  1. Newer phones can use a bunch of power. I think the USB ports are limited. I found a nice 2A cig lighter plug that is almost flat with the plug. Works well.
  2. Looks like this was something overlooked for vehicles with daytime running lights. I have been to drive-ins with my SE and no problem. I thought the SEL is exactly the same with the ability to turn off the headlights? (for US version w/o DRL)
  3. I have about 14K on my Max now. Picked it up in Sept. Last fuel my avg was over 50. The winter brought it down to ~43 and now I am at 47.2. Hope to hit 50 again before the cold hits here again. That is on my dash. Fuelly is lower but I started Fuelly in the winter. I am very happy with this for living in Michigan. :) It would be better if I was the only driver too. I am not sure how you only get 38 MPG in the city with no A/C on but he manages to do it somehow.
  4. So many of us here did our own research, checked out the car and find that the car sells itself. Very little promotion from Ford. Enjoy.
  5. Can't remember where I saw it but I saw a Ford vehicle with a dash display that did show the pressures. Maybe it is coming?
  6. The seat heater dial is by the shifter just like the SEL. One of the 1st C-Max's I saw had seats with heaters that were added by the dealer. The dial was on the seat base on the side. Must have been aftermarket.
  7. Thx for the bday wishes. I also wanted to say thx to you for all your posts. You were very helpful to me when I was learning about the C-Max and all the mods you did including the plastic-dip. I liked what you did and inspired me to do mods on mine too. :)
  8. I like how they did the interior. Looks like this has been around a while. I do remember hearing that they did not want sliding doors here. Maybe too much like a mini van? I looked it up on Wiki and it stated that it was here in a auto show but was canceled. From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_C-Max#Mk_II_.282010-.29 Second generation (2010-present) Alongside the third generation Ford Focus Mk III, the second generation C-Max (C344) is built on Ford's new Global C platform. The appearance is inspired by the Iosis Max concept, shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. In addition, Ford added a long wheelbase, seven-seat minivan variant of the C-Max, the Ford Grand C-Max[5] The vehicle was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.[6] Early European models include 5 seats, and 7-seat models entered the market at the end of 2010 (except Russia, where there is only the 7-seat model). At the 2011 North American International Auto Show, Ford announced a 7-seat C-MAX for the North American market.[7] However, this model was cancelled prior to launch.[8]
  9. Hey, we are a day apart. 58 today for me (Aug 6th) Bdays are always better in a C-Max :dancing:
  10. I had issues with getting the right gear position too for drive. Then I learned that if I press the button to release the shifter from park and let go of the button, I can continue to move the shifter but it will stop at drive. Now I don't even look anymore. I know I am always in drive and not low.
  11. I did not know this feature was there. Very nice on a hot day in a parking lot. Thx
  12. My 2014 does have the phone, entertainment and compass options on the right. I think that is standard on the SE but not sure. I have the MFT (202A) package on my SE. I know the 2015 SE can have some gauges on the right now. That would be nice. The leaves don't do much for me. Enjoy it. It is a fun car.
  13. Very true but in many cases "dead" could mean that the car would not start. The C-Max shuts everything down at some voltage so the battery does not go completely dead. Any kind of voltage boost generally will get everything going again.
  14. My other half and I both tried to like the leather seats while doing test drives. Just a few miles and we both felt sticky. Just did not like the feeling. A friend of mine has leather seats in a Chrysler 300 and he said they went for a short drive and someone said to him when they got out of the car that his back was noticeable wet when he got out of the car. I just don't get the leather seat thing. They look good. Even in the house I never like them for sitting on. People do like them though, to each his own.
  15. Glad my pics helped. I like your ideas and keep the pics coming.
  16. OMG that looks so cool. I don't understand why Ford does not push the performance part of this car. How about an ad showing this blowing the doors off a Prius and having some fun and still getting pretty good FE. Chevy is making special versions of the pickup. At least 4 custom packages. Why doesn't Ford do this too? Many people want a unique car and would help people do just that.
  17. Thx for sharing that. I find that interesting. Amazing what you can do with a smartphone today. :)
  18. Second that thought here. I also don't think comparing a Focus to the C-Max is a fair comparison. To me the C-Max is more of a crossover design. I love the extra height. The C-Max is a great city car. I drive 10 miles in the city to work and I can get 60 to 70 MPG in warmer weather. Highway is still better than many cars but I get 47, maybe up 52 MPG on the highway.
  19. I had this happen once on my 2014. The dealer did the routine that Ford specified (latest fix). I have not had the issue since. That was 4 months ago or so. I understand your concerns and agree with the other comments here too. There have been many reasons for this issue. That was one of the biggest reasons why I wanted a 2014 and almost waited for the 2015. I do carry a jump pack now. The good news with this is that it does not take much at all to get the car going again. I am hoping that Murphy's Law comes into play here and because I now have a jump pack, I will never need it. (as I knock on my wood desk) ;)
  20. Welcome and I like your mods. Very cool. I have done the black wheels and grill on mine and I love the look. There are pics in my profile. Still thinking of plasti-dipping more items to kind of debadge. Also would like to get some tint too. For the suspension, I like the car a lot but I wish it was tighter. I had a xB with Tein coils on it that dropped it and I really loved them. Cornering in that car was really fun. I don't get that feeling with the Max. As you look around you will see others that have done some mods too. I have not seen much with the suspension. A video showing your system working would be cool. Keep the ideas and pics coming.
  21. Looks good and thx for all the details. A before and after cargo area lit up pic would be cool. I am surprised that this vehicle has so many non-LED lights.
  22. Just wondering why you are using 0-30W and not the 0-20W as stated in the manual?
  23. Cool, good to hear that. Tires are costly today and I hope mine last that long.
  24. This will be a growing concern. Our cars are a computer (or many computers) on wheels. They are becoming more advanced and reaching out to other vehicles and the internet is going to happen. Our computers, phones and other electronics have to be updated on a regular basis partly because of security concerns. Our cars will be joining the list of needing to be updated devices as well. The comment I heard from Chrysler was that they thought that this information should not be shared for security reasons. That is true but I think they should be thanking the team that hacked their system. Better a good guy trying to show what can happen then a bad guy planing who knows what. Google now pays people who hack their systems. I think they have it right.
