  1. Check your theme as well. See "Change Theme" on the lower left hand corner of your web page.

I now use the default "I.P.Board" as I had so many issues including login issues with the other Themes earlier. Once I switched to the default one, it all went away. Go figure...

If you still continue having issues, please PM robertlane as he's the site owner, I got no powers to change any parts of the forum.

    Thanks

  2. While I've not driven a RAV4 (only a Prii), driveabiity and vision were the 2 KEY selling points of the CMax. I can't see the RAV4 having the same guts as CMax, or RAV4 having better overall vision of the road (yeah it higher but doesn't translate to more windowspace).

Plus the CMax drive fine in the snow (too many years now I've driven in the snow at Mammoth) et all when El Nino dumps 24 inches of powder in LA...well, not the stuff that you can snortel...lol.

Keep us posted salgaguy & cutie!

  3. Increasing the tire pressure also helps with the MPG but bottom line, the faster u go, the lesser the MPG. Also, I presume you are using eco-cruise - that does a pretty good job for a relaxing ride. However, if you like to squeeze the extra MPG, you need to change your driving technique to Pulse & Glide, also be smart about the turning the cruise on & off, since if you see an decline, come off the ICE and use the EV.

Even with eco-cruise, those numbers are about what I get in my 13 SEL. It use to be better till the 13b07 update, we traded the 66 MPH EV cap to 85 MPH now but back then, we use to run the "ICE high MPG" where you could go sick 45-55MPG on ICE with the high battery by throttling back the pedal..ah those were the days :)

:welcome:  to the forum vonoretn, by the way :)

ps i think the consensus for high speed fwy, the cmax sucks, be better off with a diesel but for city-its a KILLER. But u trade mpg for comfort & tech, better than my :pimp: Prii....don't let nick see this..

  4. Well, you can hope they put the C-X75 up for sale!  Its a hybrid (and I don't think you can call it a sedan!) but for the trip to Mammoth you'll have to "pack light".

forgetaboutit. no "light" packing with Mrs.Jus...if I had a Yukon, she will fill that beast up as well...*sigh*

  5. :welcome: First snow trip back to Mammoth Mountain, CA - the Annual White Christmas vacation :)

I started this thread 3 years ago and every year, my family has been driving up to Mammoth about 5-8 trips a year. Sometimes we go at the Thanksgiving long weekend but always, for the Christmas week long trip.

Maxine (my CMax) has been doing great She's aged a bit, hitting around 56,981 miles on the odo. On the same set of tires still and very little issues other than a catastrophic rear ender by a drunken driver in 2013 which was repaired top notch - but she's singing along sweetly. Can't say enough about the CMax SEL, repairability and reliability.

    About the drive

It's a 286 miles one way trip (572 miles round), beginning at 1,220 ft elevation (this is the correct elevation per Google) at home and ending at Mammoth Lakes township at about 7,800 ft. It's all freeways but there are towns where you slow to a crawl at 25mph, 35mph and you DO NOT want to speed on this trip. I saw so many CHP I stopped counting and they will nail you with a $500 ticket before you even see them...but there are stupid speeders and you always see them FANG past you and 15 mins later, theres a flashing light..and I will wave to them as they get the ticket.

Its really a pleasant drive. For those who know the way: 210 to the 14 to the 395 and then 203 to finish. 2 major, major climbs - the 14 to Lancaster and then the Sherman grade north of Bishop. These 2 burn major fuel. You have the choice to burn-baby-burn or stick to the right & cruise up. My car is fully loaded and I don't like to push the engine at speeds up these grades and with these loads - we are in no hurry.

I still have my main grill cover for the trip. The Gas Pods are in the back and the PSI is at 48 for the tires. I have run many trips before at the same PSI and its perfectly fine in the snow with/without the cables on.

    Driving to the mountain:

We left the temps were around 55F and when we got there, it was a cool at 30F. Driving to the mountain:

    Driving back from the mountain:

:camera: Overall, the trip MPG was 45.9, over 572 miles and 12.47 gallons, fully loaded to the hilt. Hell, I should have tried it with 1 tank but the wife won't have any of it. Its not my best but its the 1st trip since the last update by Ford. I swear my MPGs has been going down since that change...I need to look at my old stats next time.

This is why we go there...

This is why we are season pass holders:

While I luv the mountain but those prices are OUCH! I know Utah is more competitive but as season pass holders at Mammoth, I am so glad we renew each year. We already "paid" for our pass this week so it's FREE skiing & snowboarding until the end of the season in 2016 :)

    Snow conditions at Mammoth:

The snow this year was EPIC. Wednesday was the best, it was storming so all the idiots stayed inside but those who ventured out got the fluffy, big flakes and lightest powder, powder I have seen in a long time. Not quite as epic as Utah champagne powder but a notch below that. You nail one run the the wind and flakes will reset the run the next time you are down. I was in the trees so that provided good reference points in almost white out conditions. The next day, it was a Bluebird day but the snow was no where near as epic as Wednesday during the storm.

This year I did not have to put on the chain going to the mountain or driving back. Yeah, when we got there, there was about nice layer of powder but nothing that warranted cables on the wheels. Maxine was fine climbing up the hill to the motel.

The day we drive back, the storm has passed and the CalTrans cleared the road. :superhero: CalTrans guys are the BEST at keeping the 203 and 395 open, major kudos to those guys

    Observations:

    - A few years ago, :ford:  was heavily advertising the CMax with Mammoth, but this year, I did not see any. Ford actually is a sponsor at Mammoth. I saw lots and lots of Fusion & F150 ads but ZERO Cmax.

    - I did not see any CMaxs while I was in town. A Prius or 2. Definitley, lots and lots of NEW SUVs, especially large Denalis and Yukons which is not surprising since the gas prices are low at around $2.79 a gallon here. Lots and lots of new plated cars as well...ghee whez,.. I hope these guys realize that gas goes up, those guzzlers are gonna cost :spend:

Thanks for the read. Next trip will be in mid January, can't wait :play:

    Happy Cmaxing till then :shift:

  6. But wait ............ :headscratch:  :headscratch:  :headscratch: ............ you're not trading in old Betsy, your 2015 Priii, she was sooo good (well almost good).  Surely you would not try to fop it off on your beautiful wife, naw......................... you must be trading it in for the new sleeeeeeeeeeeeek 2016.

Always the best for the Jus man.  Jus-A-CMax that is !  (at least we think ? or has he doubled down on another Jaguar, hmmm)

    Nick

..down to 1 Jaguar. Mine. I am tempted...at least I should test drive........oh......I woke up...nevermind...wrong thread....carry on...nuthin to see from me..... :pimp:

  7. Upping the tire pressure does more for the MPG than anything else, the least resistence the better...

Also, I came to the conclusion the last update has certainly reduced the MPG, at least by 4 MPG based on my driving. That sucks...

Get it up there in 600.00 and you're in. I don't think theres any other forum that tracks 600+ CMax drivers, but its hard if you even have 20% freeway as the CMax is not the most efficient car at freeway speeds. City, its an MPG killer... :)

  8. Please update SnowStorm to 725.1 miles, 12.61 gal, 57.4 mpg all indicated.  (This trip was with new tires so actual mileage was about 1.8% higher - gallons pumped at fill-up was 13.3 gal.)

:congrats:   and Done...and you get the newest    :welcome:  emoticon as well

  9. As far as I know the two main issues are the random 12V battery drain on SE's and fuel economy.

When Ford first advertised the car they claimed it would get 60MPG - which most people just aren't going to get.  They weren't the only vendor to do that - My local Chevy dealership was also claiming that the HHR could get 35MPG .. not happening.

Lucky for me where I work we have several of these so I knew the real world MPGs and it's not bad for a crossover, plus the car has a lot of power vs. the Prius V.  A few of the SEs at work still have battery problems but I've never had an issue with my SEL.

    ...

60MPG from Ford? Nah, I think you might have done a time warp into 2020 with the CMax Series 9 for a bit there...lol.

47/47/47 was the original, downgraded to 42/40 or something like that. Its meaningless...as the MPG will depend on how you drive and the terrain you drive and most important - how you best decide the optimal route with minimal traffic and lights, those are MPG killers.

My reality is that I easily get 60+ MPG driving City and I've proved this many times with my drive to work, golf course and home - all city, breaking the 600, 700, 800 (I think I got 9 tanks here) and a 900 mile tank. Look at the 600+ Mile club, lots of people doing those high miles on our 14 gallon tanks.

However, when I drive to from LA Mammoth a 560+ mile round trip, I average 45-46MPG with the car fully loaded, at freeway speeds. In theory, I could do a single tank there and back home but the wifey will have none of it - it's close as eventhough the trip home is mostly downgrade, there are some huge mountains to climb in between and that sucks gas. Can't fight gravity and that car behind you.

    It all depends...

  10. Ok fellas, ENUF. This is a welcome thread, not a beat each other thread - take that to PM.
