously variable transmission, Inverter System Controller (ISC), DC/DC converter, high-voltage battery connector, battery pack fan assembly, thermistor probe, Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module (HBPSM), Battery Energy Control Module (BECM), and the PHEV onboard charger. • The following Focus Electric unique parts are covered during this extended coverage period: high-voltage battery packs, high voltage charger, DC/DC convertor, Electric Drive Module Assembly (includes electric motor and gearbox), trans range and charge cord. Note: Lithium-Ion Battery Gradual Capacity Loss The Lithium-ion battery (EV battery) will experience gradual capacity loss with time and use (similar to all lithium-ion batteries), which is considered normal wear and tear. Loss of battery capacity due to or resulting from gradual capacity loss is NOT covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See your Owner’s Manual for important tips on how to maximize the life and capacity of the Lithium-ion battery. This is in you Owners Manual Warranty info with the car. :) Paul

If you take it to the Dealer and they write it up then you have something in writing about possible Trans Problem for future reference. It also gives you advance notice that probably within 10Kmi. the Trans is going to go bad. I knew that there was a good possibility on my trip to AZ the Trans was going to go bad. I also know the Trans will go at least 1100mi once it starts to make noise. :) Paul
