  1. Although the BCM controls the lighting, the lights don't remain on at a dim state with the stock incandescent bulbs. The puddle lamps, charge door lamps, running lamps and lic. plate lamps all come on when any door is opened. It's not a specific door that controls each one individually. LED's use way less power. They're polarity sensitive and have a diode to control current flow. I believe they might be glowing from the residual power that is stored in the circuit due to the lower voltage use. I do know the puddle lamps time out before the lic. plate lamps. All the lamps turn off at the same time. Just the puddle and lic. plate lamps have a very dim glow and eventually turn off. This is why I say it's consistent with voltage dissipation.
  2. I just upgraded my puddle lamps and lic. plate lamps with LED's. I noticed they stay on very dim for awhile after the door(s) are closed. The puddle lamps turn off sooner than the lic. plate lamps. Must be the diode keeping the voltage from draining off ??? They eventually turn completely off :waiting:
  3. The main reason for EV up to 85 mph is to get off the tops of hills in EV/Coast mode with a higher EV and regen use, without needing to run the ICE on the freeways at higher speeds. It works great if you can take advantage of it. I find it extremely useful out here in CA with all the large hills. I also utilize the DHA all the time. I can even regen back the EV part of my battery with it. I've been able to get 5 to 7 EV battery miles back after the hybrid side fills up on some of our larger downhills. It's pretty sweet to be able to run EV mode at 65 and 70 when topping the freeway hills. The more the ICE is off, the better your MPG will be. IMO, all hybrid vehicles should be designed with an 85 mph capable EV mode. 42 mph is pretty useless, IMO. I had an 08 Prius and the 2013 C. They don't stack up against the C-Max. The added 85 mph EV mode and the DHA are two of the best hybrid innovations to date. Toyota is scrambling to update it's long in the tooth fleet to compete with this car. First they need to start by using lithium batteries. I would guess they'll move to the Ford, designs for higher EV capability too. They both cross patent each others designs, so I would expect to see this move sooner than later..
  4. I am currently running 48 psi as an mpg and wear test. My car has under 3000 miles. After the 5K rotation, I'll see how the wear is and might go to 50 or 55 ? Running a higher pressure will reduce tire wear and increase mpg numbers, but after a certain point the benefits are lost. We have a member on the Energi forum that runs 58. He's a long time hypermiller that has awards up the wazoo for mpg numbers.
  5. He's driving 70+ :drop: and expecting great mpg numbers. It's like shooting yourself in the foot and blaming the gun :lol2:
  6. What tire pressure are you running ? How many miles are on your car and how many since the upgrade ? Driving 70+ mph will kill mileage numbers. Driving a hybrid like it's not isn't going to give you any mpg advantage. Knock the speed back to 65 mph and set the tire pressures up to 45 to 48 psi too.
  7. Sounds like someone is yanking on the handles before the lock is unlocked :drop:
  8. I hope they at least properly charged it :gaah:
  9. Use the key that's stored in the key FOB to unlock the door and open the hood. You'll need to recharge the battery or it will just happen again. See post #129 We have a huge thread on the Energi site about this.
  10. Jumping a dead battery will not correct the problem. It will only make matters worse. You need to properly charge the 12V Battery with a micro processor controlled battery charger. I've found my 12V battery down to 50% SOC. I've charged it 3 times since buying it on Aug. 18th. The charging system is not properly maintaining the battery. Most 12V batteries will remain around 75% to 85% on average. I was maintenance charging my non hybrid vehicles every 6 months to keep the batteries in good shape. I found I need to do this with my C-Max at least once a month or until, Ford changes the systems DC/DC charging functionality. This is the charger I've been using for all my auto/motorcycle stuff for the last few years. It's a great little charger for a good price. It will handle battery charging without the need to monitor it. Set it up and let it go until the CHARGED lamp comes on. It even has a desulfate mode. It will condition your battery and extend it's life. My wife's OE battery lasted 8 yrs. using this little gem. http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SSC-1500A-SpeedCharge-Charger-Battery/dp/B000H961YI
  11. If you are not utilizing the downhill assist, you're missing a high regen rate capture opportunity. The DHA is a valuable tool and works better than using the brake pedal activation method of regen.Plus, you get the benefit of not needed to use the brake pedal as the DHA will maintain your downhill speed. Learn to use it and you'll find out how convenient and valuable it can be. I use it all the time and have perfected it's use. It's an amazing tool :yahoo:
  12. I'm not aware of anything to prevent the rear doors from being opened from the inside at anytime, except the child lock feature. Have you tried the other door to see if it functions the same ?
  13. It acts both as a vent and a speaker grill. Some radio options have a center speaker in that location.
  14. Both the Hybrid and Energi have oil life monitors. Neither one is programmable. You reset it when the light comes on, or when you change your oil.
  15. 1969 Nova SS with a 350-LT1 shifted though a Muncie 4 spd and a 3.56 gear. Fastest car in high school :worship:
  16. It has a monitor. You just can't access it's info like on a GM. I have the Ford IDS scan tool. Here's a screen shot showing the % remaining.
  17. Pop the panel and use some insulation material. Make sure it's not glue backed or you might never get it back off the dash.
  18. Have you had the oil changed or any work done that would require the panel to be removed ? Sounds like someone dida crapy job of reinstalling it :gaah:
