  1. This Morning I checked temps again on my ScanGauge II and IT/69*F, WT/66*F and TFT/84*F. Today WT vs TFT is off by 18*F, yesterday it was off by 14*F and tomorrow I will check again before drop it off at FORD and see what the difference is with a hot ICE and FORD Scanner. I need more info at higher temps to see if this a matter of subtracting 16*F or removing 15% of displayed value. Paul
  2. It would have been nice if you were able to get TFT while this was happening. It would be nice to know if this problem cause a rise in TFT. :) Paul
  3. I believe Warranty work, they send the parts back to FORD to have them evaluated. This may also keep the Dealers honest to keep them from preforming unneeded work. :) Paul
  4. How many miles did you go? :) Paul
  5. To me the right tire pressure to use would be the tire pressure that gives even tire wear, 50PSI for the CMAX from my experience. Which is below 51PSI for our Michelin's, to have lower is waste of gas. IMO Paul
  6. Were you notified by mail on this and when did you get it? I'm going have to check FORD Service Manager on this. :) Paul
  7. Thanks for the info. My Trans seems to be working fine, but it is heating up little bit faster each time I use it. Today I went into town(5mi) then Shopping Center(5mi) and back to shop(5mi) and TFT was 199*F when I got back. I was going between 35-55mph, Bill-N it would be interesting if we knew if your Trans was getting hot before you had your problems. ;) Paul
  8. I have an appointment for next Monday, hopefully I will find out then. :) Paul
  9. Nice work SnowStorm! Interesting that it looks like you never got up to operating temp of 202*F My guess is that you are losing 1-2 MPG by not having Grill Covers. WT doesn't fluctuate as much with Grill Covers on and Shutters don't open until 210*F at 50mph or less. Remember that any heat lost until the shutters open is wasted gas. It looks like your max TFT was 140-145*F. My FORD Dealer can't see my car until next Monday, interesting that they said they can work on the Trans even though they aren't a Electric Dealer. I would like to figure this out sooner ;) Paul
  10. I'm working on that, but I used the mechanical method of testing, put my hand on Trans Cooler Lines coming out of Trans, they were cool and Trans was hot. I guess someone else could try to put their hands on Trans Cooler lines, but It looks difficult without taking bottom cover off. If you had a IR temp gun you could point it at the lines from the top of ICE compartment. Thanks :) Paul
  11. SnowStorm Great job! This morning I changed my Oil and Filter to Mobil 1 0-20W and K&N filter. I was going to check my Trans Fluid level, but first felt the Trans Cooler lines and they are cold, Transmission is hot. So I'm thinking the cooler is plugged up, 20 minutes of driving to AutoZone and back TFT hit 170*F, 56*FOT. Monday I'm going to make an appointment with Dealer to figure this out. The scarey thing about this is MADMAX seems to be running fine, I'm getting good MPG's and the only reason I know I have a problem is I just got TFT figured out on the ScanGaugeII. I wonder how many other CMAXers could be having the same problem and not know it. ;) Paul
  12. I have monitoring WT since I got the car, but only two weeks ago been able to come up the codes to monitor TFT. The Trans Cooler is separate from Radiator. I hope tomorrow to be able to check trans fluid level and condition of fluid. :) Paul
  13. Yes, I have removed the lower cover where the Trans Cooler is and temps still went up to 250*F. Part of the problem is that the shutters don't open until 215*F WT so taking the Lower Grill Cover off doesn't accomplish any improvement in cooling the Trans.Fluid. The trick is to get WT above 215*F so shutters will open, so my plan is to only block the passenger side half of lower grill so there will be air flow thru the shutters when they open up. :) Paul
  14. The higher the pressure, The lower the tire temperature. The Tire Companies put a Maximium Safe Cold Tire Inflation Pressue on the sidewall of our tires which is 51PSI for our Michelin's. You get great tire wear, for me it was 64K mi. before I put on my new ones. :) Paul
  15. In the FORD CMAX Hybrid Service Manual 307-02 Transmission Cooling gives 8 step procedure for "Transmission Fluid Cooler- Back flushing and Cleaning -Hybrid Electric Vehicle" I look thru the Trans parts list and didn't see a thermostat. :) Paul
  16. Well he's still on the CMAX NRG forum if you have question. :) Paul
  17. The Owners manual says 150K, but I think I'm going to check the color of the fluid by sticking a Qtip thru the Oil leveling plug hole. I'm thinking now that I need to do a back flush on the Trans Fluid cooler to make sure their aren't any blockages in the Cooler which might account for higher than normal TFT's. I wouldn't think you would need to change the Trans Fluid for a while, it's not to hard to check, read above. :) Paul
  18. When the ICE is cold I get the same or close WT and TFT, was hoping someone with a ScanGaugeII would put in the Codes in and see what they are getting for TFT. :) Paul
  19. Well now I'm concerned to why I'm seeing temps up to 250*F TFT. When temps get a little warmer I'm going to drain some Trans Fluid out and see what it looks like. I do have alot more miles(94K) on my CMAX than others on this forum and it would good to find out whats going on. I'm glad I decided to monitor TFT, hopefully others will and we will be able to get a base line temp range. It hasn't hurt my MPG's to much with temps in 20-30's*F, I'm averaging close to 48mpg on this tank. Will update when I check my Trans Fluid. :) Paul
  20. I guess it is easier stay on the forum to get your info. LOL It's more entertaining. :) Paul
  21. I think I would take the high road and just say these FORD Dealership people don't understand how Hybrid systems work. You ask them a question and they immediately think ICE car solution without thinking about it. IMO ;) Paul
  22. Thanks drdiesel1, I have the Service Manual on CD. See .pdf below! Paul307-01 Automatic Transmission.pdf
  23. There is a drain plug and a filler plug on top for changing Trans Fluid. But changing Fluid isn't a trivial thing to do if you have to take the air cleaner off coming from experience with cut up hands replacing the Air Filter. I wonder if it is possible to do with out removing air cleaner? Paul
  24. I think you are right, I think he was trying to get her to put some miles on it. ;) Paul
