  1. Looks like no C-Max hybrid? They only talked about the Mondeo conventional hybrid.
  2. Interesting. I am wondering what Ford is up to for the next gen cars. Been very quiet about the C-max replacement. Something coming to compete with the new Chevy Bolt?
  3. Thx for the explanation. That does make sense. I think this an issue today and why many things are being simplified. More complicated gives you the power to do more but also makes it harder to use. I remember when everyone was talking about the Ford Sync system and how advanced it was. You could do so much more with it. If someone can not figure out something then they blame the system. Now they have removed features to simplify things. I do believe that the system could be improved like any computer system but I think Ford is getting a bad rap for a good system.
  4. Is the audio rating based on repair of the system? I would think this one might be more about how users like using it? I think the system is very good and one of the best in class (MFT). Sure there are better but I have seem much worse. I think the power of what this can do adds confusion on how to use. I also think the sound quality is very good too. I wonder what the breakdown is for the Sync system, MFT and the Sony options? Audio System - poor (2014 improves to below average)
  5. Generally there are factors to brakes. 1) The pads wear thin. At that time the pads are replaced as well as the rotor either machined or replaced. Today most rotors are just replaced. 2) The rotors are too thin. They have a minimum spec as to how thick they are. If they are too thin (below the spec) then they are replaced. I have never seen rotors replaced before the pads wear out unless you have: 3) Rotor warped. Something is hanging up and causes the rotor to overheat and warp. The pedal will pulsate when you apply the brake if you have a warped rotor. Grooves in rotors are normal. Now if your pads wear out and you have metal to metal contact then those grooves are a different story. Those groves will generally be deeper and again below the minimum thickness spec of the rotor. I would ask why they want to replace the rotors? Hope that helps
  6. Nice car. Does it cost more than my $21K C-Max? :lol2:
  7. I looked at the Escape. I like the style but I felt like I had more room sitting in the C-Max. Just one time sitting in the Escape was enough to push me back to the C-Max. I do see a lot of Escapes on the road so people must like them.
  8. Not a small guy but smaller than me. Heavy foot YES. He get 12 MPG in the truck where I can get 15 to 17 in the city. He only drives the C-Max a few times a week.
  9. I do see this, not that uncommon. Depends on the area and time of day. Speed limit here is 70 MPH but I think many misread it as 70 MPH minimum ;)
  10. Guess we need a C-Max neighborhood here in Michigan for the summer and then we all spend the winter down your way. Maybe "C-Max Hills Subdivision" ;)
  11. I guess I was not the only one with a Scion xB that was sold on this car. I had a 2005 xB, great fun car too but way different from the C-Max.
  12. Best tank so far 56.7 MPG on Fuelly. I also had a new high for going to work in the morning, 75.4 MPG. I love the warm summer months! I did not get a screen shot of the dash for the last fill up. I usually fill up every week or two which is about 1/4 to 1/2 tank. My avg below of the last 10 fill ups is more than 500 miles. 52.3 on Fuelly

  15. I like the look of the factory carpeted mats. I mainly just want to keep the snow, shush and salt off the carpet. The Husky mats work well but I don't care for the looks of plain plastic. Kind of looks like a work truck. I know people that always cover up the carpet and mats to protect them year around. They say it is better for resale. That is true but I enjoy the look from the factory. I did have to replace the factory mats in my last car as I wore them out. If they last 5 or 6 years I am good with that. To each his own.
  16. I have also never seen or heard of rotors that need to be replaced before the pads are worn. The pads and rotors are burnished together (basically a break-in). This gives you the most surface contact and best braking. Replace the rotors and I would think you should replace the pads too. You can also check the thickness of the rotor. There should be a minimum spec. Grooves are normal on rotors.

    SYNC 3

WOW, I will be really surprised if that happens. Maybe if they did this as a cost upgrade? Just seems like a lot of work on Ford's part. I hope they are right.
  18. Good tip. It does stay pretty warm in the ducts when first starting. I also like to use the remote now to remotely have all the windows roll down before I get to the car. Really helps cool down the car fast too.
  19. I drive 15K a year, 90% of that in the city. On the standard hybrid I avg 47 MPG including winter use which is lower MPG. I get up to 75 MPG in the city driving to work and back which is 10 miles each way. I have a place to plug in at work but I did not want the loss of space and the extra cost of getting the energy. I see 3 C-Max's at work and none are plugin's I am very happy with the standard hybrid and would buy it again. Run the numbers on the payback to see if it is for you.
  20. Sorry to hear about your car. Good to know that today's safety systems work very well.
  21. I am very happy with the Husky mats. I only use them for the winter. Oh man, just started thinking that I need bring them up from the basement soon. Summer felt too short. :>(
  22. You might need an update done to correct this issue. We are hoping that the latest update/test of the system takes care of the issue. Could be the battery also. Mine is about a year old now and they had to do the update about 6 months ago.
  23. Search here on the site. I do remember a thread on this after someones system going bad. I think you could also search other forums for replacing the MFT or Sync system. Good luck, let us know what you come up with.
  24. Good point but I was referring to the light switch. You can just turn the headlights off. The ACC position on the SE is there but it is also not very functional. I have used this but it does not take too long before the MFT shuts down to conserve energy. I pretty much never use this anymore. Just turn it to ready to drive mode.
