  1. Last weekend I was driving over to the coast on highway 17 to Santa Cruz. In the valley we were having a warm day pushing the 90 degree mark. So as always this leads to an exodus of motorists heading for the beach to cool off. As I got to the summit and could look down at the coastline, it was shrouded in coastal clouds. Never saw the sun all afternoon. Now the reason for my writing this. As I got caught up in the typical beach traffic pattern while climbing up towards the summit at 1800' above sea level my batteries were taking a beating since I was using the A/C with the blower speed at 4 bars. Was trying to see if the steep climb had any effect on the ICE temps with A/C? ICE was on allot of the time during the ascent. But on the other side the traffic continued to be bad and required me to ride the brakes allot off and on. I looked down at the battery level which had been pretty low on the climb up, but now it was nearing a full charge. Eventually it was reading completely full. I wondered if it was possible to hurt the batteries from over charge? I'm sure Ford thought of this and designed a safeguard. Any thoughts?
  2. Unbelievable! you must have been in complete amazement as you moved beyond 650 and saw still plenty of miles ahead of you. But to end up at 764...WOW! Someday maybe I can approach greatness with even 600?
  3. unreal numbers I cant believe this
  4. Needless to say I'm driving over there in the morning, the heck with making a reservation they will just have to fit it in. If they want to get back in my good graces they will put it first over anyone else scheduled
  5. DaveofDurham, that is exactly right using CAT5 or 6 will allow the best possible link to the internet using high speed connection. My dealer wasn't doing that, they were using a wireless connection to their server and it was crashing at the end every time. But it appears my email letter to the service manager paid off since he just informed me this afternoon that they have hardwired to their download PC and successfully completed their first upgrade to 3.5.1 I was told to bring my Max back in and give them a few hours and they will get me back on the road. :) :happy feet:
  6. Well I finally was notified by Ford for two updates available for Sync with MFT Customer Satisfaction Program 13A01 and CSP 13B06 promising at no cost to me to install software for improved performance and enhancement through V3.5 which includes: Simplified phone pairing process.Enhanced voice recognition performance.Improved call sound quality.Simplified voice commands for radio & USB-connected audio players.Enhanced voice & screen destination entry for vehicles equipped with NAVUpdated Bluetooth device/sync compatibility.Outside air temperature display on the 8-inch touchscreen (got that, about the only that was installed correctly)New "EV Info" button on home screen that will take me to a power flow screen that shows energy flow information (got that but it activates by pushing the time display which currently shows the date). For which I say too little too late, now lets do it over right this time. I sent off an email letter to the service department manager outlining my conversation with the service tech who does the software upgrades. Explaining that I want this done ASAP but certainly not before the IT guy can drop a CAT5 cable to the service area otherwise it will be another waste of time. I ended by saying please schedule as soon as possible or I will be forced to take my CMax to another dealership for the upgrade to hopefully be done right.
  7. I was thinking about one of these but suddenly realized that would mean no place to hang this which has adorned my Max since day one...
  8. Jus doing the best I can since I have no control over the situation. Unfortunately I drive past the dealership each day to work. I so want to pull in and get this thing fixed once and for all. It is really getting old not having any use of my MFT.
  9. ..."It does however seem to get better with every release"...Unlike Microsoft which just seemed to get more buggy with each new release. Combined with problems from constant virus and hacker disruptions. Since moving to a Mac I'm a much more problem free user. Virus interruptions are almost never. :) :happy feet:
  10. I can attest to my proximity sensors going off while sitting in traffic. I frequently hear a single or two tones going off from time to time and for no reason that I can see. No body moving near me that I saw. Maybe a piece of road debris was sensed? Or a leaf, pretty touchy system for sure.
  11. Jus, in defense of the Tech he is only doing what the Dealership is allowing to happen by not setting up their server to run hardwired especially to the PC's which are delivering the firmware and software up[grades. He in my conversation has his hands tied by the dealerships lack of giving him the proper tools to work with. He can't do his job effectively because they aren't seeing a weakness in their infrastructure. They need to update their system and tools to bring technology up to speed for these advanced cars. The PC I saw didn't look like any brain buster or gaming level PC as I call anything with the ability to link up and work at light speed which would definitely be of help with these upgrades. I haven't had a chance to check with other dealers yet but I'm not feeling too confident that other area dealers are much better off and up to speed where their download equipment is concerned. I think the mentality of thinking everything should be hooked up wirelessly as the best direction to follow has put all owners locally into the same mess, but I'm only assuming at this point.
  12. Numbers are proven, as I continue to see Pruis's sitting in the resale lot of area Ford dealerships. Owners are defecting to what is an obvious better choice. I saw one sitting in the used lot at Frontier Ford just last Monday.
  13. wish that was the reason for my screw up, easy fix.
  14. what does it do better than the factory computer can do? curious
  15. Not sure if this was the right place to open this thread but here goes. To start off I'm directing my question to only the SF Bay Area CMax Owners who could know about what info I am seeking. Anybody know anything about service at Sunnyvale Ford? If you have been following my last several threads you are aware of the mess I'm in with a failed upgrade to 3.5.1 at Frontier Ford. I was wondering if any body in our forum knows anything about Sunnyvale Fords track record in after purchase service? I would love to hear from you before I contact this service dealership. Thanks.
  16. Thanks Jus, Salsaguy I never really looked at it that way but you are entirely right to think that way. It does seem very unprofessional that they would allow this to happen. I guess I'm just blind sighted by the fact that my family has so much history with this dealer after buying 5 other Fords from them in the last 12 years. But there are plenty more dealers in the area one which is closer to me. But I haven't been wanting to go there because it is on what is referred as "Auto Row" with all the big 3 manufacturer's there plus a huge Toyota and BMW dealership and a KIA. I bought my GMC Typhoon at the GMC dealer there and from the word go after buying the Typhoon I vowed never to do business at that dealer again. Plus bought my wife's Pontiac GrandPrix and my Saturn Vue Redline on this Auto Row. All with very bad service experiences which is why I vowed to never do business there again. There are other Ford dealers a bit farther away from my house but I've not done business with them and maybe that is a good thing. I know at least one other owner on our forum bought from the dealer in Sunnyvale. I think we have a poster who owns two identical gray CMax and I think they were bought from Sunnyvale Ford . I should try to contact him to see what his feelings are toward them?
  17. Yes you are right ScubaDadMiami, if they would let me I could run them a length of CAT5 from their server since I did that sort of thing for my last company before they laid me off in 2007. I'll give them another week or so and then I'll start checking the other dealers in the area. This is inexcusable and dropping the ball in my mind for a dealer to have no hardwired connection to their download computer.
  18. Everyone, struggling with mid 40's welcome to my world. Until I reset my fuel history today I was running in the lower to mid 30's. After resetting the fuel history and while the system re-learns and resets its self I'm running in the 50's :) but by this time tomorrow I'll be back down to 40 or 43
  19. Wanted to share some news I got from my dealer regarding my botched upgrade. I spoke directly with the Tech who does the software upgrades at Frontier Ford, Apparently he didn't attempt my upgrade because he wasn't aware of the problems I was left with nothing working and I told him I have a Focus pictured on my main screen instead of a CMax. He agreed it was messed up. He said he has other upgrades which have failed and I'm not alone with these problems. He explained to me that there is nothing that can be done to remedy this download problem until their IT guy returns. It seems the techs have been attempting the download using a WiFi connection and this upgrade is a huge and lengthy download, so if the WiFi signal drops out there goes the upgrade and why they tried 4 times to do it on my CMax. So until the IT guy can drop a length of CAT5 cable to hard wire the PC they are using. Nothing can be done. So its anybody guess when that will happen. I told him I will be bugging them and checking in weekly to see if any progress has been made. So expect to be tired of me coming around. Pretty sad that this is the way the techs link to the Ford Servers
  20. Thanks for the picture, looks like mine but it is a CMax
  21. All of the above responses are helpful but unless I'm missing something here in California where fuel consumption is so closely controlled/regulated and watched (supposedly) by "Big Brother" who raises the prices on a whim. I don't know of anyway the consumer has any control over the fuel delivery rates. But I do agree that it is something to do with a bad pump nozzle which should be repaired or replaced and usually isn't due to the station owner's neglect. I had one situation where I stood next to my wifes car waiting for it to fill and suddenly the gas poured out all over my hands and pants and shoes. Smelled great in my car after driving away from this station for the last time.
  22. Salsaguy, thanks for commenting and the reason I'm leaving it in the hands of my purchasing Ford dealership is because I have a personal relationship with the Service Manager and my Sales Manager since my family has bought a half dozen Ford products from this dealership over the last 10 years. We are considered to be part of the dealership family as I'm reminded every time I drop by. I'm about to tell them this family member is growing very impatient. I will be dropping by come Monday morning and force the issue upon my dealership family a week after this personal hell began.
  23. GreenChicago, I feel your pain that you as an owner feel you know more about your CMax over the supposedly trained Service expert. I don't understand why this upgrade should be so complicated. Seems it would have been much more efficiently done by allowing owners to download the upgrade themselves using a thumbdrive or external hard drive after a download from Ford's website all of which can be done by using a USB cable which most people have in this digital age and are computer savy enough to accomplish the task on their own. At least then I would have felt like I was in control instead of like now not knowing when my SA is going to contact me so we can get on with this crazy upgrade.
  24. I'm sorry but what is meant by...This topic has been PINNED! :headscratch:
